Angel decided he wanted to talk to people.
Students usually congregated in the lounge, outside of anything specific to do; so, he found his way in there, took a seat in the corner, and waited for anyone interesting to show.

Lamadre raised her eyes lazily from the freshly printed school newspaper, her attention briefly drawn away from such dull things as the choir concert and the lunch menu. (Really, who in their right mind served nothing but cake on for lunch? But then, no one in this school was in their right mind, it seemed.)
She raised an eyebrow, staring over the newcomer. "Hello," she called with mild interest. "Haven't seen you before."

Ooh.
"Most people don't," Angel grinned. "You're Lamadre. What're you doing?"

Lamadre raised an eyebrow. "Until just now, I was reading over the school newspaper. It's terribly dull, unless of course you're a fan of absurdity and non-sequiter." She folded the newspaper back, up, sliding it across the table to him.
"You know me, then?" She mused, "I certainly don't recognize you from any classes. Where have I seen you before?"

"I thought you said you hadn't seen me." He smiled broadly, a flicker of amusement in his eyes. "I've seen you, and people talk about you."
He picked up the newspaper and flicked through it idly. "...These comics are really badly-drawn. Isn't there somebody better who could do them?"

"Probably, but no one who wants to have anything to do with the school paper," she replied, shrugging. "And you haven't told me your name."
She raised an eyebrow. "People talk about me, do they? And what do they say?"

He chuckled.
"That you're pretty, that you're nice, that you ask many questions, that you help people that seem useful. Boring things like that."

She snorted. "How very dull. I was hoping for something interesting. Rumors that I spit fire and eat small children for breakfast or some such thing." She reached for a glass of water, grinning as she brought it to her lips. "Of course, those are the rumors about the headmistress, aren't they?"
She set the glass back on the table, sliding around on the sofa so that she was facing him. "Let me see if I can guess what you are," she announced. She smiled. "Twenty questions to guess whether you are a mortal, vampire, mage, or a werewolf. Yes or no questions only, naturally."

He laughed. "Only that? That's too easy; anyone could do it in three. Try something more specific and I'll go for it."
"And yes, you've been very good at preventing anything more interesting from getting out."

"Very well, ten questions to guess, and you may veto any question you believe is too telling," she replied smoothly. "For example, if I were to ask what your favorite class was, you could say that you could not answer it, since many classes are specific to what you are. Does that seem more a challenge?"

"Oh! That's perfect; and I'll promise not to abuse the power too much. Each one I veto, you can retry if you like. Ten answered questions."
Angel wondered if she was going to ask for anything if she came close enough to guessing correctly; he really hoped so. 'Mortal' was likely to be out if she thought like she seemed to think, anyhow, which made the odds a bit better.

She grinned, hugging her leg to her chest. "Very well then," she murmured. "What to ask..."
"Are there many others like you in your family?" she asked.

"Not that I know of- which is a no, I suppose." He pulled his feet up into the chair and leaned over to lay his chin on his hands between them.

"Hm." Lamadre considered this for a moment. Mortal was out, of course, but then, she hadn't been expecting that. She grinned.
"Have you only become what you are in the last few years?" she asked.

"Hmmm." He looked at the ceiling for a long moment and considered how to answer that.
"Yes. Generally speaking."

Lamadre raised an eyebrow, curious as to the meaning of such a statement. It should have been a fairly straight-forward question... "Generally speaking," she repeated slowly. What on earth could that mean?
"Is this your first year here?"

'Mmhmm, generally speaking." He rather enjoyed her reaction.
"I wonder why that's relevant to your aim, but yes."

"This is your first year here, your family is not like you, and you have not been what you are for very long," she summarized. She smirked. "Generally speaking, of course."
She thought for a moment. "Do you fancy yourself more powerful than most others of your age and kind?"

"I don't 'fancy'," he mimicked her teasingly. "I am, objectively speaking."
Within the terms she was speaking, at least.

"Do you believe that you are more powerful than most others not of your kind?" she asked.

"Halfway through, pretty lady; are you much closer?" His expression was growing bored.
"I'll be kind to that question: finding that out is one of the major reasons I'm here."

She smirked. "I am inclined to believe you are not a werewolf," she replied. "Or a mortal, of course, though I never really thought that of you."
She grinned at that, laughing a bit. "Is that so?" she mused. "Well then, I hope we can help you with that goal." She leaned back against sofa. "I have only half of my questions left, do I? I suppose I had better look at things more specific." Lamadre opened up a small metal tin, pushing it toward him. "Would you care for a cookie?"

Angel looked at the cookie tin, then at Lamadre, grin coming back. "Now we're getting somewhere."
"Thank you. Yes." He took a cookie and slipped it into his pocket.

Lamadre stared at him for a moment, bemused. That was certainly unexpected. "Are you planning to eat that yourself?" she asked, folding her arms across her chest.

He stuck his tongue out at her. "No."
"You've got three left. What're you going to use them for?"
