Aramis walked into the sickbay almost hesitantly. People didn't always know where to find him, and if it wasn't too terribly urgent, they waited here for him. He felt a slight tremor in his legs, fear that there was someone waiting for him and that his magic would be stretched even further.
There was someone in the room, but not a someone he had expected. Aramis trembled, his eyes disbelieving. "Miss Ellie?" he asked almost silently, though his voice carried.

Ellie smiled, leaning forward in her desk chair to peer through the doorway.
"Hello there, sweetie," she said, tucking her hair behind one ear. "Miss me?"

Aramis nodded slowly, staggering to lean against the wall. Tears welled up in his eyes and he covered his face, his body shaking. He sank slowly to the floor, the tears escaping to slide down his face. She was back... He choked on a sob, shaking badly.

Ellie slipped from her chair and approached Aramis, kneeling in front of him. She pulled him to her and stroked his hair, sending waves of soothing magic into his body. "Shhh, it's okay," she told him. "You did well."
She put her hands on his shoulders and held him out at arm's length, giving him a once over. She had been told the goings-on of Dunehelden in her absence. Poor Aramis had strained himself so, and he hadn't even been using healing magic.
"Let's get you off the floor," she said, standing and pulling Aramis to his feet. She led him to sit in her chair, she herself leaning against the desk.

He stood slowly, trying to calm down. "Where have you been? I..." he choked again, covering his face again. "I've been trying so hard to figure out how to heal and I can't and Zeph's still having to be really careful with his wrists and I'm not sure about how well I did with Jason's bones and everyone seems to get so bruised up and I always hurt because when I try to help someone I end up feeling the same pain and I don't know how you do it and and..."
He started crying, shaking badly again, curled up into a ball in the chair. His breaths came in gasps between sobs, the tears burning his cheeks as they fell. She was back... Thank God she was back! He didn't have to do this anymore!

Ellie gave him time to regain his breathing. She knew how important it was to let out this kind of stress, and waited patiently for him to calm down. She left the room and came back after a minute or two with two cups of fragrant tea, pausing before handing one to Aramis so that she could add chamomile to his cup.
"It's okay, honey," she crooned softly, standing by his side to rub his back. "Breathe. You don't have to worry about it any more."
Truth be told, she had been planning to ask the Headmistress about letting her tutor Aramis. Her lessons with Kemekin had been going well, and having another charge would do nothing to hinder her. Of course, what with her own disappearance and the issues at Dunehelden, she had been unable to to so.
"Are you okay now?"

He held the tea carefully, nodding slowly. "I think so. I've been on the edge of breakdown since Jason fell... God, that's been nearly... two weeks? Three weeks now."
Aramis looked at the tea, watching the steam rise. "I was so scared... you know what Zeph did... if my dorm had been any further..." He shuddered, clutching the cup so tightly his knuckles turned white. "I swear I could feel his life slipping through my fingers. I don't like that feeling... There was blood everywhere... blood's never bothered me before but..."

Ellie brushed a strand of Aramis's hair from his face. "This is why I didn't want you trying to 'heal' before you were taught. You get used to the blood, and you get used to the pain." She smiled. Aramis was starting to remind her of someone. She rested a hand lightly on his wrists, easing his hands-- and by extension the steaming teacup-- down to rest on the desktop. She didn't want Aramis to be scalded, on top of all the stress he was feeling.

Diana walked slowly down the hallway toward the infirmary, almost afraid to walk past that door. For two long weeks the bay had stood empty, Ellie-less and cold. She had looked into the room every time she had passed it before, her hopes rising, only to fall again when Ellie wasn't there.
Now, however, Diana's sensitive nose caught a familiar, flowery scent on the air as she came even closer the infirmary door. She paused, sniffing the air, her heart leaping. Could it be?
She fairly leapt toward the door and pushed it open, catching sight of the long-absent, now-returned figure inside the room and rushing forward, throwing her arms around Ellie with a sob of relief and joy -- and being very careful to avoid bumping the cup of steaming tea the healer was holding.

Ellie gasped as Diana's weight hit her, then gave a very uncharacteristic squeal of delight as she realized what it was. She wrapped her arms around Diana's neck and gave her friend as tight a hug as she could muster, what with the air being squeezed out of her. She had missed Diana so dearly...
Through Diana's hair, Ellie gave Aramis a smile.

Tears of joy welled up in Diana's eyes as she pulled away to let Ellie breathe, looking at her friend in delight and amazement. Her hands moved rapidly as she signed, Ellie, it's so good to see you back! Where have you been for so long? Everyone's been worried sick, especially poor Kemekin... and Hoshi! But I notice he's been here already, she added, a sly edge coming to her grin. She had smelled the man's scent on Ellie's skin, hair and clothes.

Aramis returned her smile, his shaking a little. He sipped at the tea, watching his hands shake. He almost spilled the tea and set it down quickly. Professor Harrows had reason to speak with Ellie too... Aramis covered his mouth suddenly and stood, running to a sink. He gagged, then retched, his body heaving. He hadn't eaten yet today... tears ran down his face as his dry heaves hurt, his throat and his stomach burning.
His knuckles turned white as he held himself up, trembling as he heaved again. Aramis kept his eyes tightly closed, coughing. His stomach twisted and he heaved again, gagging.

Ellie's brow furrowed. She disentangled herself from Diana and rushed to Aramis's side, running one of her hands along his back. She sent tendrils of magic into his skin, soothing his stomach, easing his convulsions. The poor boy had pushed himself so hard...
A fresh wave of guilt washed over Ellie and she frowned. Water, she signed to Diana with her free hand, before pressing it to Aramis's forehead. "Come on, honey. Lie down." she supposed the boy hadn't been sleeping, on top of it all. She led him to a bed and brushed his hair out of his face. "Do you want me to put you to sleep," she asked, speaking softly, "or would you rather have a medicine for it?"

Aramis relaxed slowly, his eyes closed once he was lying down. "I don't even know what's wrong..." he whimpered. He still felt sick, and it almost felt like he was getting a fever. He bit his lip, feeling his stomach twist again. He curled up on his side, his head hanging over the edge of the bed as he retched again. The single sip of tea hadn't given him anything to work with... He shivered as he felt chilled and groaned. He had a high fever then. Flashing between hot and cold... He was getting really sick.

Ellie willed the heat to drain away from her hands and eased Aramis back against the pillow on the bed, resting her cool skin once more against the boy's forehead. The other hand worked fervently to further ease his retching. The spasms were what needed to die down first. From there, she could ebb his fever and give him fluids and rest.

Aramis relaxed slowly, focusing on keeping his stomach under control. He lay very still, swallowing weakly. Her hand felt really good against his forehead... his eyes closed and his body finally truly relaxed. Suddenly heat flashed through him and he started sweating, twisting his head a little with a moan. First he was frozen, now he felt like he was in an oven! Panting, Aramis' eyes opened slowly. What had him so ill? Just stress? He had been pushing himself so hard...
Wait... hadn't someone come to him with a cold? The kid had sneezed on him, even though Aramis hadn't really been able to help... and with all this stress, the effort of trying to keep everyone well while Ellie was gone... a simple cold could really play havoc with his system. Closing his eyes again, Aramis whimpered softly. His stomach seemed to have settled, but he was starting to ache all over from the fever.
((And yes, I HAVE actually experienced this. I spent an entire day hopping back and forth from in front of the heater to on the couch as far away as I could. With aches and pains and all from what had started out as a cold. As I recall, my fever spiked at 102. >.< I wasn't nauseous but I had to use SOME creative licence, c'mon. XD))

Diana watched Ellie and Aramis in concern as she hurried to fill a glass with cold water. Coming quickly over to Aramis' bedside, she hovered anxiously beside Ellie, holding the cup to Aramis' lips to let him drink if he could.

Aramis sat up very carefully, taking the cup from Diana and sipping at it with the upmost care. He knew better than to drink like he wanted... he wanted to keep from retching like that again. It hurt, and everything was beginning to spin a little. He smiled weakly at Professor Harrows.
"Thank you," he said softly, looking for somewhere to put the glass so he could lay down again. Putting it down on the nearby table, he laid down carefully, closing his eyes.

Diana gently stroked the young mage's feverish cheek before looking at Ellie and signing to her. Is there anything else I can do for either of you?

Ellie consciously retracted her magic from Aramis. It was having little effect on his pains-- Ellie had done all she could. She frowned and stepped back from Aramis, then, struck by a sudden idea, turned to Diana.
"Fetch Kemekin," she told her friend, both and signing and saying the words aloud. "I think he may be able to help where I can't."

Diana nodded quickly, turning and hurrying from the room. She returned a few minutes later, with Ellie's nephew in tow. She came back to Aramis' bedside before releasing the boy's wrist, which she had been gripping rather tightly in her distress.

Kemekin winced and rubbed his forearm where the professor had gripped it. He bit back the expletive that sprang to his lips upon being quite literally dragged halfway across the school, quickly sobered by the sight of Aramis writhing in pain.
"What's wrong with him?" he asked Ellie, rushing to Aramis's other side.

Ellie looked Kemekin in the eye. "I have an idea," she said. "He's been trying to heal, but that's not a magic his body can use. Instead he's been using regeneration magic. It's created excess tissue in his body... it's mirroring what he's been fixing in the other students." Ellie broke her gaze to look at Aramis, brushing the boy's hair back from his brow. Her healing was not the kind to allow for the deterioration of the human body-- she could not destroy. What was happening to Aramis was not something she could fix. But Kemekin could... if he was guided.
"Aramis," she said, softly, smoothly, "If Kemekin and I work together, we can make this go away. But I'm not going to make you let Kemekin heal you. I know he's not a fully trained healer, so if you don't want him to risk it, say so now."

Aramis closed his eyes, his face twisting in pain. He felt his fever growing higher, his mind growing somewhat confused. His eyes opened again and looked over at Ellie rather blankly. She had asked him something.... something about getting him better?
"I... I t-trust you..." he managed, giving her a hesitant smile. It was all he could say before he gagged and attempted to throw up again, curled up tightly on his side. He groaned and whimpered, retching and gasping for breath. Ah, it hurt... the places Ian had been hit, and where Jason's bones had broken, and his wrists... especially his wrists. And the fever wasn't helping.

Ellie grasped Kemekin's hands, leading him gently to place them on Aramis's chest and throat.
"I need you to focus, Keme," she coached. "Ease the magic in slowly."
