Alex sighed deeply, and once Aisling was out, took the opportunity to slip behind Hitoshi and grab his hands, half-hugging him.
"This seems terribly elaborate for money. Particularly since there's no way this was decided through mundane channels- translated from the Bureaucratese they know exactly what Dunehelden is." He leaned his forehead against Hitoshi's head. "I think the universe is punishing us for going on vacation."

Hitoshi leaned back against his husband, sighing. "This is utter shit. Maybe we should hire an accountant." He sneered. "Or a lawyer, at this rate. How the hell are they trying to tax a property that isn't even in the damn country?"

"Very thoroughly, I expect." He snuggled Hitoshi, nuzzling his face into Hitoshi's hair. "Maybe we should. My only initial ideas involve plotting and paranoia, as per usual."
"Perhaps- pfeh-" he moved his head slightly, "you can think up a better one?"

"I'm not all that experienced with dealing with the IRS, and quite frankly I don't think we have the funds to pay back taxes for five years -- and that's not even touching on the rest of what they're expecting."
Hitoshi plopped down on the sofa and pulled Alex down beside him, his arms locked around the other man's waist. "How is it that Veronique managed to do whatever she damn well felt like for thirty years, but now that I'm responsible for this place, her incompetence is biting me in the ass?"

"I don't know; would you have wanted to try to impose any order on this place while she was running it?" He smirked.
"Oh. On a somewhat related note, the children are mobbing for a day out next month to attend a concert. I think Alyn might be involved."

"You have a point," he muttered.
He raised an eyebrow. "By 'the children', which group do you mean?" he asked. "Which concert, where, and how much money are they expecting from us?"

Kazari stood for a moment outside the familiar door, balancing on one hip a package of something fragrant-- the infamous Baratoge pink tea, one would find upon opening.
The woman smiled, her metallic eyes catching the light and glinting as she knocked on the door.

"I mean, mostly, the extended Gilespi clan; at minimum, Xander and Jack since they're the ones that approached me, I believe Alyn, possibly Aikaterine and Demitria, Merkyutio, some of the Gussumaru children, and Carmen's child. I believe they're mostly expecting us to take them out to eat- Xander said something about his father buying tickets if we'd take them," Alex said with some sourness.

He cringed. "And when exactly is this supposed to be? It's--"
Hitoshi glanced up, shifting slightly at the knock on the door. "Just a second," he muttered, sliding off of the couch.
Hitoshi crossed the room and opened the door a crack, expecting to see one of his relatives, or perhaps one of the teachers. He certainly hadn't been expecting, well, her. "Hello?"

Kazari smile broadened. "Come, this Kazari has, bearing gifts." She lifted the package to show Hitoshi.

"Kazari!" Alex grinned. "It's wonderful to see you, come in."

Kazari entered the office and set the tea package on the nearest flat surface. She tucked her hair behind her ears and leaned forward to give Alex a hug.
"The school, this Kazari sees, is still standing. Her children, she assumes, have done little damage?" She smirked as she said this.

Alex laughed and hugged Kazari. "Oh, my goodness, you look different."
"They haven't managed to destroy anything yet- though one of our teachers has recently come close," he grumbled. "Anyway, forget the Harrises, how have you been? Should we call your little clan up to say hello?" He went back to smiling.

Hitoshi winced. "I don't think the office is big enough for that. Or animal-proof enough."
Hitoshi peered at the little package, his lips thinning in an almost-smile. "I see you brought more tea. This isn't a preemptive apology for something your children are planning to do, is it?"

Kazari gave Hitoshi a crooked smile. "Call it mother's intuition," she teased, adding a wink.
To Alex, she chuckled. "Why, expecting not to see this Kazari without burden of child?" She patted her stomach, which had reverted quite easily back to it's normally toned state, even after so many children. "Ten pups is enough, aye?"
Her ears perked at the mention of destruction to the school not having to do with her own spawn, and her jaw seemed to clench for a moment. "Ask, may this Kazari, what happened?"
