Hitomi grinned. "Not particularly. What did you have in mind?"
She glanced sidelong at him. "As fun as throwing paint balloons from the tower sounds, I'm not sure I'm up to risking the headmistress's wrath. Or my aunt's -- she's probably actually worse." She smiled sheepishly. "Though I'm sure if you wanted to break rules you could find something that would draw less attention and work your way up?"

"Mmm, I was actually thinking of erecting some kind of actual art outside, since this place is way less anal-retentive than I'm used to- or just hanging out and seeing what happens. I wouldn't mind getting to know you better." He shrugged, smiling back. "Though if you wouldn't mind breaking some rules, there's always dinner and a movie. If we're back before curfew they may not even notice."

Hitomi laughed lightly. "They probably have the wards set up to let them know when people are leaving the school, to prevent that sort of stuff, and getting approved to leave the school is a long, annoying bureaucratic process that requires you tracking down at least three different people, two of which will probably ignore you, and getting them to sign off on some forms. It's way too much work for a few hours of being outside the school."
Hitomi dragged her foot over the couch cushion, drawing little shapes in the velvety material. "Although, I might be able to convince my aunt or my uncle to take a few people out on Saturday and make a day of it or something," she replied thoughtfully. "I've been needing to do some shopping, and I bet I could get Alex to drag Hitoshi along... Maybe Rudy and his girlfriend, or something. It's been a while since I've been out of Dunehelden for more than just holiday stuff."
Hitomi contemplated inviting Peace, but a significant part of her was afraid he was either gay or at least bi and she couldn't quite tell whether or not he was actually asking her out/flirting with her or if it was just wishful thinking on her part, and it might have been a bit selfish, but she didn't trust Peace around him yet.

"Bah. Magic," he shook his head. "That makes sense." His eyes followed Hitomi as she moved. Cute, his mind sang, sweet and pretty and cute.
"That sounds fun. I know Aritha- she's the one who mentioned Hitoshi had a sister. I could invite Aura, maybe." He stuck his tongue out a little and nibbled on it, thinking... and after a moment's realization, turned to Hitomi.
"Just checking, and a whole group thing would be great, but you do realize I'm asking you out, right?"

Hitomi tucked her hair behind her ear and flashed him a bashful smile. She carefully suppressed that happy, fluttering feeling she kept feeling. "Even if we go as a group, Hitoshi and Alex will probably want to do their own thing for a while -- they'll probably want to go to a book store or something and spend all day talking about philosophy," Hitomi replied.
"And if we go out the exit in Cincinnati, there's this really nice little outdoor ice skating rink Hitoshi and I used to go to all the time when we were kids." She beamed. "Have you ever been? Ice skating, I mean."
And if Jaymie was actually asking her on a date, she definitely wasn't inviting Peace along. Having someone around who would simultaneously try to protect her from potential boyfriends and try to steal them probably wasn't the best idea. Peace would just have to wait a few days to meet Jaymie, at least until Hitomi got to know him a bit better. So far most of what she knew about him was that he was pretty and wore a lot of polka dots, and that wasn't much to go off of.

A grin spread across Jaymie's face, followed by a strange hard kick in the back of his head that would've worried him if he felt he could react to it at all. He looked away. "No... but I'd love to go."
"Are you from Cincinnati?"

She grinned. "Great. I'd love to teach you, but I might be a little rusty. It's been a little while."
She hugged her knees to her chest and smiled. "We lived there until I was about eleven, but we moved further south after our mom died. I miss it up there, though. It still feels like that's were home is."

He turned and leaned against the back of the couch, ending up a bit closer to Hitomi.
"Oh," he said a little sadly. "Well... you can show me around, I guess." His eyes narrowed for a moment; there was something else he had wanted to say, but he couldn't figure out what it was. "Which one's your aunt?"

Hitomi shifted around slightly, leaning into the soft couch. "Dr. Rivienne Volkova. She teaches a few poli-sci classes, but mostly she teaches things for people on the Hunter track. She's one of the high level administrators -- the petite woman with the curly blonde hair."

He nodded to himself. "I haven't seen her."
"You're really cute," he said before he could stop. "Got any hobbies?"

Hitomi blushed, tilting her head slightly. He was a fair bit more direct than she was used to.
"I dabble in things. I do a lot with the theater department here, both acting and backstage tech stuff. I play the guitar, I paint some, I write poetry..." She smiled and shrugged. "I'm not overly good at any of it, really. What about you?"

"Heh. Cool." Jaymie looked up and rubbed his cheek, hoping he wasn't matching her blush. "Creative stuff, huh?"
"I..." This part usually didn't go over as well, but maybe she would be different. "I am going to be a fashion designer. So I sew, knit, draw, screenprint, do some jewelry work," he tapped his locket, "and that sort of thing. I also like movies. Stuff like that."

Hitomi grinned. "That's really cool." Hitomi scooted toward him and cupped the locket, examining it.
"You know," she said, glancing up at him, "you should join the theater. We need help with costuming. So far is mostly just been me and Aritha, and Aritha is the one that does most of the sewing. I've mostly just been doing management, which mostly means I keep the costume shop and the closets organized."

Jaymie just sat there, slightly frozen, with a giant, stupid-looking grin on his face.
"Heh."
