Peace stood outside his dorm room, knocking his head into his door not quite hard enough to hurt.
The door would not open. He had tried wiggling the handle. He had tried shoving it open, and it had cracked a little, scaring the crap out of him, but it hadn't opened.
Somehow, it had gotten locked behind him, and he didn't know how to get it open without smashing it.
He sighed deeply.

Reed halted midstep and glanced over at the redhead, who was quite possibly trying to beat a door in with his forehead.
He raised an eyebrow. "Having trouble?"

Peace turned around and looked at the man behind him.
No; specifically, he looked down at the man's chest, because that was the angle he was used to people's heads being at. Seeing that this was very much not the case, he couldn't resist glancing further down before moving his head back up.
Good lord. This guy was taller than he was, and ripped.
"Hi," he said brightly, smiling a little. "Yeah, I just- I locked myself out somehow." He gestured to the door. "I tried to get it open, but it's not working. Do you know if there's a catch or something?"

Reed smirked and peered at the other student out of the corner of his eye. "You could just try ripping the door of its hinges," he suggested. "I don't think the headmistress would like that much, though."

He grinned. "Yeah... I tried shoving it open, and it already cracked the frame a little. I do not have the money to replace that."
"You know," Peace said lightly, "I'd think I would've noticed you before. You don't look like the forgettable type."

"You'd think so, wouldn't you?" The corners of his mouth turned up slightly. "I have an unfortunate tendency to blend in with the shadows." Reed jiggled the handle slightly; nope, definitely locked. He licked his lips. "Don't move. I'm going to try something."
Reed glanced around the hallway. Dunehelden was always full of shadows and light -- dark places where he could disappear when he chose, bright places where he could feel alive and whole. He didn't have to worry about accidentally stepping into shadows and freaking out passers-by here.
Reed stepped into the shadow of the wall, and suddenly found himself standing somewhere beside the television set. Thankfully the light from the window kept it light enough that he was still substantial; Reed wasn't sure what he would have done if he had gotten into the room and his hand kept passing through the doorknob.
Reed flipped on the light, mostly for his own comfort, then flipped on the light and opened the door.

"Nice power. Ah... guess I should've cleaned up this morning, at least. Sorry about that." Peace's grin only got brighter.
"So can I thank you by name, or are you going to disappear into the shadows again, only to appear at the sight of a damsel in distress?"

He grinned and stepped out of the way, leaning against the wall. "Reed Kwan, and I'm not typically the sort to rescue damsels. So what can I call you?"

"Well, I'd be up for a lot of things... but most people call me Peace." He crossed his arms. "Thanks, Reed. Do you live on this hall, or are you just a really tall high-schooler?"

"Peace, huh?" Reed crossed his arms over his chest, glancing around the one bedroom dorm. "I'm about four doors down." Reed jerked his head toward his dorm room.
"I don't think I've had any classes with you. What year are you?"

"Hmm. Maybe I can see the inside of your room sometime? Seems fair." Somehow, he smirked charmingly.
"Freshman. I'm mostly taking core stuff... and music... and I'm supposed to be in the Werewolf classes, but I would've had to drop stuff I needed more, so. You?"

Reed chuckled slightly. So he hadn't been imagining the slight flirting earlier. Peace wasn't bad looking, either, though not exactly Reed's usual type.
"Sophomore. I haven't settled on a major yet, so I'm mostly dicking around and taking a mix of core classes and whatever sounds interesting at the time." He gave Peace a half-smirk.

Peace nodded. "Yeah, that sounds familiar. I don't know if I'd even be here if my life were a little more normal, y'know?"
"So..." He smiled. "If you're not tired of my questions, I'm getting hungry. You wanna get some dinner or something?"

"That depends." Reed grinned. "Are you going to lock yourself out of your room again?"

Peace's mouth opened, and he looked a little embarrassed. "You know, let me grab my books first. At least then I can do my homework later if I have to sleep in a tree or something."

Reed laugh lightly. "If you're in need of a place to sleep, I'm sure we could work something out," he replied archly.

"Oh, that's kind of you; not sure I could concentrate on my homework that way, though," Peace teased. "I guess I'll burn that bridge if we come to it. Just a sec."
He ducked into his room to grab his books, deciding also to grab a less doofy-looking shirt to change into. Moving quickly, he was halfway back out the door before he noticed which one he'd put on.
He smiled at Reed. "Ready."
