Player's Name: Emi
Name: Austen C. Driscol-Clark ((see what I did there?))
Age: 15
Grade: Academy Sophomore
Birthday: 23 January
Height: 5’7’’
Weight: 137 lbs
Gender: female
Appearance: Austenis a Cashew has a build that suggests that she had been much smaller before going through a very recent growth spurt—she is quite slender, but has long limbs (especially in proportion to her torso) and a long neck, which would be quite pretty if she wasn’t ducking her heard apologetically every few minutes. Her skin is creamy-pale, but she has rosy cheeks. Her eyes are black; she needs glasses, but usually opts for contacts. Her hair was originally a mousy brown color, but when her magic awakened the curls turned cotton-candy pink. And yes, to go with the candy theme, I’m going to say that her perfume of choice smells like candy. She has a light scar on the lower right side of her back from an accident the summer before coming to Dunehelden.
Austen always wears dresses. (Or some skirt combo thing.) Always. Her general style follows Lolita fashion, her palette being black and white with shades of red, pink, or purple. There’s also a pretty fair chance that she’s gone and added lace trim to the skirt and blazer of her school uniform.
Personality: Austen is, above all things, sweet. She strives to make things easier for others and is very, very apologetic when she does even the most minor things wrong. As such, despite her attempts at being amiable, she tends to be a bit of a patience-tester. She also get frustrated easily and bursts into tears at frequent intervals when things go wrong and she’s certain that she’s at fault. Not that’s she’s afraid of getting into trouble, she just doesn’t like causing trouble for others. Little things about her surprise people, though. Like, she’s clumsy when it comes to trying to walk and chew gum at the same time, but her hand-eye coordination is amazing (thank you, childhood fascination with ping-pong.) Also, she has an unusually high-pitched voice (yes, it sounds like that) and, being from Jersey, speaks with that pronounced Newsie accent.
History: Austen led a normal life—her mother, a schoolteacher; her father, a butcher. She lived with her parents, three sisters, and great-grandfather Nicholai in an apartment nearer the middle of her hometown. Nicholai (the one who enchanted her glove collection) was the only living mage in the family until the summer after Austen’s freshman year of high school, when she fell from the top car on a ferris wheel and lived—by landing in a huge pile of caramel corn that HAD been a prize cart moments before.
For Mages
Magical Strengths/Powers: Austen’s magic is specific to Transmutation. As it is, she can only change nonliving objects… and she can only change them into candy. Granted, she’s only recently awakened, so…
Magical Weaknesses/Flaws: Austen… doesn’t know how to turn her magic off. If she touches something with her bare hands that isn’t protected by an enchantment or some kind of barrier, then it’s more than likely going to take on a new, edible form. Oddly enough, her magic doesn’t work on glass or water, in addition to sentient things. The limits on the amount of matter she can change vary depending on her state of mind-- if she is panicked or angry, then her magic can influence an impressive amount of matter (I'd say it's a safe estimate for her to be able to turn an entire fully-grown tree, or, say, the whole of the curtains in the auditorium.) In a calm state, her magic cannot change much more than a large book or parts of larger objects, like the seat of a desk, or a doorknob.
