Gym classes were usually first thing in the morning or late in the afternoon, Bird had learned, and most students who wanted to use the place usually came in even earlier before breakfast or on weekends. The dojo-area was less regular, but the door between it and the gym proper was always closed and usually locked. He used this knowledge, gained by days of stalking in his free time, to his advantage; on Thursdays he had no classes, and so he had the time to wait around until the place emptied out between ten and lunch to have some fun.
In ten minutes he had set up every net, hurdle, and strange metal thing he had access to in every shape he could think of and prepared to run the ultimate freeform obstacle course. The only thing he regretted was that he couldn't release a couple of academy freshmen in the maze so he could chase them around a little.

Sam didn't quite know what to think of the state of the dojo as she walked into it. Her first thought was Holy fuck, this a glorious MacGyvering of a Ninja Warrior course.
This was immediately followed by I am NOT cleaning this up.
She bounced once on her heels and propelled herself forward for a few strides, gripping the nearest bar and hoisting herself up and over, balancing in a horizontal position for a moment or two before flipping over the bar and landing back on her feet at the other side, tipping her head to one side to flick her hair out of her face.

Bird crouched behind one of those padded gymnastic-wall things and prepared to launch himself over it, through a net-maze sprawled over the bleachers, and across a field of soccer-ball "mines" to start, when he heard a noise.
He tilted his head and sniffed the air; nothing in particular. He skittered halfway up the wall and peered around it in the direction of the sound.
He immediately recognized Sam as one of Seraph's brood, though he didn't remember his name. Damn. This was the problem with guessing times... though he seemed to be having fun?
He climbed the rest of the way up the wall and perched atop it, watching Sam curiously.

Sam kept her momentum from her landing and rolled forward, hopping back to her heels and running on the balls of her feet to the opposite wall, dodging and leaping over obstacles as necessary. She took a massive jump from the floor and slammed both feet into the wall, extending her legs to push her off, curling her knees to her chest and flipping several times in the air before she landed in a crouch, on hand lightly touching the floor between her legs before she was up and running again. She bounced up the bleachers and dropped off the side, landing in a bunch of netting that caught her with a bit of give. Sam smiled to herself, satisfied, and folded her arms behind her head.
"Very nice," she said aloud.

Bird grinned ear-to-ear as he watched.
"Thanks," he said. "I wasn't planning on sharing, but if you want... You're Sam, right?"

Sam made a noise somewhere between a gasp and a quack and twisted around in her impromptu hammock, falling sideways and out. She landed on all fours on the floor ad stayed there for a moment, catching her breath before standing upright and looking around for the speaker. She found him, high above her eye level.
She grinned amiably up at him. "Uh... Yeah, that's me." She tapped her index finger to her nose to affirm this statement. "What's up... ah... Bird? This is quite the setup you have, here."

He shrugged. "Bored. Can't go into the forest, nothing to hunt. So." He waved his hand at the setup and leaped off onto a rolly-cage that once held the balls on the floor, leapt off just before it careened into a number of poles (having forgotten the rolly bit), did an impressive if entirely unintended roll through a box obstacle, and landed in a rather undignified manner in the field of balls.
Bird pushed himself up and stood, brushing himself off. "Yeah. Something like that." He grinned.

Sam put both hands to her mouth and tried failed to stifle her laughter. This quickly degenerated into a chuckle and she clapped her hands, nodding in approval.
"Glorious," she announced, stopping a ball with her heel and it rolled toward her. She stooped to pick it up, spinning it lightly in her fingertips. "I think you should do it again. Hee~."

He stretched is back where he'd landed on it and looked over the course.
"Sure. Race you around it, from the nets to the parallel bars and back?"

Sam smirked. "Can do."
She retreated a few paces, marking a starting line with a few of the balls. "Start on three?"

Bird hopped over to stand behind the line. "Sure."
"One..." He stretched his legs out. "Two..." He crouched down closer to the ground, glancing at Sam.
"Three." At the beat, he leapt over the balls and dashed through the net maze in a strange, if apparently workable, mix of running on all fours and doing it normally.
