Alex looked over his shoulder at Hitoshi from where he'd been shredding cheese and chopping spinach. "Coffee's over there; I can help more if you want, after I stop smelling funny."
He immediately hopped past Hitoshi, nearly tripping over his pajama bottoms, grabbed an outfit he'd laid out earlier and some toiletries, then made for the bathroom.

Hitoshi finished chopping up the vegetables, chopped up a few peppers for himself, then set the eggs on the counter to wait for Alex. If Alex did actually want to learn to cook, he was going to make sure Alex was there for the entire process.
While Alex was in the shower -- which was also something he would do well not to think about, especially without a readily available source of cold water -- he decided to busy himself with making sandwiches for lunch and trying to figure out what he and Alex were even doing. Because as much as he wanted to be with Alex (or at least for him to be with someone other than Blaise, though that was probably just him being petty), not knowing was almost worse.

Alex had a much harder time not thinking about Hitoshi, though in much different terms. While he'd mostly dashed into the restroom for other reasons, he was terribly nervous about Hitoshi's reaction to... everything. He had no idea what to say, or not say, or whether Hitoshi felt any better or Hitomi meant that he should've immediately caused a resolution or, oh god, or what.
After a short wash, he was clean, and he wrapped up his sopping mop of dreadlocks in a towel, put on some pants, and came out.
"All right, sorry for the wait. What do we need to do next?"

Hitoshi heard the door open and immediately put away the sandwiches, then fished the eggs out of the fridge. "The eggs need to be beaten before we can do anything else, so if you could just--" Hitoshi looked back at Alex and nearly dropped the carton of eggs, and for a moment he just sort of stared. Damp and shirtless was...a very nice combination on Alex. His face went overly warm and he tried to remember what the hell he was even doing before.
"You. Um." He blinked. Omelets. They were making omelets. "You...you'll need get a bowl and beat the yolks and whites together until they're smooth. Get however many eggs you think you're going to eat. Three or four is probably a decent number."

Alex blinked and suddenly realized the problem. He tugged the towel over his chest and turned bright red. "Sorry. Uhm. I- let me find a shirt-"
He skittered over to his backpack and realized all of a sudden that, one: the best he could do was sort of crouch behind the bed and hope the angle didn't show anything else, and two: it was still thirty freaking below in here. He shivered throughout his entire body.
"S- so did you have a good night's sleep?" he said, stuttering half out of chill and half of nervousness.

Hitoshi attempted alternately to look at Alex and look anywhere but at Alex, and eventually just sort of settled on picking at the chopped peppers and pretending he was actually doing something.
"I did, actually," he murmured. "I..." He glanced back up at Alex for a moment, and seemed to realize something. "...If you're cold, you can turn the thermostat up. I don't want you to freeze to death."

Alex eventually settled on a nice brown cotton pullover. "Thank you. Are you sure you don't mind?"

He shook his head. "I can deal with it. If we're going to the beach, I'm going to have to deal with the heat anyway."

Alex headed over to the thermostat and knocked it up a few degrees.
"I'm sorry for making you uncomfortable." He grabbed a bowl, a spoon, and some eggs and began cracking them open and stirring them up. "Really. And the whole... thing last night, I suppose you must remember."
He sighed. "Hitoshi? Did you have a strange dream last night?"

Hitoshi leaned against the counter a few inches away from Alex, watching him closely. Omelets weren't terribly hard, at least at this stage. The hardest part as actually cooking them.
"Strange how?" Hitoshi raised an eyebrow at Alex. He didn't talk in his sleep, at least to his knowledge, and he was fairly certain he would have noticed if Alex had tried to read his mind.

Alex resisted the urge to reach over and play with Hitoshi's hair, not least because he would have to wash his hands again if he did.
"Well," Alex said carefully. "I had a dream about that prophecy, and... someone mentioned talking to you about it."
"She also, I admit, told me I should learn to cook," he said more softly, watching Hitoshi's reaction, "and that if I ever hurt you again, the wrath of the gods would look like a blessing compared to what she'd do to me. In far more eloquent terms than that."

Hitoshi's eyes widened slowly as the impact of what Alex was saying slowly, slowly sunk in. "You... you can add in the rest now," he said quietly. He licked his lips. "What did you think of her?"

He smiled softly. "She seemed like a very nice woman. I could see the resemblance to you, and I was... honored that she spoke to me. Confused, but honored."
"She told me quite a number of things, but... if you don't mind, I'm curious as to what she said to you? If it's not private, I mean, things... oh hell, I can't possibly ask that of you if you're still mad at me." He shut his eyes and tried to swallow the nervousness and pain that came up of a sudden. He grabbed the vegetables and cheese and dumped them in, mistakenly adding some of the jalepenos too. Oh, well, he could cut more. "Sorry."

Hitoshi's expression softened, and he debated whether or not hugging Alex would be overstepping. "You had no right to say what you did, but...but I would really like to believe what you said about not trying to hurt me." He grabbed a few more peppers to make up for the ones Alex had lost. He was more worried that Alex wasn't going to like it than anything.
"Both of us said things that we shouldn't have." He pressed his lips together and stared down at the bowl. "I'm sorry, too. You were right. That wasn't a fair question to ask you."

Alex stirred some more. "I was worried," he said, "and I was scared, and I'm still scared; but I could have done this whole thing in a way that at least hurt you a lot less. If I'm expecting you to cope with me not knowing what I want, then the least I can do is cope with you being possessive."
"Of course," he chuckled, "if we were both mature enough not to fly off the handle and turn this into a giant emo-fest, it wouldn't have needed to happen in the first place, I guess. And none of this remotely excuses going where I did, even by accident."

Hitoshi nodded. "You asked what my mother said to me. She-- go ahead and pour it in the pan." He sighed. "She told me a few things I already knew, but...there were some things that needed to be said. I think it helped me a lot."

"That's good." Alex did so. The egg-and-stuff mixture flowed out into the pan and quickly began to bubble.
"So... is it too early to ask what sort of terms we're on?"

Hitoshi watched the egg bubble for a moment. "What sort of terms would you like to be on?" he replied slowly.

"I want to be friends," Alex said neutrally. "I want to talk about some things, and well, after I can actually talk to Blaise in person, I wouldn't at all mind if someone else asked me out."
He smirked slightly. "I doubt he cares, but it would still be polite to break up with him in person. He's cute, but that isn't going anywhere I want to go right now."

"I think I can afford him that luxury, if nothing else. I'm sure he'll have no trouble finding a replacement date for prom." Hitoshi gave Alex a slight smile.
"You'll want to flip it once the edges start to get a bit brown. Go ahead and start loosening it with your spatula." Hitoshi picked up the spatula and handed it to Alex. He smirked. "And for future reference, you're more than welcome to walk around the dorm without a shirt."

Alex began nudging the spatula underneath one side of the omelette. He'd gotten it nearly flipped over when Hitoshi made him blush.
He tugged at his shirt. "Uhm. Thanks. For future reference, you're more than welcome to say things like that more often."
Alex managed to flip the omelet over, but not to keep from grinning.

It didn't take long for them to finish the omelets, and while Alex's came out a bit more mangled than Hitoshi's, both of the omelets seemed perfectly fine. Hitoshi dumped the dishes in the sink, grabbed a a soda from the minibar, then took a seat on Professor Yogo's bed.
...He might need to apologize to the professor, all things considered. There hadn't really been a reason to snap at him like that last night, even if he was angry. And he still had every intention of talking to Dr. Evans-Barros about healing lessons the next time he saw her.
"We should probably eat quickly, if you still want to go to the beach with Hitomi."

Alex nodded. "I guess I'll put sunscreen on when we get there. I hate doing that; it takes so long."
"Though..." A smirk ran over his face. "No, I won't. Even if you agreed, I don't think I could stop laughing nervously."
"Are you still going to wear a shirt?"

"I'm not sure." Hitoshi picked at one corner of his omelet, then took a bite. He had a feeling what Alex's opinion on the matter would be, which made it slightly more tempting to forgo the shirt. It probably wasn't nearly as big of a deal as he was imagining.
"I wouldn't mind giving you a hand, if you needed the help." He glanced back up at Alex. "I'd suggest doing it here just to be safe, anyway, but then I have no idea how long it would take you to burn out there."

Alex grinned. "So it took us all of a day to get back to incredibly awkward flirting. I'm impressed."
"If you think your sister can wait- or if we have enough time- I wouldn't mind. It doesn't take very long at all..."
