Aramis came into the kitchens slowly, holding a white rose. He'd been trying to kill time, and... well, he'd lost interest in outside. His wandering feet had led him to the kitchen, as they tended to do when he wasn't paying attention to where he was going. Looking around, Aramis shrugged and pushed open the door, peeking in. He didn't SEE anyone...
But in this school, that meant very little. Even Kemekin could hide from Aramis on occasion, though that was exceedingly rare and only when Aramis was completely out of it. He looked around carefully, then slowly slid in. Maybe he could find something to eat... well, not maybe. The only maybe was if he was going to be interested or not.

Rhythan had been in the fridge (yes, in it, door closed) contemplating what foods to set out for breakfast the next day, when he heard someone enter his domain he paused. He thought about popping out to say hello to whoever it was, but...
Well. He'd just wait and see if they were here for a drink.

Aramis slipped further in and set down the rose. He'd only still been holding it because he'd forgotten about having it in his hand until he'd gotten inside, and Aramis hadn't felt like letting it fall so that the poor custodian had to clean it up too.
The silence was making him edgy. Feeling his shoulders stiffen a little, Aramis slipped in carefully and looked around. He could feel someone there, with some sense that wasn't magic or of the five normal... it was probably just paranoia, but Aramis had learned to trust that sense, whatever it was.
"Hello?" he called hesitantly, though his voice carried.

Rhythan listened and pushed away the carton of orange juice that was sliding through his head. (He wasn't quite solid at the moment.) Ah, so it was Aramis.
Rhythan looked around the fridge and spotted the Red Bulls that Kemekin liked to keep on reserve. The boy generally had no problem with sharing the things-- Rhythan picked one up and settled himself to face the fridge door.
Just a little closer, Aramis.

Aramis continued to creep forward nervously. He just knew there was someone else in here. He could practically feel them, but not with his magic. It was... something else, and it felt like he did in those damn dreams.
He still didn't know what to make of it, but he knew there was someone else there! Keeping his eyes sharp, he slipped further into the room and started looking through the cupboards. He knew Rhythan wouldn't mind... if the man was around. He had to be, though, right?

Rhythan arched an eyebrow and listened. He heard cupboards opening and closing and grinned.
Rhythan held the Red Bull can against one of the inner walls of the fridge and clicked the metal against it a few times.

Aramis jumped and spun, then narrowed his eyes. How the hell was something inside the fridge... clicking? His heart rate seemed to kick up a notch or two, but he managed to keep calm enough to go toward the fridge, rather than away. He slipped into a low crouch, ready to bolt or fight depending on what happened next.
Then, slowly, hesitantly, he opened the fridge door.

Rhythan dove out of the fridge with a high-pitched opera wail of "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA~ramis!" and fell right through the boy, spinning around once he was on the other side and bending at the waist so that he was eye-level with him, holding up one hand and leaning his own cheek into it.
"Hello."

Aramis flipped around, reaching for... what am I reaching for? I never carry anything at my hip..., reaching back behind him for something to balance himself as he stumbled at that seriously weird feeling of having Rhythan go through him. He stumbled anyway, finding nothing to catch himself with, and quite solidly thumped his head against the fridge door.
At that point, it was the stars Aramis was focusing on, and not the fact that Rhythan somehow knew his name even though he almost never came down into the kitchen proper nor had ever spoken a word to the odd chef before. Feeling a bit woozy, the blond slowly pushed himself away from the fridge. Then, slowly and deliberately, pushed himself to a sitting position, and curled forward holding his head.
"Ow," he mumbled. Then, thinking about it for a minute, he spoke again. "Seriously fucking ow."

Rhythan beamed and held the cold aluminum can against the boy's head, hoping to provide some relief but highly amused nonetheless.
"Sorry about that, m'boy. Ol' Rhythan hasn't had many visitors other than little Miss Paem since the vacationers left."

Aramis took the can from him and held it against his head himself. "Yeah... Nina's been wandering a lot," he mumbled, not looking at the unnaturally white creature he just knew was inwardly laughing at him.
It also almost felt like there was some other... thing... laughing at him in the back of his head, extraordinarily amused at his stumble. Neither senses of being laughed at made him feel any better. Blinking away the stars that still floated in front of his eyes, and roughly wiping his free hand across his face to brush away the tears of pain that lurked there, Aramis slowly tried to stand up.
That, his head rapidly told him, was a mistake and he flopped back down with a bit of a mumbled groan. "Ow ow and again, ow, dammit all," he grumbled, his eyes closed. Seriously fucking OW, dammit!
" 'm bored too. 's odd, didn't think I'd miss having a roommate to pester me," he said softly, still holding the cold can to his head. It helped, a little at least. Frozen peas or corn would be better, but the can worked well enough.
Finally able to straighten up, Aramis stood, avoiding hitting Rhythan's head with an almost religious care, and looked at Rhythan. "S'there a reason you're hiding in the fridge?" he asked.

"The chill helps me think, m'boy." Rhythan straightened to his full height and strode across the kitchen to fetch a handtowel, which he dampened a bit in the sink before wringing it out and filling it with some crushed ice. He handed this to Aramis with a flourish.
"I was wondering what delicacies I might spoil the remaining inhabiture of our fair castle with in the morning. Maybe a breakfast-wrap assembly line. Or a fruit bar. Or cupcakes."

Aramis accepted the ice with a mumbled 'thanks' and put it against his head. He was beginning to realize that what he'd done had been pretty amusing, and that half of the feeling of being laughed at at actually been himself, and he was wishing he had video of that fall. Kemekin would... well, was going to, find it hilarious.
"Only you would think cupcakes was a proper breakfast item," Aramis chuckled, removing the ice and gently touched the forming lump on the back of his head. It wasn't too bad, and he managed to heal it with ease. His head still spun a little, but he didn't want to muck around with his own brain... never an intelligent decision. Especially with his inexperience.
Looking around for somewhere to put the ice, Aramis pondered Rhythan's own thoughts. "Well, I'm certain the fruit bar would go over well. I've seen how it seems to disappear whenever you put it out."
All this, of course, spoken without once looking at Rhythan. While, through the course of the year, Aramis had actually managed to work on that irritating stutter he had, he still spoke more easily without actually looking at the person he was speaking to.

Rhythan threw his arms out to either side. "Yes, m'boy! The fruit bar. Always an excellent choice. And I'll throw some bacon out there, as well. Yes. EVERYONE loves bacon." He started to grin, then paused. "E-except for that lemur boy. And Aodh. And Nina-Neul don't eat meat with breakfast. And some of the vampires just don't eat." He shrugged.
"Head feel better? That Red Bull should fix you right up." He grinned fully then. "Right up."

Aramis felt at the back of his head again, then at the can he was still holding. It was probably Kemekin's... and since Keme was always making free with putting his sh-stuff, on Aramis' side of the room, Aramis felt rather safe in stea-borrowing. Yes, borrowing, from Kemekin.
I'm going to regret this, I think, but... well, I have a good excuse and I'm so BORED I really don't care right now he thought to himself, then opened the can.
"Well, I don't know how well it will help the rattling I just gave my brain, but if nothing else it'll probably relieve the headache I'm afraid to heal myself."
He shrugged, and drank. That... was not the best drink he'd ever had. But, after a few moments, the caffeine DID help with his headache. Enough that he decided he could put up with the taste and finish the can at LEAST.
Then it occurred to him to wonder what Rhythan meant by 'fix him right up.' He looked at Rhythan and tilted his head to the side. "What was that supposed to mean?"

Rhythan "Kee~!"ed and skittered backwards on his tip-toes to hop up and sit on a countertop. "Oh, you'll see what I mean in a few minutes," he promised, rolling up his sleeves.
"Would you like to wait in here to witness the effects, or go bounce around the walls of the school? Granted, if you get into trouble I will deny any part in this."

Aramis eyed him suspiciously, then looked at the can again, narrowing his eyes at it. "What have I allowed you to do to me?" he asked, though he couldn't help the grin he was feeling spread across his face.
Then he tilted his head to the side again with the most artificial, innocent expression he could possibly manage. "But who is left to say I'm in trouble?"

Rhythan mimicked Aramis' head tilt, though Rhythan's went far more along, almost like an owl's. "You have a point, m'boy."

Aramis raised a brow, and looked at the Red Bull. He might as well finish it... Really, it'd be a waste to throw it away, and if he was going to drink it, he might as well drink all of it. It seemed to him he'd decided that already, but there was still liquid in the can.
He quickly remedied that, and sat looking at the can. He crushed the can between his hands, mostly because his head still hurt and he didn't want to show how red-neck he could be by crushing it against his head. Though it was oddly tempting. He looked around. "You know... I came in wondering if I could find some huckleberries. My mom promised to send me some, but I think she forgot. I guess I'm not surprised, she always seems to forget me even when I'm right there. I don't know how she does that... but somehow apparently I'm almost as ninja as Nina, or whoever else is ninja in this school."
At that point, Aramis realized he was babbling and decided to shut up. Maybe. He looked at his hands and they were shaking a little. But not bad. He couldn't tell if it was from the caffeine or the bump on his head. Nor, as he attempted to reflect on it and failed rather spectacularly, did it really matter. And he didn't really care either.

The door squeaked open, and Daridouvlyn breezed in, looking curiously at Rhythan and the blonde student she recognized as Aramis. The two of them had never spoken, but that meant little this late in the school year, in a school of this size.
"So what's this talk of ninjas?" she asked, stepping lightly (well, there wasn't much in the way she could step other than lightly) over to one of the lower cabinets for a mug. She set a kettle on the stove top and went about boiling water. She could always boil the water in the coffee maker, but she liked the hint of metallic taste that the old kettle left. That done, she went to one of the narrower pantries and looked up at the shelves.
Aw. The type-O was on a shelf out of her reach. Which was a pity, because that was her favorite.

Aramis glanced over at her and narrowed his eyes slightly. "Do you need help?" he asked softly. He rubbed the back of his head slightly.
"Rhythan's gone and given me caffeine and now I'm babbling," Aramis explained, his voice still soft.He wrinkled his nose, looking at Rhythan with an accusing expression that quickly turned into a smirk, then a grin. Rhythan's expression was too mischievous for him to keep his own expression serious.
Rubbing a hand over his face, he just turned back to the diminutive vampire.

Douv stood on her toes and stretched up in an attempt to reach the shelf, looking at Aramis with a light smile on her face in a Does it LOOK like I need help, silly? expression. She flexed her hand at the shelf and tipped her head to one side.
"Rhythan, what have I told you about drugging the students?" Douv wobbled a bit on her toes, and braced herself against a lower shelf with her non-stretching hand.

Rhythan kicked his feet like a child on a swing. "You told me not to drug the freshmen after a group of them went goose-stepping through the library. You didn't say anything about the rest of the student populace. And caffeine is hardly a drug."
He arched a drawn-on eyebrow and grinned devilishly.

Finally figuring out what she was reaching for, Aramis walked over and grabbed the type O. It made a shiver go up his spine; Aramis had suffered the worst backlash when he'd tried to heal a vampire, and only a vampire could possibly want this.
Though Aramis didn't have much against them. It just.... made his senses shiver. Handing it to her, Aramis heard Rhythan and twitched. He looked at Rhythan and stuck his tongue out.
"Caffeine is still a mind-altering substance. Just because it's legal to everyone but Mormons... except Pepsi because Pepsi is a Mormon company... and I'm babbling again, darn it..."

Douv gave Aramis a thankful smile and returned to the stove as the kettle started to whistle. She had to use both hands to lift the kettle and pour some of the boiling water into the mug. Then she dropped in two of the blood tablets, letting them dissolve into the water as she fetched a jar of cherries from the fridge. She spooned out some of the syrup from the jar, ignoring the little fruits, and stirred it into the fake blood as if it were hot tea.
Douv turned to lean against the counter wrapped both of her hands around the mug, taking a sip and smiling again.
"Are you normally one of the walking Wikipedias we have around here, or is it just caffeine that does it?" she teased.
