"Except that the body I should be inside right now is rotting six feet underground in Rath Cemetery, Tralee," Evelyn snorted. "Not exactly something a soul can live in. And you can't make a body yourself, unless you're God... or Victor Frankenstein. And there are all kinds of oppositions to that kind of thing. People don't like it when other people mess with life and death on purpose."

"Hey, hey, hey..." Jonathan threw his hands into the air, still twirling the pencil. "I didn't say I was going to try it. Or that you should. I'm just saying it's possible... perhaps some day, they'll be able to put your body back in a usable shape, and move your soul into it. Trust me, I have no desire to go tampering with the bounds of magic. I mean, we don't want any more mes running around, do we?"
Jonathan chuckled again. He now had another question to ask later... possibly of Ian, who seemed the sort to know that kind of thing. Who's Victor Frankenstein?

"That'd be nice," Evelyn nodded. "Except for the fact that I'm, you know, kind of DEAD. And people tend to freak out when people come back to life after they've been buried. Seeing me come strolling home again years after my funeral would give my parents heart attacks. I really don't want that to happen."

Jonathan tossed the pencil into the air. It flew a few feet into the air and came back down. Jonathan caught it and deposited it into his pocket with one fluid movement. "Stranger things have happened." He said simply.
Then Jonathan started to take a few steps down the hall before turning around. "You know, I like to keep moving when I'm wandering around at night. The teachers are always on the alert, and I'm convinced a few of them have no desire to sleep. You're welcome to follow me, of course, or you can go back to the dorm. Your choice."

Evelyn bit her--Liam's--lip nervously. Part of her wanted to follow him, to talk with him and learn more about him and how he had come to be. The other part knew that if there were teachers about, she should get Liam's body back to his room as quickly as she could.
"I don't know..." she began hesitantly, looking over at Jonathan. "I don't want Liam to get in trouble because of me... but there's so much more about you I want to know..."

Jonathan smiled over his shoulder. "I do this every night. Get Liam back to bed, and come find me tomorrow. I... I'm not sure I hate you as much as I hate everybody else. I might enjoy the company. But not tonight. Tonight, Liam's at a bit of a risk... tomorrow I'll teach you some of my tricks for getting around without being seen. Sound good to you?"

Evelyn nodded, smiling. "I'd like that. So... tomorrow, same time, same place? What time is it anyway?"

Jonathan shrugged. "Oh, just come here, make sure there are no teachers around, and wait. I'll find you. Trust me. I've been doing this for quite a few days now." Turning around, he fixed Evelyn with a curious half-smile. "Good night, Evelyn."

"Goodnight, Jonathan," she answered, smiling back at him. "Don't tell my brother about this, alright? I don't want him to know I'm sneaking around in his body. He might not appreciate it. Enjoy your walk."
She turned and hurried away, back the way she had come, the image of Jonathan's curious half-smile still burning in her mind.
