As soon as Kemekin stepped out of his dorm room, he realized that he had no clue what he wanted to say to Nina once he found her. If he found her. He had an idea of where she might be, but he was not going to go anywhere near Haneul's room to see if his theory was correct.
Kemekin sighed and started off at a jog, heading towards the gym.

Nina had been heading back from the mess hall when, turning a corner, she almost got knocked over by a jogging Kemekin. The book Nina was carrying fell to the floor as she steadied herself with one hand against the wall.
"Careful there," she said, stepping forward to pick up the paperback.

Kemekin flinched -dammit, stop DOING that- and held up his hands as if to help her, though he stayed a step or two away.
"Sorry." Kemekin knelt and scooped up the book before she did. He looked up to hand it to her and found his face quite close to hers. Kemekin coughed, straightened, and tousled his hair as he handed Nina the book. "Sorry," he said again, more quietly.

Nina got the feeling that that second sorry wasn't for the collision.
"It's okay." Nina hooked her hair behind her ears and looked up at the boy as she took the book.

"No." Kemekin sighed. "No, it's not okay. You apologized to me and I left you hanging. Er... bowing." He shook his head in an attempt to clear his thoughts. "Whatever. Listen, I'm really sorry. I just didn't know how to deal with it. One second I was scared you were going to hit me or something, and the next thing I know you've got your forehead to the floor. I've seen enough of the movies to know that that's a really humbling thing for someone to do--"

Nina held up a hand to stop his speech. Kemekin managed to keep from flinching, but Nina noticed that his eyes shot to her hand and stayed there. Nina felt the corners of her lips turn down.
"I wasn't expecting forgiveness. I just wanted you to see that I really am sorry. It wasn't fair or right for me to hit you at all-- especially not a mountain fist to the face." Something that might have been an apologetic smile crossed her features. "I'm actually surprised you're talking to me. Really surprised."

Kemekin mussed his hair and stared at the blond's feet for a few seconds, ashamed at his show of fear. He felt his face heat up and rubbed the back of his neck.
"Yeah... about that... I mean, I understand that you're closer to Haneul than anyone else-- you certainly had a right to be mad about what I'd said, but believe me, I didn't mean it. I wasn't thinking about anything that was coming out of my mouth when I'd said it. Hell, I can't even remember what I was ranting about when it happened." He reached out and gripped Nina's shoulder. "I would never disrespect you or Haneul on purpose. And I say on purpose because I don't watch what I say, and I know it. You know it." He half-smiled. "You might not be looking for forgiveness, but I am. So..." He tipped his head to one side. "So... could you? Forgive me? I promise, I'm not mad at you. A little scared, maybe, but that's just because I didn't know what was going on. I didn't think you could get that mad."

"Yeah, I didn't think I could get that mad, either."
Nina watched Kemekin for a few seconds. He seemed to understand the situation better than she did-- which only confused her more. But he was here, and apologizing for something that Nina could never fault him for. Especially since Nina was at fault for this entire situation.
The whole thing struck Nina as rather funny.
"Aramis," she said, feeling a smirk tugging at her lips, "told me that you were thinking about as clearly as I was-- 'bout as clear as mud." She blinked a few times. "And Jaebi had joked that I was a lot more like Haneul sometimes than any blood relative could be. Even a monk can make mistakes. But I hurt you, and while I can't fault you for walking away, I almost want you to be mad at me. I'm not upset with you at all, now, and it only confuses me that you're not upset, either."
Nina gave him a respectful bow of her head and pulled away from the hand he had placed on her shoulder, saying to him as she turned to walk away, "It might be better if I stayed away from you for a while."

Kemekin furrowed his brow as she stepped away.
"It might be better if I stayed away from you for a while."
Kemekin bit his lip and strode forward. He grabbed Nina's waist and spun her so she was facing him, pulling her into a tight hug.
"You're a little masochist, y'know?" He rested his cheek atop her head, taking in the familiar scent of citrus. "I'm forgiving you, whether you want me to or not. It would be terribly mean of you to not let me do that." He smiled. "And pretty girls aren't allowed to be mean."

Nina froze and listened. She couldn't help the smile that sprawled across her face.
"You're weird," she said, hugging him back.
