It hadn't taken much to convince the headmistress to give them leave to go prom dress shopping. Actually, all Hitomi really had to say was that her brother needed a dress, though the headmistress had proceeded to insist on escorting them herself and...well, Hitomi had a feeling Hitoshi wouldn't appreciate it.
Her aunt was elsewhere in the mall, probably lurking around one of the bookstores or one of those little knick-knack boutiques, or whatever people over thirty did at the mall.
Rivienne had agreed to give them a bit to spend on prom clothes, which was probably a good thing. While Jaymie and Aritha had both volunteered to make a dress for her, she was still going to need accessories, and she had a feeling Alex would need a suit. Not to mention -- and the very idea made her giggle -- her brother was going to need a dress. Sometimes she loved the headmistress's inane policies.
Lucky for them, not only was Hitoshi built to very easily fit into any number of prom dresses, but his measurements were close enough to hers that she could very easily pick out what would work best with his figure. (Jaymie had measured. Hitoshi had protested, quite loudly in fact.)
And thus, here they stood, in the heart of the mall, right in front of the map. The mall had changed a great deal since the last time Hitomi had been, but it was still mostly the same layout. There were plenty of department stores -- J.C. Penny's, Sears, and Macy's, among others -- as well as smaller stores specifically for prom dresses, and other shops for accessories and more alternative clothing.
Hitomi beamed back at the others. "So, where to first?"
