Jaymie lounged on a couch in the living room, watching TV and waiting for Aura. She'd said she wanted to come over, and anyway, he was dead bored: there was nothing in particular he wanted to make, it was raining out, and homework didn't count as something to do- besides, it was only Saturday. It was days like this he couldn't wait until he had his own car, or even better, looked old enough to go clubbing or something.
If Fall turned into a person right now, I'd find him and punch him in the face, Jaymie thought irritably. Maybe he and Aura could raise some hell together.

This, Aura reflected, was going to be a very...interesting conversation, to say the least. Providing, of course, that Aura didn't chicken out of it. And Aura prided herself on being a very brave person -- first rate Gryffindor material, Mateo would call it, bless the poor boy and his little Harry Potter phase -- and had no intention of chickening out. Probably.
She had been to Jaymie's house plenty of times in the past, sometimes multiple times a week, but somehow it always seemed to baffle her just how extravagant his house -- hell, his whole neighborhood -- was in comparison to where she lived. They didn't even have enough rooms for Aura to get her own bedroom. She had been sharing with Juliana until her sister moved out for college, but since Xavier had insisted that, as the oldest, he had more right to having his own room, she'd ended up sharing with her younger brother.
Jaymie's house, on the other hand, was several stories high and had enough guest rooms for her entire family to live comfortably and probably not have to see each other for days at a time. And he had a pool, though Aura still preferred the beach.
Aura slipped soundlessly into Jaymie's living room, which was remarkably easy given her new...discovery, crouched low behind the back of the couch. This simply wouldn't do. Aura grabbed one of the nearby throw pillows -- she was never quite sure if Jaymie or his mother was to blame for that -- and pummeled Jaymie in the face with it.

Jaymie scratched the back of his head and flipped through the channels. Boring. Stupid. Boring.
He had a split second to note something blue-and-yellow checkered flying towards his face before it smacked him square in the face, though to his credit he managed a spectacular leap off the couch after the fact, landing square on his feet.
A look of skeptical astonishment crossed his face when he saw Aura, followed by a grin of hellish glee as he dove for his own throw pillow and attempted to return fire.

Aura, who was too busy stifling giggles to pay much attention to Jaymie, was nearly hit with the return attack. Luckily, she had the couch for protection, and immediately dove for cover.
"Hey, is that how you treat your guests?" Aura quipped. "Really, Jaymie, that's just rude. Also..." Aura grabbed the pillow from the floor and launched it back at Jaymie. "You aim is terrible."

The second pillow was dodged much more easily. "Guests? Hah! I won't be tricked," he pronounced dramatically. As soon as the pillow hit the floor, he pivoted gracefully and kicked it back in Aura's direction in a spiraling arc.
Careful, don't want anything weird to happen. "A guest would have come in the front door- you're not a guest, you're obviously a ninja."
The pillow sailed over Aura and the couch and landed on an end table against the wall, nearly knocking several knick-knacks into the floor. Jaymie's sense of dignity came abruptly trampling back to him.
"...Sorry." He grimaced. "I am really bored."

Aura raised an eyebrow, glancing back at the little glass knick knacks on the floor. One of the rabbits had lost an ear, and the creepy little cherub-thing had its head knocked off -- though personally Aura thought it looked better that way.
"I can tell," she deadpanned. Aura hopped over the back of the couch and took a seat on the cushions, tucking her legs up beneath her. "What's the matter, your sewing machine broken or something?"

Jaymie went over to the table and picked up the throw pillow. At least nothing of actual value was broken- his parents didn't usually leave that sort of thing out on unguarded tables, thank goodness- but his mom would still look really sad at him if she noticed there was something wrong before he put them back together. Motherly guilt was not something he wanted to deal with over dinner. He scooped up the pieces, then walked back over to sit the throw-pillow back on the couch.
"I have, like, no inspiration right now. Everything I try comes out hideous." He sighed. "I need to fix these- think the glue gun's in my room. Your day been cool and everything?"
