((Several hours after "Most Unusual"))
Vincent knocked on the infirmary door, then took a step back and waited for Ellie to answer. He had come here straight from his last class, detouring only once to use the loo. His mind was abuzz with questions; he was anxious to find out as much as possible, and as soon as possible. How had his powers manifested? Why now? What did that mean for him, and how would it affect him in the long run? Could he be a Hunter and a mage at the same time?

Ellie had been typing on her laptop when she heard the knock-- she puched teh screen down and stood up, calling "Come in," to whomever was outside.

Vincent opened the door and stepped into the room, smiling at the sight of the healer standing behind her desk. "Afternoon, Ellie. I believe we have some things to speak about -- or rather, you have some things to enlighten me about," he said with a grin, approaching her desk and standing in front of it, looking Ellie in her bright blue eyes.

Ellie mirrored his smile, offering him a chair.
"That we do," she agreed, leaning forward with her elbows on the desktop, lacing her fingers below her chin. She closed her eyes for a moment, thinking of how to go about things.
"When I had that... episode," she began. She paused here, took a breath, and continued, "When I was sleepwalking. I've come to a pretty certain conclusion: it wasn't a nightmare I was having. I was under an enchantment."
She stopped and watched Vincent, waiting to gauge his reaction.

Vincent sat down in the chair Ellie offered him, leaning forward to hear what she had to say. His eyebrows rose slowly as she spoke; when she fell silent, he sat back, putting two and two together in his mind.
It made sense that Ellie had been under a spell -- why else would she have been heading directly into the forest, toward the Fae? It would certainly explain why Ellie's magic seemed to be behaving oddly ever since that night... perhaps there was something of the enchantment left in her system.
So Vincent had woken Ellie from her dream by singing to her, and his singing had broken that enchantment. All well and good, but what kind of magic was performed through music? Certainly not one Vincent had ever heard of. That was definitely a question for Smoke, whenever Vincent got the chance to ask.
"Well... that certainly explains a lot," he said eventually. "It seems I have some power over enchantments, then. I've never heard of magic that's performed through music, though. I'll have to speak to Smoke about that."
It struck him that if he'd only learned about all this before the unfortunate incident with Valérian, perhaps he could have tried to help. No matter, that was dealt with now. He looked at Ellie, tilting his head to the side. "How have you been doing, ever since that night? I've noticed your magic is behaving oddly these days."

Ellie sighed, one hand unconsciously resting on her stomach, where the odd mark still stained her skin. She had noticed that the mark seemed to warm when she used healing magic-- and that she had been healing others without realizing it. Plants seemed to brighten and perk up when she walked by them. Students dozing in the lounge would sit upright and blink owlishly, as if suddenly energized.
And then, there was the incident here, in the sick bay, when Hoshi had visited her.
Ellie's eyes strayed to the spot on the wall where the bones had reanimated-- the hairline crack could still be seen, even though she had re-plastered and painted over that bit of the wall. The crack kept breaking through.
Not to mention the new, non-healing powers she had gained. It was all quite confusing. But she managed a smile and lied to Vincent, telling her friend, "I've been doing quite well, actually. My magic has tweaked a bit, but for the most part it hasn't changed."
She swallowed, and added, "Much."

Vincent nodded slowly, watching Ellie carefully. He could tell that she was lying, but didn't call her out on it. Whatever her magic was doing, it was her own business, as long as it wasn't hurting anyone. Things seemed to be going well... at least as well as could be expected after something like that.
"That's good to hear," he said with a calm smile. "I'm very glad you're well. That night was definitely one of the more frightening ones I've experienced here."
Vincent pushed back the horrid memories of those nights, blocking out mental images of Ariel struggling in Conall's arms, of Jason and Zeph unconscious in a slick of blood... He suppressed a shudder. Thank heavens all of that was over with. Ariel was unharmed, her nightmares had gone away, and Jason and Zeph were both alive and well healed. Physically, at least.
He returned to thoughts of the present, and his own newfound powers. Something else suddenly occurred to him, and he dwelt on it for a while without speaking. As his job and habits dictated, he had been singing almost all day, every day for the past week since Ellie's nightmare, and nothing unusual had happened because of it -- at least, not to his knowledge. Then again, magic was all about intent, and Vincent hadn't intended for anything odd to happen while he sang.
Though, he hadn't really intended to wake Ellie up from her nightmare, either... just to calm her down until help arrived. He had his strange new magic to thank for her freedom, and he was infinitely glad for that. He was sure Ellie was, too. It was extremely lucky that his magic had manifested at that very moment, he thought to himself.

Ellie laced her fingers together and sighed. "I... have a theory. About your magic. And about what woke me up." She looked up at Vincent again. "It wasn't all you. But it wasn't all me, either." She stood up and stepped away from her desk.
"Your voice served as a channel-- for your magic, as it were-- to break through the illusion I was trapped in. But it seems like it wasn't my mind that your magic touched. It was my own magic. Your magic spoke to mine and broke whatever had trapped it from getting to the rest of my system. She managed a grin. "Think of it like plugging in a defibrillator." She rubbed her hands together. "I suspect that your magic is a communication link-- it crosses barriers that are blocking other magics from taking effect."

Vincent's eyebrows rose higher as he listened to Ellie's theory, and he gave a slow nod. The theory made sense, in an odd way... it was still very strange, however one looked at it. Just when one question was answered, it seemed that two more arose. This was going to be a very interesting bit of discovery.
"I'll see what Smoke says about it," he told Ellie. "I should speak to him soon -- as soon as possible." And in the meantime, I should probably be careful about my singing, just in case.

Ellie nodded. Yes, Smoke was the best person to go to. She wanted nothing but good for Vincent-- she hoped he learned about his magic.
That brought another nagging question back into her head. Ever since the sleepwalking-- no, her mind corrected. Ever since breaking out of the enchantment, the mark on Ellie's stomach had been reacting to her magic. It looked like an old scar-- it had no texture that differentiated from her skin, but showed several shades lighter against her normal pigmentation. She had no clue who to go to for that-- she supposed she should talk to Silvius.

Vincent stood up and stretched. "Thank you for your time, Ellie. I'm going to see if I can find Smoke and ask him about my magic. Wish me luck," he said with a grin, and slipped quickly out of the sickbay, shutting the door softly behind him.
