Rudeth wandered into the room as evening approached, tired from a long day out with Aritha. He had several souvenirs in hand--a book of traditional Greek recipes for Hitoshi, some handmade earrings for Hitomi, a Greece soccer jersey for Carmen, a little white bracelet-thing someone told him were Worry Beads for his mother, and a little statuette of woman in purple that was supposed to be lucky. Rudeth wasn't entirely sure whether to believe it or not, but it was a nice figurine all the same.
He put the souvenirs away for the time being, except for the lucky statue, which he set on the nightstand. With her violet eyes, dark brown hair, and severe expression, she kind of reminded him--rather absurdly--of his brother, and he kind of wondered how Thrall would have reacted if he ever told him such.
Rudeth flopped down on the bed closest to the television and started flipping idly through the channels. It was kind of weird not sharing a room with Thrall on vacation... Usually it had been the two of them together. And as nice as being with Aritha was, it just wasn't the same as Thrall. He considered dragging Jaymie out later to make trouble in his brother's memory, but he didn't think it would be nearly the same. Jaymie had never even gotten to meet Thrall.
Rudeth eventually settled on watching some Nickelodeon cartoon dubbed over in Greek, laying upside-down on the mattress and staring at the screen.

Jaymie stumbled into the room and remembered to close the door before collapsing onto the bed. Oh, dear sweet bed; if he hadn't been so caffeine-addled, he would've gone to sleep right then and there.
Ooh, someone else was in the room. Was it Hitomi's uncle? Jaymie pried one eye open. No. No, he was much smaller than that. Uhm. That was...
"Hi 'Tomi's cousin," he said brightly, and waved at the man. Boy. Manperson a grade ahead of him. "Why're you back at the room this early?"

Rudeth peered over at the blond, the sound of the Spongebob Squarepants theme playing in the background. Well, he thought, at least they left that in English.
"Hey, what's up?" He yawned, then pushed himself upright. He was momentarily disoriented and rubbed his head. "Got done hanging out with Aritha and wasn't sure what else to do, so I came back to the room."
That wasn't entirely true, of course. Rudeth had several ideas for what he could do... He just wasn't that interested in running off and getting into trouble if it wasn't with his brother.
He though wistfully about the last field trip they went on, when their mother had generously signed the permission slips to let the two of them drink in France and ended up drunk in the hotel lobby, with Rudeth trying to convince the receptionist that No, really, I SWEAR there's a giant snail in my bathtub, and it's really mad about the whole snail-eating thing and says it's going to eat all the hotel guests in revenge! and Thrall just kind of rolling on the floor and laughing at him. He'd been planning on getting Thrall back for that this year, but it didn't look like that was going to happen.
"What about you? Weren't you with Hitomi?" Rudeth flipped away from Spongebob and ended up on some old Buffy the Vampire Slayer episodes, also dubbed over in Greek.

"Mmmmhmm. She went to buy Hitoshi swim trunks. She said to tell... me tell you to not to tell your uncle." He yawned deeply. "But we're going swimming tomorrow, and you're invited."
Jaymie peered closely at Rudeth, rolling over on his side and untying his shoes. "You look bummed. Would it be rude to ask?"

He laughed lightly. "Sounds fun. It's been a long time since I've been to the beach. Why doesn't she want Tristan to know?"
He yawned, then sprawled back out on the bed, looking over at Jaymie. "Nah, it's cool. It's just kind of weird without Thrall, you know? I'm...guessing Hitomi told you about what happened."

Jaymie half-grinned. "Because she got a new swimsuit too."
"Uhm." He thought. Hitomi had mentioned a Thrall. Thrall- oh shit. That was Rudeth's twin brother, the one who'd- oh hell. "Uhm. Ah. Yeah, she did." He never really knew what to say when the subject of dead relatives came up; 'accepting your own mortality is a pretty sweet deal' was about all he knew about the subject, and somehow he suspected that it was different when it was someone else going to die. Or had died. Especially when there was crazy magical shit involved.
