Rhys wiped his face off with a napkin. "I guess we could clean up, and go back and see what's in the cafeteria. I just didn't see anything substantial in there... but that's better than this, yeah."
He smirked. "You could see if there's a butler here you can borrow."

Hitoshi rolled his eyes and poured two extra servings of miso soup, setting them in front of Rhys and the blond boy. If it would keep them from starving -- or bitching about being hungry -- he might as well let them have the extra instead of sticking it in the fridge.
He set the rest of his food in front of Alex and himself, then sat down at the table beside his boyfriend.

Alex chuckled and kissed Hitoshi on the cheek. "Thanks, 'Toshi. I appreciate it."
"How has your day been?" he said between spoonfuls of soup.

Rhys' eyes grew briefly to the size of dinner-plates. "Man. I like you." He grabbed his fork and tried to pry bits of noodles off it before attacking the soup- slightly more politely than he did the chicken.
He wasn't sure how to act now.

Blaise tilted the bowl up, draining it in a few gulps. It was mostly broth and vegetables, though there were a few slivers of chicken breast floating in it. It mostly just succeeded in reminding Blaise how hungry he was, but his stomach was no longer growling.
"Thanks, that was good." Blaise set the bowl back on the table, then looked back at Alex. "Your boyfriend?" he asked, referring to the dark haired boy.

Alex dabbed his mouth with a napkin. "Yes."
He looked between Blaise and Rhys, but didn't say anything.

Blaise sensed the question Alex was thinking, but he didn't say anything. He didn't need to be able to sniff out emotions to sense the awkwardness in the room.
It was a bit strange -- and it might have just been Blaise's imagination -- but Rhys and Alex smelled extremely similar. It could have been any number of things, really. It was possible that Alex was a lycanthrope as well, though it didn't quite smell like that. It was something else, something he couldn't pinpoint. It was...pleasant, and almost minty, but not quite.
"Alex, this is Rhys, my temperamental roommate," he announced, gesturing toward the brunette. He gave said roommate a wry smile. "Temperamental roommate, this is Alex."

Hitoshi blushed slightly when Alex kissed him. He still wasn't entirely used to public displays of affection, though he'd been slowly growing a bit more comfortable with it. He sipped the broth out of his spoon.
"Alright, if a bit boring," he replied blandly. He might have said more, but he felt slightly uncomfortable with two strangers listening in on his conversation with his boyfriend, even if they were just making small talk.
He glanced up at Blaise and Rhys, but didn't say anything. Either someone would ask him to introduce himself or Alex would do it for him. He wasn't terribly worried.

Alex smiled at Rhys. "Nice to meet you. I'm Alex, and this is Hitoshi; Hitoshi, Blaise, Rhys."
He sipped the last of his soup and continued. "There aren't usually other students in here; most people don't want to go to the effort of making their own food, I suppose. It's nice to meet new people."

"I'm new here this semester, so most of the people I meet are new faces." Blaise shrugged. "Quite frankly I don't blame them for not wanting to cook for themselves. You saw what Rhys did to the food, and that was with help and a recipe."

"I shudder to think of what would have happened without my intervention," he replied dryly. He cut a piece of his chicken in half and dragged it through the teriyaki sauce.
Hitoshi didn't need to be reminded about the cooking abilities of some of the students living at Dunehelden. His cousin Rudeth had on more than one occasion tried to make ramen noodles without putting water in the pot.

Rhys looked up from his soup and shrugged. "You hit me in the face with a tennis ball, you eat my shitty cooking. Sounds like we're even."
He hesitated a moment. Maybe that was too harsh? He hated groups; he wanted friends, but he never knew what to say.

Alex laughed. He wasn't sure whether either of them meant what they were saying, but it was cute either way, and they both reminded him a little of someone, though he wasn't sure who.
"So what year are you two?" Maybe he could wrangle them (and Hitoshi) into doing something fun later. Everyone else was busy this week...

He rolled his eyes slightly at Rhys, but didn't make any further comment on the matter.
"I'm a junior in the academy," Blaise replied automatically, and it occurred to him that he didn't remember ever asking Rhys what year he was.

Rhys smirked awkwardly.
"Yeah, same. What're you? You look younger, or are you just small?"

Hitoshi looked up at Rhys over the rim of his glasses, his expression unreadable. He'd never particularly had a problem with his height, but it did get somewhat old. He didn't need people to constantly remind him that he was short, just in case he forgot. And, frankly, Hitoshi doubted he would be growing any taller any time soon. Most of his family on his mother's side was even shorter than him, at least apart from Rudeth and Thrall, who had inherited their father's height.
"I'm a sophomore," he said, "and Alex is a freshman."
