Ian rubbed his nose. It was still very sore, but at least the bleeding had stopped and it didn't feel broken anymore. He decided to spare Aramis the lecture about unsupervised magic - Ian figured this qualified as a good time to use it. He managed to get his books together in silence before standing up all the way.
This professor didn't seem to have noticed him. Interesting. Ian rubbed at the blood on his sleeve and shirt. He was going to need to do laundry. Several times, from the look of the way the blood was seeping into the cloth. His parents would have killed him for getting blood on a semi-nice shirt. Ian made his way slowly over to where Jonathan lay, twitching, on the ground.
The boy looked bad. Ian knelt beside him, laying his books on the ground. As he knelt there, Ian wondered to himself what would have happened if the accident had never occurred. If Jonathan had never been brought into the world... Ian couldn't imagine anything bad coming from that. If Jonathan simply didn't exist... so much pain could be spared.
In that moment, Ian thought something very horrible. In that moment, he closed his eyes wished Jonathan would be gone.
Of course, when he opened his eyes, this attempt at banishment had gone over just as well as the last attempts, and suddenly Ian felt very guilty. Like or not, Jonathan existed, and he was a real person now. And for Ian to wish Jonathan would die was like a father wishing his child was dead. The very thought sickened Ian, and he slumped down and sat next to Jonathan, resting a hand on Jonathan's shoulder.
"I'm sorry." He said softly. And for some reason, an odd coincidence, that was when Jonathan stopped twitching.
