Kemekin brushed his hair out of his face and grinned.
"That was a great almost-save," he replied brightly. He popped his knuckles and chuckled. This was getting fun.
"It y'all's serve."

Hitoshi stuffed his glasses down into Alex's bag. He didn't really want to have them with him if they were going swimming, and as bad as his vision was, he was fairly certain he could manage to maneuver around the beach without killing himself. It helped that, as specific-looking as Alex was, he was fairly certain he would be able to recognize him from decently far away.
He felt a bit strange without his glasses, and not just because he couldn't really see anything more than an arm's length away. He wasn't really used to not wearing them, and it made him feel like he wasn't fully dressed. He would have felt more comfortable leaving his shirt than his glasses.
He slipped his hand back into Alex's and stood a bit closer, if only to see Alex a bit better. He glanced over at the other boy; everything much farther away than Alex was blurry. "Lead the way."

Alex smiled. "You look younger without your glasses."
He squeezed Hitoshi's hand and started walking down the beach, close enough that he could get his feet wet in the surf.
"Do you want to see if we can find shells or starfish?"

Hitoshi quirked an eyebrow. "I'm not sure if I want to look younger, but I guess I'll assume it's not a bad thing."
The feeling of the water against his feet was nice, especially compared to the hot, dry sand further up the beach. He tried not to think too much about how nice and soft Alex's hand was.
"That sounds nice, though. Maybe we can look up what we've found once we get back to the hotel." Hitoshi glanced back out toward the ocean, rubbing his thumb over the back of Alex's hand. It was kind of strange, just how much he'd missed little things like holding Alex's hand. He'd never really paid much attention to it before. "If you want to find starfish or sand dollars, I think the best place is where the water's about knee-high. It's best to check while the tide is still low."

Alex chuckled. "Not that much younger. You usually look like you're older than me- which you are, of course- and now you look like you're a little younger."
He sloshed and splashed through the chilly water, slowly getting used to it. At one point he stopped and kicked a bit of sand out of his sandal. "Look them up? I guess you can do that, can't you?" He beamed at Hitoshi. "Sure. Let's."

Rudeth grinned, his arms tightening around her waist. "I'm...working on figuring that out still," he admitted. Rudeth returned the kiss, salty and soft, his hand tangling in her long hair.
He smirked. "Thought I'd start there, though."

Jackass, complimenting her. He was just trying to rub her nose in the fact that he was better than her.
Hitomi picked up the ball, tossing it lightly in one hand. Kemekin was good, but Doucan...she wasn't bad for a beginner, but she obviously hadn't played the game much before. If she could exploit that weakness, they might still stand a chance.
Hitomi swung her fist into the ball, sending it flying just on the other side of Doucan.

Hitoshi waded deeper into the water, his feet dragging in the sand as he felt for sand dollars. He wondered briefly how hard it would be to detect metal with magic, since people tended to lose some surprisingly nice things at the beach. His uncle once managed to find a diamond bracelet, two solid gold wedding bands, and a key to someone's Volkswagon buried in the sand. Thankfully, Rivienne managed to talk him into finding they key's owner rather than trying to hunt down the car.
Hitoshi's foot slid across something smooth that felt almost like stone. He reached down into the water and brushed the sand away from the thin disc-shaped item. The top was smooth and ridged slightly, and if he looked closely, he could make out the star shaped pattern along the back.
"Hey, Alex." He glanced up and gave the other boy a slight smile. "Found one."

Aritha grinned, though Rudeth’s fingers getting caught in her braid was a little disconcerting. That was going to take a bit to untangle.
“Well, that’s a good start,” she conceded, nodding her head slightly. Awk, hair pulled, ow. Flailing again slightly, and assured that Rudeth’s arm was more than enough to hold her, she reached back and worked on getting his fingers out of her hair. “Bah, I forgot what a pain long hair is when swimming.”

Zephyros wasn’t really a huge fan of beaches. Yes, it was technically spring, but he’d gotten a little too used to Dunehelden’s ridiculously cold (to him) climate, and it felt like summer. But, he decided he probably shouldn’t sit and sulk in the hotel lobby, and there was no way in Heaven, Hell or Earth he was going to stay in the hotel room where his brothers could get at him. At least here on the beach he’d be able to escape them.
It wasn’t hard to find a place to put his stuff, which was just some sunscreen, a towel and a brush, then pull off his shirt and dive into the water. The sea very promptly pulled his loose curls straight, and when he came up his hair strangled into his face. After a moment, Zeph just rolled over and floated, staring up at the pale blue sky and keeping himself out of the way but close enough to shore to not be a problem.

Euros, of course, had been following Kemekin around for most of the field trip thus far, and this was no exception.
He had the small local boys he'd paid to carry his things around for him set up his beach chair, umbrella, and towel, and stripped to get in the water. He'd worn contacts today, and between that, his irregular tan, and the purple-and-gray speedo he was wearing, he looked... different. A little unfortunate. Definitely different.
He tossed the boys a bill. "Have a mai tai ready for me when I'm done and there'll be more in it for you, dearies."
The boy dashed down the beach with a beach ball, slowing down momentarily to admire the boys playing volleyball, and kicked it up in the air towards Rudeth and his girlfriend. "Heads up!"

Doucan blinked up at the ball as it barreled towards her, wondering just how this would play out. Kemekin and Hitomi definitely knew what they were doing. Maybe if she copied them?
Doucan bent her knees slightly, flicking her bangs out of her eyes as she straightened her arms out as she had seen Hitomi do earlier. With a grunt, she swung her arms up and knocked the ball back over to the other side of the net, the arch slightly crooked.

Alex smiled back. "Cool." He took the sand dollar and looked at it before sticking them in his bag.
"I used to have a necklace made of these when I was little... I never wore it, of course, but I made one. I drew little designs on it with poster paint and pretended I was something out of an Indiana Jones movie." He grinned ruefully. "Did you ever do anything silly like that?"

Rudeth managed to untangle his fingers from her braid and smiled sheepishly. He made to kiss her again when the beach ball beaned Rudeth in the head, then bounced off and splashed down a few inches away.
"Oof--hey!" Rudeth shielded his eyes from the sun and squinted back at the shoreline. "Who's throwing things?"

Hitoshi stared at Alex for a moment, the corners of his lips turning up in a slight smile at the thought of a tiny Alex running around and pretending to be Indiana Jones. It took a good deal of self restraint not to tackle him down into the water.
"When I helped my mom cook as a kid, we used to pretend we were running a restaurant." Hitoshi smiled softly, looking off in the distance at the wide blue patch that he assumed was the sky. "My sister sat up spots for her stuffed animals at the table, and she'd pretend to be the waitress."

Alex chuckled. "I can see her doing that."
He dragged his feet through the sand, kicking up tiny rolling waves of water around them. "Do you still want to have your own restaurant one day, Hitoshi?"

Hitoshi glanced back at Alex, his lips turning down in a slight frown. "I'm...not really sure," he admitted. Hitoshi kicked his feet, stirring up the sand around them. "I used to. My mom always talked about going back to school to get a culinary degree, and used to say that the three of us -- her, Hitomi, and me -- were going to open up our own restaurant someday. Cooking was one of her passions."
He shrugged slightly. "I'm good at cooking, and I really love doing it. But I know I could do something bigger, something much more important than just running a restaurant."

Aritha looked at Euros dryly. Then she looked at Rudeth, pursing her lips slightly.
"Did you want to play? I'm not horribly fond of it. I might be graceful in most things, but something about that ball coming at me makes me flinch like none other."

"Oh," Alex said softly. He wrapped one arm around Hitoshi's shoulders and hugged him, then jumped back, water splashing. A dark shape the size and shape of Hitoshi's forearm could be seen swimming quickly out to sea.
"Whoa. Was that an eel?"

Jaymie saw the ball coming in his direction and leapt at it, knocking it in a slow, high arc over the net and himself nearly into the net. He hopped back just as quickly.
"Oookay, clearly it's been a while. Sorry, 'Tomi?" He grinned at her with obvious embarrassment.

Hitoshi blinked, glancing out at the sea. He hadn't seen anything, but he'd felt something swim past them.
"Maybe. Kind of strange to see them this far toward the shore, though. Usually animals stay further out, away from humans." They'd managed to wade about thigh-deep into the water; it was starting to get hot, and the beach was steadily getting more crowded. He glanced back at Alex. "About how long do you want to look for shells before swimming?"

"Huh." Alex blinked, then walked to Hitoshi's other side and grabbed his other hand. "Well, I guess we're just about swimming already. We can always look for shells underwater, if you want to swim. I'd be fine with it."

Zephyros lifted his head and watched the ball float away, then swam out and caught it. Aritha and Rudeth were apparently debating... Catching the ball, he swam back and threw it at Euros, aiming to peg him in the head.
It was probably time to start trying to make peace with his brothers. And while Euros was the one that irritated Zephyros the most, not that it was his fault, he probably would be a lot easier to get along with than Boreas would be. "If those two'll play, I'll play too," he told Euros, grinning at him.

Kemekin saw the ball's arch and backup up the the very edge of the court-- if there was a chance of it landing in, he was going to take it. As it were, the ball flew right over his head and landed outside the court.
Kemekin took a few strides, backwards, and picked up the thing, jogging back to the net. He tossed the ball under it, to Jaymie.
"That was an accident," he commented. It was not a question. Then he grinned amiably. "Do you want to try again? No points lost-- it's all in good fun."
