Name: Asha Rios
Age: 28
Birthday: May 1st
Height: 5'5"
Weight: Average
Gender: Not particularly.
Appearance: Asha is shortish and androgynous, with shoulder-length golden hair and dark eyes. (Not golden-blonde. Shiny glittery gold. It's a long-term illusion.)
Personality: Usually pretty calm, hard to ruffle, very kind. Firm, has strong opinions, can become a hardass when it comes to not letting people hurt each other, or intolerance. Constantly seeking the truth in every situation, whatever its importance. Can be a little wishy-washy when unsure about something, takes a long time to make important decisions. Paradoxically impatient when going places and doing things; cannot sit through an entire movie.
Knows aikido, speaks Spanish and Sanskrit very well, with reading profiency in several other liturgical languages.
History: Lived in Nevada with their mom's family; dad had a job that meant he wasn't around that much, but they were pretty close. Has spent most of their life bouncing between various religions and philosophies, from Catholicism to existentialism to Thelema to philosophical atheism, with little success, though one of the dumber things they tried to find eternal truth with seems to have made their magic emerge.
Fascinated by magical theory, particularly the origins of magic and the early history of Werewolf and vampire civilization. Loves the idea of Dunehelden, and applied here to work with a more diverse population than the school of High Magic they were teaching at.
For Mages
Magical Strengths/Powers: Asha's greatest strengths are with illusions and basic material transmutation. They work better without the complicated ritual stuff of alchemy- uncommon among transmutation talents- but it's usually slow going. As far as they're concerned, illusions are quicker, and often just as good.
Magical Weaknesses/Flaws: Asha is bad at transmuting living material, as well as doing other things to it like healing. It's just too complex- and necromancy isn't much better. To an extent, they're just bad at stuff that doesn't have a nice symbolic system attached.
For Staff
Position Applied For: Professor of Illusions, and the Magical Theory classes not to do with High Magic.
Qualifications: MA in Occult Archaeology from the University of Toronto focusing on the origins of magical civilization, certificate of accreditation in the theory of illusion magic, three years' experience as an assistant teacher at the School at Tenochtitlan.
