(( Post-Adler Repercussions)) It had been a relatively quiet day-- not one injury or illness to speak of, aside from a strange winged iguana flying by the windows several times, chasing small furry creatures that Ellie hoped weren't students.
So it was an honest surprise when Hoshi came into the Sick Bay, carrying a student.
And an honest shock when that student was Kemekin.
Ellie pushed herself out of her seat and rushed to meet the pair. "What happened?" Brow furrowed, she pushed her hair out of her face and pulled the curtain back from the nearest cot for Hoshi to place her nephew on. "Did he have another seizure?"

Hoshi gently spread Kemekin out on the cot, then sat down in the nearest chair. He looked up at Ellie and shook his head. It was hard to tell her what had happened, but she had a right to know. He took Ellie's hand.
"Nina got angry at Kemekin over something and punched him," he explained slowly, keeping a tight grip on her hand. "Kemekin did what he could to heal it himself, but I think that took most of his energy. He passed out after. When I'm done here, I intend to track down Nina and see that she's properly punished."

Ellie blinked a few times, confused. Nina had punched Kemekin? She had seen them playfighting before, out in the courtyard, but surely Nina wasn't strong enough to--
And then Ellie remembered, back at the beginning of last semester. Rivienne had pitted Nina and Kazari against each other. Ellie had witnessed the aftermath herself. Nina was certainly capable of seriously injuring Kemekin, but the thought of her attacking him seemed so off-kilter that she was having a time believing it.
She turned her attention to Kemekin, then. His pulse was normal, but there was tender tissue at one side of his skull. She took care of this swiftly, checking for any other injuries that Kemekin might have missed. She didn't find any-- yet his energy was so depleted that it must have taken quite a bit of focus for him to heal.
"How bad was it, for him to have passed out after?" she asked aloud, not to anyone in particular. She had run him through several magic exercises the day before, but that shouldn't have depleted his energy to such an extent. She brushed Kemekin's hair out of his face with her free hand. There wasn't a scratch on him, now. She couldn't imagine what state he must have been in a few minutes before.

Hoshi pushed himself out of the chair and wrapped his arms loosely around Ellie's waist. He rested his chin on her shoulder.
"Should I go find Nina, or do you want me to stay a bit longer?" he asked quietly.

Ellie watched Kemekin breathe for a few moments. Her panic at seeing him unconscious had quickly ebbed-- she could think of an infinite number of things that she would rather have happen to her nephew than for him to have another seizure, and though she was certainly not happy about the fact that he had been hit, she was relieved.
Hoshi's warmth comforted her. She folded her arms over his and stayed silent for a moment, thinking. There was nothing more she could do for Kemekin-- if he'd had any serious injuries, he'd healed them. All that was left was for him to sleep and recharge. As for Nina, Ellie had learned from experience that when she lost her temper, she usually accepted whatever punishment came to her without argument, be it from a teacher or from Haneul.
She was more confused than anything.

Nina had walked from the gym to the sick bay in silence. She reached the door and was not surprised to find it open-- but she was relieved when, peeking in, she saw that Kemekin had been completely healed. She wondered why he was asleep, but then she noticed that Professor Yogo was there, in the bay.
Nina blinked a few times, took a breath, and coughed.
"Is... he okay?" she rasped.

At the sound of the young woman's voice, Hoshi turned in place. She looked repentant, even worried, but that could hardly change what she had done. Hoshi loosed his arms from Ellie's waist.
"He's going to be fine," Hoshi said coolly. "I'd like to have a few words with you in private, if I may? Afterward, if Ellie allows, you can see Kemekin." Hoshi gestured to Ellie's office.

Nina bit her lip and nodded. She was not going to argue with Hoshi-- especially not with Ellie nearby. Nina shot the woman an apologetic glance before walking into the office.
There were two chairs facing the desk, with another behind it. Nina disregarded all of these and stood with her arms straight at her sides, preparing herself. She didn't know what she expected-- she had been yelled at before, by other teachers, but she had never heard or heard of Hoshi raising his voice.

Hoshi closed the door behind them and leaned against the wall, his arms crossed over his chest. As angry as he was, he hated to do this. Nina had always been a good student, and if he had not seen it with his own eyes, he would have doubted she was capable of such a malicious act. Hoshi was quiet for a moment.
"I think we can both agree that what you did, whatever your reasons, deserves a very severe punishment," he began slowly. "You could be expelled for this, you know. If I left you punishment to the headmistress, you likely would be."

Nina nodded, watching the Professor's eyes. It hadn't occurred to her that she could be expelled, and now that it had been mentioned she wondered why she hadn't considered that consequence.
Of course, before she'd done it, she hadn't been considering anything at all.
"Are you going to leave me to the Headmistress?" she asked. Veronique hated her, whatever her reasons. Nina had learned not to wonder what those were.

"No, I'm not," Hoshi replied. His eyes never left hers, strangely emotionless for the professor. "You're going to have detention every Saturday for the rest of the semester. If you can give me a reason not to, I won't suggest that the Headmistress ban you from the Greece trip."

Nina looked down, then. Professor Yogo's expression, though calm, reminded her uncomfortably of Haneul when he was upset.
"Yes, sir," she conceded. Inwardly, she winced. She wondered what would have happened if she had stayed in the classroom after hitting Kemekin.
"I think," she added, after a moment of silence, "that... it would be best if I didn't go on the trip."

Hoshi nodded. "Very well, then. I'll talk to the headmistress about this, and make sure that she knows your punishment has already been decided. I expect you to report to my classroom at nine o'clock next Saturday morning for your detention."
He was quiet for a moment, and let out a soft sigh. "If Ellie will allow it, you may go see Kemekin."

"Yes, sir," Nina said again. She bowed her head, brow furrowed. She had so been looking forward to going on that trip, but there was certainly no reason for her to be allowed to go after what she had done.
She hurried past the professor, and came back into the bay with her mouth already open to speak to Ellie. She froze, though, and closed her mouth. Ellie had seated herself at the edge of Kemekin's cot and leaned towards the boy. She was brushing her fingers through her nephew's hair with a quiet sort of half-smile on her face, the very image of a mother with her sleeping child.
Nina folded her arms over her stomach, staying where she was. She didn't have the heart to get between them. After another moment she turned on her heel and walked slowly from the room, promising silently to herself that the very first chance she got, she would apologize to Kemekin.
