Notos didn't really allow Zephyros to regain his footing until they were well past the wall of the courtyard and deep into the forest. Zephyros shivered; he had never really liked the feeling he got under the trees, and now they were in the thick of it.
"What are you planning, Notos? If we get caught out here..." he left his statement hanging. He was supposed to be the GOOD brother... why was he suddenly giving in so passively to what Notos wanted?
"What exactly are we supposed to be doing out here in the middle of the trees, in the dark, when we are told the most to stay AWAY from the forest this late?"

Notos smiled finally letting go of his brother. At first he seemed not to have noticed what his brother said. He looked around at the thick forest they were a good ways out from the school and it was quiet, completely windless. His smiled widened, that would change soon.
"No one out here to hear us Zephy, if a tree falls in the middle of a Fae forest no one wants to hear it. We won't be bothered here and for this stage of our training that's what we need."
He walked up to the nearest tree and rubbed his hand against it slowly then resting his forehead against it.
"So Zeph, what do you think we are capable of?"

"Very stupid things, as evidenced by the fact that we are here," Zephyros grumbled. He yawned so widely his jaw popped and leaned his back against a different tree, watching his brother. What had gotten into Notos? WHY couldn't this have waited until... oh, tomorrow? Which was Saturday. So he could sleep in.
He sighed, looking around. He didn't really like the expression on his brother's face... didn't like the shadows the forest cast on it. Zephyros leaned his head back, looking through a gap in the leaves at the sky. "What do I think we are capable of? We can, if the weather is conducive to it, create storms like tornados, hurricanes... We can strengthen storms already there... We can cause a lot of damage. Why would you want to add to that?"

Notos laughed, but it was mirthless. He closed his eyes as the wind whipped gently through the trees around him. After a few moments he opened his eyes his face set in a grim smile.
"You think that is all we may do? I think you lack imagination Zeph. So much potential goes to waste with out imagination."
He appeared to think for a moment.
"For instance," he said holding out a hand.
The soft wind that had been playing through the trees picked up and became more concentrated. Turning his hand slightly downward a twig from the ground arose. He stared at it as if searching if for something. Face set he closed his eyes tight.
The wind picked up harder and harder and became more concentrated on the twig. He continued this way for a few minutes until the air was dead with no movement and the area around the twig seemed thick with an unseen energy.
He opened his eyes, they were bright red. Notos moved his gaze to a tree not a few feet away and then with no warning, no other motion the twig sliced into the tree. When finally he lowered his hand the twig was buried halfway through the thick trunk.
His eyes were fixed on the tree when he spoke, and he spoke more to himself then Zephyros. "In a tornado when the wind is at it's most potent they say it can send a straw through a brick wall."
Notos said no more, just started at the tree, looking disappointed.

Zephyros bristled at Notos' insinuation.
"Perhaps, Notos, my imagination is directed at more useful things than causing damage," he snapped, standing quickly and going to the tree. He put his hand lightly on the trunk amazed at how the tiny twig had been and how it had been driven into such a strong tree. Now it piqued his interest and he turned to Notos. A slight hunger awoke in him and he turned to Notos, his green eyes flickering to gold.
His voice was soft now, “My gift has always been with gentle winds, those that share my name. Little breezes, zephyrs… Save when I have lost my temper. I want that power… the power I hold in my rage. I want to control it…”
He wrapped his fingers around the twig and jerked it out of the tree, handing it to Notos. “I want what you have, and yet you speak to me of growing stronger. You are already stronger than I am, but you think I can help you grow stronger?” He laughed mockingly.
