The Athenaeum
The Athenaeum is Dunehelden Academy's biggest, and only, rival. The school is much, much smaller and more selective, letting in only a hand full of students each term. The scruples at The Athenaeum are, to say the least, questionable, but their willingness to do whatever it takes to attain greatness allows them to grow more rapidly in power than those at Dunehelden.
The Athenaeum is currently headed by a man known only to his students as "Mortale" -- a necromancer of such incredible power that he refuses to teach any classes for fear of revealing his secrets.
The Athenaeum is made up of students who have abandoned their former lives in favor of gaining as much power as possible. There are no age requirements, and there are no degrees to be had here. Only power, blood, and destruction. Of course, the typical age range -- especially among non-vampires -- tends to be about the same as Dunehelden. Teenagers come to learn, and when they've reached adulthood, they leave.
The Athenaeum admits Mages, Vampires, and Werewolves most often, but occasionally, a Mortal will strike Mortale's eye, and he will admit them.
The characters of The Athenaeum may occasionally appear in the plotlines of the main roleplay, so this takes away some of the necessity of creating NPCs for those plotlines and gives the players the ability to control them.
No player may have more than two characters in The Athenaeum unless given special permission.

Character Creation Pointers
- Just because this school is more "evil" in nature doesn't mean every single character must be a cold-blooded killer. Even Mortale isn't entirely evil.
- Think about why in specific your character is here and how they feel about Dunehelden. Are they here because they like the less-structured environment? Because they want to gain power whatever the cost? Did Mortale simply get to them first, and they saw no reason to bother going to Dunehelden afterward? Or do they have a friend or a loved one they can't stand to part with? Don't just take for granted that they're here instead of DH.
- Think about how they interact with their fellow students/teachers here. Most of these people aren't overly kind people, so they're not going to interact the same way as the people at Dunhelden.
- How do they feel about Mortale? He's not the most well-liked person, but he's incredibly powerful, and he shows no mercy when dealing with students. Does your character respect him? Hate him? Adore him?
