"Hmm. That's a good point, but I don't think I'll be able to decide on anything else. I guess if I don't like it, I'll just get more bread."
He grinned at Hitomi. "Oh, is that the spinach-phyllo whatsit? I love those."

Hitomi grinned. "Great, I'll give you half. Then I think I'm getting the...whatever this one is, I don't know how to pronounce it, but it sounds good."
She glanced back over at Jaymie. "Hey, will you split a dessert with me? The gelato sounds amazing, but if I'm judging the size right from that picture, it's way too much for one person."

Hitoshi eventually decided on cheese and lobster ravioli, since he could probably steal a bit of calamari from Alex if he wanted to try it, and he wasn't sure he was in the mood for a full meal of squid.
Eventually the waitress came back around and took orders. They seemed to have lucked out and gotten someone who spoke at least a little English, though her accent was thick and she wasn't terribly fluent. Hitoshi ordered one of the soups as an appetizer, the house wine and the ravioli, then handed the menu back.

Jaymie laughed. "I'm not sure why you bother asking. Sure."
He smiled at the waitress and pointed to what he wanted.

Alex ordered his squid, bruchetta, garlic bread, and water in Greek; the waitress looked a little relieved. He looked curiously at Hitoshi. "You're getting wine? Is this one of those culinary-nerd things?" he said half-jokingly.
"I'm still curious what you did today, by the way." He smiled at Hitomi.

Hitoshi smirked. "Mostly, yeah. The house wine is made here, which you don't really see in America. Usually you just get imported wine in the states, except for in some parts of California. Greek wine tastes much different from normal Californian or French wines, too. I think it has something to do with how they store it, but I don't remember exactly."
He glanced back at Alex. "You don't mind if I try a bit of the calamari, do you? I'd like to see what the local kind tastes like."

Hitomi shrugged. "We mostly just browsed through different shops. We were planning on going to the beach tomorrow, which was why we were going swimsuit shopping, if you guys want to come." Hitomi beamed and glanced from Alex to Hitoshi.
"That means you, too, 'Toshi. You could do with a bit of sun, you know."

Alex smiled warmly at Hitoshi. "Of course not. Can I try some of yours?"
"I was hoping that was what you were planning." He grinned. "I'll come if Hitoshi hasn't been scared off by... well. Are you inviting everyone?"

"Everyone but Tristan." She smirked. "He'd freak out if he saw the swimsuit I bought. I think my roommates are coming, and probably the Hawks and Professor Harrows, too. And I'll bet you the Aetais will come, or at least Notos will. Who knows, we might be able to get everyone to come."
She grinned at her brother. "Come on, it'll be fun. What do you say?"

"I'll go, but I'll probably just sit on the beach. I didn't think to bring swim trunks." He shrugged. Getting into the water wasn't exactly priority number one, anyway. And the more he thought about it, the less enthusiastic he was about running around in so little clothing in front of so many people.
He glanced back over at Alex. "Of course. I'd offer you some of the wine, too, but I don't know if you'd like it."

Hitomi leaned forward onto her hand and gave her brother a devious smile. "Well, if that's your only objection, I'm sure we can find you something. Swim trunks aren't that expensive, and I'd hate for you to miss out on any of the fun."
She looked at Alex slyly. "You agree with me, don't you?"

Alex gave Hitomi a perfectly innocent smile. "Oh, I don't know. Warm sun, cool water, hordes of shirtless men- if he really wants, Hitoshi can stay in the hotel and do his homework while the rest of us enjoy the panorama."

Hitoshi glanced between the two of them. He decided he really didn't like it when Alex and his sister got together.
"I said I would go," he said coolly. "I don't need to get in the water."

Alex looked over Hitoshi. What was he being so reticent over?
"You don't like swimming?"

"Swimming is fine. I'm just not sure I want to do it in front of so many people."
At some point during the conversation, the waitress had apparently brought over the drinks for Hitoshi and Alex, though Hitoshi wanted to wait to try his until he got his food.

Alex sipped his water. "Would you mind if I asked why?"

He shrugged slightly. "I'm just...not sure I want to wear swim trunks around that many people," he said quietly, paying significantly more attention to his silverware than to Alex or his sister.

"Ohhhh." He smiled again. "Well, in that case, you did say I could keep teasing you, so... please?"
Alex leaned over with both elbows on the table and gave Hitoshi his most adorable pleading look. He would be so hurt if Hitoshi didn't come. So terribly hurt, and no one wants that. "You're not the only one, anyway. I'm not going out there without a shirt- I'd die of embarrassment or the sun or both."

"I'm not embarrassed," he muttered, though his reddening face seemed to indicate otherwise. "It's just..." He sighed. Damn Alex. Damn Hitomi.
"I'll go, but I still need to get swim trunks, and I don't promise to get in the water, especially if there are as many people there as it sounds like."
