Jason nodded, following Ozora's gaze. "Yeah. I don't mind fall and winter so much; I'm usually pretty good at keeping warm in the cold, especially as a wolf. But you're right about the Fae. Each thing must have its time, I guess." He shrugged. "Whether we like it or not."

Ozora shuddered when Jason named the Fae, jerking up and absently fixing his hair again. It was becoming reminiscent of a bird preening its feathers, as they tended to do constantly. "The seasons don't bother me too much as themselves, though I'm not fond of cold. It's... what else it tends to mean here."

Jason nodded, wincing a little when he saw Ozora shudder. "Yeah, I know what you mean. Sorry if I'm bothering you at all... we could talk about something else if you want. Something cheerful."

"It's just that I don't like... them," he explained. "Never have, and after Halloween... Yeah, I dislike them more."
He looked up at the sky again. "Do you remember what it's like being a wolf ever? I mean... yeah, are you able to think about those memories as a human later?"

"Yeah," Jason nodded. "It's strange though, because a wolf's mind and a human's mind are so different. The memories register differently. They're all in black-and-white, since dogs don't see in color, and they're mostly overpowered by different smells. I have a really good sense of smell even as a human, but as a wolf it's ten times better."

Ozora shrugged, "The only real difference between my forms is I can see impossibly well, and I can fly."
His eyes got a distant, dreamy look. "But if I spend too long in my other form, yeah... I start acting a lot more birdlike. I bet if I stayed long enough, I'd become the hawk and lose myself. So I try to be careful..."
He sighed slightly. "But to live a life in the sky..." His expression remained dreamy and distant.

Jason shivered a little at the thought of losing his human side to his inner wolf. It was something he'd never considered before, but the thought was unsettling.
"I don't normally turn wolf outside of the full moon changes. It can be hard to resist the urge sometimes, though, especially when I'm angry. I've come close to going wolf during arguments a couple of times last semester," he recalled with a sigh.

"I wouldn't be too much good in a fight. Though I suppose my claws and beaks could tear an eye out pretty well, I rather doubt that would be acceptable here," Ozora grinned. "And my bones tend to be just as fragile in this form as they are when I'm wearing feathers."
He looked thoughtful, fingering the feather in his hair. "That's probably why I try to get along with everyone. I don't like broken bones; they hurt."

Jason looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "You're preaching to the choir, I'm afraid. I'm lucky to be alive today, let alone have the use of my legs."
He shifted a little and stretched. "I try to get along with everyone as well. I just don't see the point of being unfriendly to people."

"Yeah, I never really got it either. But then, I do understand that some people have had pretty bad lives and that affects how they treat everyone else. I mean, I wasn't even horribly surprised the first time I changed. My parents told me about how it had happened in both of their families, so the only real surprise was that I became a European bird. I guess my dad's family that did this was Native American, so they tended toward eagles."
Then he looked at Jason and grinned, "I can't even count how many bones I've broken. My legs a few times, though never both at once, and my arms... a few ribs, some fingers and toes... cracked my pelvis once. That was hell. Never my skull thankfully...but honestly... I'm sure it will happen eventually."

Jason nodded, wincing at the memory of his own cracked pelvis. "I know how a broken pelvis feels too. I'm really glad Aramis knocked me out before trying to set my bones. That's the most pain I've ever been in. I'm not even sure my father sustained injuries that bad during the wars he's been in. I know he's broken some bones, but not so seriously."

Ozora paused. "Aramis... he's the one roommates with the Miss E's nephew, right? I didn't know he knew how to do things like setting bones. I guess I should have, but when the wind stopped blowing that day, I got the heck out of there before they started up again."

Jason nodded. "I'm not sure how experienced at healing Aramis was when he did that, but he at least managed to hold my legs together until Miss E got back from wherever she vanished to, and then she finished what Aramis started. I don't know what any of us would do without them... they've helped us all so much without asking anything in return."

Ozora nodded, thoughtfully. "You could always ask him. He never seems willing to talk to me, but he's hardly ever willing to talk to anyone, it seems. Except Carmen; he doesn't quite follow him like a puppy, but it's close.
"But for some reason, I wouldn't peg Aramis as... interested in him either. That's a bit of a pity... Aramis, for being so quiet, is rather cute."
Ozora shrugged, looking up. "I think it's just in their nature. To help, I mean. They just have talents that others don't. Talents that make it easier, maybe, to help. I'd help if I could too, but my only real ability is attempting to cheer people up and makes it possible for me to switch forms without concern... not really very helpful."

Jason nodded, clasping his hands behind his head and leaning back against the bench. "So would I. I hate seeing anyone suffering, and if I possibly can I do my best to help, but there's only so much a person can do, you know? I can't help with physical pain, I'm not a Healer. The best I can offer anyone is emotional support and comfort. I just hate it when my efforts fall short."

Ozora shrugged. "I do my best... but I'm not going to agonize over something I can't help or control. What's that prayer... 'God grant me the serenity to accept the things I can't'. I know that's only part of it, but it proves my point."

Jason nodded slowly. "You have a point. I suppose I should know better than to try to change things I obviously have no control over, but... I don't know. I like to think that my own efforts make a difference in the world, even though God is ultimately in control. We were given free will for a reason."

"How did this become religious?" Ozora asked, tilting his head to the side. "I'm not exactly religious myself, and I know most of the people here aren't. Not to offend you or anything, but that's one of those topics you're supposed to avoid."
He grinned, his head tilted a bit more and his bright eyes were warm with humor.

Jason laughed, blushing a bit. "I'm sorry. My fault. But religion is a very big part of who I am and how I was brought up, so it's a bit hard to avoid," he smiled apologetically. "I'm sorry if it offends you."

Ozora shrugged, grinning. "I was more concerned about me slipping up and offending you."
He looked up again. "I was kind of raised to two different religions, and neither really seemed to feel right to me. My dad's a Mormon, and my mom's Hindu. I don't believe God has limited the number of people who can go into heaven by such an arbitrary number, and I don't believe in reincarnation. Otherwise, I'm two incarnations in one," he grinned over at Jason.

Jason smiled. "I was raised a very faithful Catholic; both of my parents are. I've always felt attracted to men in spite of what Leviticus says about it being an abomination. I've always thought of Leviticus as being more of a Jewish book of rules than a Christian one. A lot of the laws there are horribly outdated anyway. We don't sacrifice bulls and things on altars anymore."
He sighed. "I just don't see how love can be evil. Especially the kind of love I have for Zeph. We've survived so much together."

"We're heading back into that dangerous territory there, mate," Ozora said. "I seem to recall there being orders against it in the New Testament too, but I've not really ever studied it so I'm not sure. Don't really care, to be honest. God's not really done much to or for me, and I figure if he's existed this long without my worship, one more voice isn't going to help him much.
"Besides, I've seen enough things that don't make sense by the Bible, or at least by my father's version, so... Especially since by the Bible, even in the New Testament, Zeph ought to be killed for using magic. So... like I said, I'll leave God alone, and he can feel free to do the same for me. Or not, I really don't care."

Jason nodded. "If this were the Biblical era, this whole place would probably have been smitten like Sodom and Gomorrah by now. We have magic-users, shapeshifters, vampires... very few mortals at all, and even fewer Christians.
"I've never read a Mormon Bible, but from what I've heard it's vastly different than the Christian and Jewish texts."

"It's the same Bible... it's the book of Mormon that doesn't make sense. It contradicts the Bible in some places, and Mormons always put the Book of Mormon above the Bible. I tried to get my dad to see the madness inherent in it, but he can't see it. I eventually gave up. At least he wasn't ever part of one of the well hidden polygamist sects, or I would have been dumped on the streets a couple of years ago."
Ozora looked up at the sky again, shrugging. "Mom doesn't really have any one holy book, exactly. She does have some great stories though. Heroes and gods and all sorts of things. And of course, her gods look pretty cool. Rather like Egyptian gods and Greek gods kind of mixed. Pretty, or animals, or both."

"Ah. It's the Book of Mormon, I've heard of, then," Jason replied with an inward cringe. "That book is insane."
He raised his eyebrows curiously at the mention of Ozora's mother's gods. "I don't think I've heard of any Hindu gods. What kinds of stories do they have behind them?"
