Alex sat watching over the mass of students in the cafeteria. It wasn't nearly as loud as the public school cafeterias of his youth, with much fewer students and the ability to grab something between classes causing more than one student to use lunchtime for other things, but it could still be rowdy.
He nibbled on a warm salmon-pesto wrap-thing and a salad with far more fruit and fruit vinaigrette than anything green. Rhythan had made an immense batch of fresh, warm chocolate chip cookies and ice cold milk in response to the first round of exams, but Alex was determined to resist temptation.

Kazari emerged from the kitchens and approached Alex on silent feet. She plopped down in the seat next to his, smiling, sipping at the mug of fragrant tea that she had brought with her.
"Still afraid to approach you, is this Kazari's Akio." She chuckled into her tea. "Fear a mother's wrath, eh?"

Alex perked up when he noticed Kazari. "Hah. I feel a little sorry for him; I thought all sorts of things when they showed up, but Alyn can take care of herself."
"Good morning, anyway. How've you been?" He smiled broadly at her; conversation was a wonderful distraction from fish wraps and watching out for strange things done to children's food with magic.

Kazari grinned and nodded. "Even if he wanted to, Akio could do no harm to even a fly. Unless upon said fly he opted to perform genetic experiments."
"Fairly well, has this Kazari been. With her family is her hands full. Little Minase is hardly two and already has taken wereform. Quite odd." She smirked. "And you?"

"Mm. Good to know." Alex smiled a little more beatifically than before. It might be fun to give the boy the more... interesting... science teachers.
"They seem to get younger and younger, don't they?" he said, poking at a berry in his salad. "It's been something. Xander and Aisling have been in at all hours... they're still sticking to family, for the most part, though I think your Akane's made friends with them. Alyn's still Alyn, Jack's still Jack, and Thrall... I'm not sure if he's left, though for the life of me I can't tell what he's doing here, he just keeps showing up at random times and places."
He sighed. "And... the school may have some problems soon, but we're trying to sort that out."

Kazari blinked a few times. "Problems?" She tucked her hair behind one ear and watched Alex for a moment. "Of help to you, can this Kazari be?"

Alex sighed. "Probably not, I'm afraid. They're mostly financial... or political."
"Unless you can take Veronique out for a day at the spa and give us some peace?" he smirked.

Kazari smirked. That was something she might be able to do, actually.
"Something may be arranged, this Kazari thinks.

"Thank you," Alex said warmly. "It's good to have you back, at least for the moment. Perhaps this time your husband won't try to adopt out your children to Professor Himmel."

Kazari burst into laughter. "Oh, poor Akio," she managed between lungfuls of air. "So convinced is this Kazari's Gussu of Jaebi's child Akio being."
She blew a stray strand of hair out of her face and sipped at her tea. "Mmm. So, when should attempt this Kazari to kidnap ninja from Dunehelden the French Overlord?"

He shook his head. "There are a number of strange coincidences among our children. Must be one of the long-term effects of so much fae magic."
"Whenever is most convenient for you; though sooner might be better than later."
