Jonathan's first realization when he woke up was that he was no longer pinned to the floor. His second realization was that he was not in the sick bay anymore. His third was that he was in a ton of pain.
He groaned and opened his eyes. He was lying on the floor of the assembly hall. Several of the chairs around him had been upended and now lay in twisted heaps on the floor. Jonathan tried to stand, but his whole body screamed in pain, and so he remained on the floor, staring up at the ceiling. His mind, no longer distracted by trying to stand, tried to sort out the events of the night before.
Jonathan had been in the sick bay, stealing things. Something had happened, he had blacked out, and then he had awakened a few minutes later. He had been chucking things at the wall, and then something scared him, and he had turned and saw...
...oh shit.
The last part of the memory hit Jonathan like a ton of bricks. The two creatures... he remembered all of that, right up until he had agreed with the game. After that, it was just bits and pieces, a whirlwind of colors, lights, and fear. Jonathan knew enough to piece together what had happened, though. And it made him pissed.
"Fucking... I'll..." He stumbled to find words to describe his rage. "...kill... everything..."
Eventually, he managed to pull himself to a sitting position. Glancing around, he saw that the damn symbol was still there. Jonathan had completely forgotten about the symbols in all the drama that had happened. But now... he didn't care about drama, about school, about anything but discovering why he had been targeted the night before.
Specifically, he wanted to learn the meaning behind what the creatures had said about his origin. Jonathan refused to believe that anyone but Ian was responsible for his creation. But there was no denying that what the creatures said might have some merit... after all, Jonathan had never seen anything like them before, and they seemed very sure of what they said. Whatever the truth was, Jonathan was going to find it, and then he was going to make whoever was responsible pay.

Ian preferred to think that he wasn't really looking for Jonathan. He liked to think he was just wandering, and that if he happened to locate Jonathan, then he would deal with the situation. Which is how he ended up in the assembly hall. He was just wandering.
Catching sight of Jonathan on the floor, Ian hesitated. The younger boy looked angry. But Ian knew that Jonathan was his responsibility, so he had to make sure that his creation was alright. Slowly, Ian approached Jonathan, holding his hands out in front of him in a gesture of please-don't-kill-me.
"...Jonathan?" He asked softly. "Are you alright?"

Jonathan turned to face the new arrival. Great. Fucking great. The last person Jonathan wanted to see was now approaching him. Groaning, Jonathan pulled himself to his feet and steadied himself against a chair.
"Oh, I'm just peachy." He growled. "No massive amounts of pain here. How are you?"

Ian took a step backwards. "Jonathan... what happened?"

It was at that point that Jonathan strode forward, grabbed Ian's collar, and dragged him to the nearest wall. He slammed Ian into it, and the mage yelped in pain. One of Jonathan's hands held Ian's shirt collar in a clawlike grip, and the other jabbed a finger in Ian's face.
"You want to know what happened?" Jonathan roared. "I'll tell you what fucking happened! I was attacked. I was hunted, Ian. I was hunted like a fucking rabbit. They chased me, and they killed me, but somehow I'm here, alive, and it a lot of pain. That's what happened." His fist slammed into the wall next to Ian, and the mage flinched. Pain shot up Jonathan's arm, but he didn't care. He was totally focused on the cowering boy in his grip. "They said some interesting things to me, the creatures. Before they hunted me down for sport..."

Ian squirmed in Jonathan's grip. He tried to process what Jonathan was saying, but the boy was only barely making sense. "What... erk... what did they say?" He asked hesitantly.

Jonathan snorted. "That you weren't to blame for my creation. That something else was... and you just chose my form, or something like that." He thought for a moment. "And the forest. It talked about the forest a lot. And magic. So it has something to do with the forest and magic." Jonathan glared at Ian. "Is any of this making sense to you?"

Ian shook his head. "Not at all. I've been doing some... er... research to try to figure out what happened, but it hasn't turned up anything. I was going to go ask Smoke if I could have access to the rare books, or if he had any theories... and then last night happened..." He squirmed a bit more. "Can I... uh... can you put me down?"

"No." said Jonathan, but his mind was on other things. Smoke... he has to know, or have some idea. And Ian may be closer than he realizes... Damn. First there's what I found when I was alone, and now this... this school is insane.
"This school has too many secrets." Jonathan declared to no one in particular. "I intend to discover a few. And you're going to help me. You're going to find out what I am. That'll start you on the past for redeeming what you did to me by creating me. And as for me..." Jonathan glanced over at the symbol. "I'm going to find out what those are."

"Alright." Ian agreed, nodding. It was better than the alternatives, he supposed, and he was already working on the problem. "I'll do that... let you know what I find. Can you put me down now?"

Jonathan sighed. "Whatever." He snarled, and hurled Ian away from the wall. The mage crashed to the floor. Without checking to make sure he was okay, Jonathan turned and headed towards the door. It was going slowly, as he was still in massive amounts of pain. "Let me know what you find. I'm going to our room to change, since I seem to have pissed my pants."
With that, Jonathan stormed out the door to the assembly hall, letting it slam behind him. Ian would be fine. He always was.

Ian lay on the floor, coughing. He was in pain, which could be expected. And he didn't particularly feel like standing, so he stayed on the floor and thought about what had just happened.
Jonathan hadn't really given him a lot to work with, but he would make do with it. He was supposed to be smart, after all. And as long as he was feeding Jonathan information, perhaps the boy would back off.

Korlian walked cautiously by the hall, peeking in. Symbol, blond boy, upturned chairs... wait... Blond? Where was Jonathan? He crept in slowly, his eyes narrowed as he moved slowly closer to Ian. No, the mage looked okay. That was good. Korlian would have had to have done something about it if things had been otherwise. Nodding in satisfaction, and curious to see the state of the rest of the school and those he had claimed as his, he started to move away...
And stumbled on a chair, his attention having still been on Ian. He yelped and found himself tangled in with the metal which was luckily non-ferric. Damn it. Completely undignified. Of course, being five foot two and like this again is just as bad. Damn it!
He struggled to get free without getting hurt, pulling himself loose with a minimum of crashing.

Ian pulled himself to a sitting position at the sound of crashing. Slowly, he worked his way from a sitting position to a standing position. There wasn't too much damage. Good. Encountering an angry Jonathan was like being hit by a car.
At first, he moved to help whoever was pulling themselves free of the metal. "Are you-" was as far as he got. In that moment, he recognized the boy. The same one that had suddenly transformed into a full-fledged Fae the night before. "Korlian?" The hesitation vanished, and Ian hurried to help Kor to his feet, ignoring the pain in his back and legs. "Are you alright?"

"My dignity is screaming in agony," Korlian grumbled, dusting himself off. He looked Ian over carefully. "I should be asking you that. I saw how you were moving. Let me take a wild guess... Jonathan. Thought he would have learned his lesson."
He looked around the room. Odd; he remembered more carnage. Shrugging, he looked at Ian again. It seems rather strange to him that Ian hadn't run. After all, Korlian... well, he had managed to terrify most of the school the night before, and as he recalled, Ian had been back stage. And luckily enough for him, not enough to catch Korlian's attention.

Ian shook his head. "Nope. Whatever happened to him, and I don't really know what since he didn't much talk about it, seemed to only piss him off. And give him a strange sense of determination to find out what he is." Ian scratched his head. "Funny thing is, though... he said some weird stuff when he was tasking me with finding out what he is. Like that I'm not the cause of what happened, and something about the forest..."
It was odd, talking to Korlian after what had happened. Ian remembered seeing Kor in his full glory, but oddly, he didn't feel relieved that Kor was back in this form. Well, he did, but in a strange way, he also felt sorry for the boy. The emotions were vying for control of Ian's brain. Either way, Ian decided that at the very least, he could give Kor a chance to prove himself instead of running for dear life.

Korlian couldn't help the slight smirk that turned up his lips. He looked around at the hall, at the somewhat devastation in the room. "I think it was being scared that pissed him off so much. But then, everyone was scared last night, weren't they?"
He chuckled a little, "Even that high and mighty vampiress. I'm going to have to tread very lightly for a while..." His face grew serious, and thoughtful. His grey eyes still danced with humor and secrets, but he was also concerned. Professor Hawk would probably not remember the promise he'd made... but Korlian had still upheld his side. Hopefully, the man's own nature would help him... But first Korlian needed to make sure those he cared about... or was interested in, were okay. Jonathan... he knew that boy's condition perfectly. But the healer-boy, and the wind-boy, Zephyros... Of course, Korlian would have to include the werewolf, Jason as well. Well, Ian is mostly okay... I haven't checked on the Hawks or Professor Harrows, but I'm pretty sure they're all okay too...

Ian nodded. "That's... a good idea. You nearly gave me a heart attack in the auditorium, and whatever you did to Jonathan, it must have been pretty bad..." He glanced at the door, half expecting Jonathan to come bursting back in.

Korlian smirked again, "Pity he didn't learn his lesson from it. If he had, he would know better than to throw you around."
He turned and looked Ian over carefully. "Are you certain you aren't hurt? I didn't think anyone in the auditorium was in danger, but I've been wrong before."

Ian shook his head. "I'm fine, really. I'm better than fine. I'm not injured at all and life is a lot better. So I really should be thanking you, assuming what happened was your fault..."
"And Jonathan's not learned anything. Which is his problem. He's very obsessive... his obsession used to be torturing me. Now it's finding answers. Eventually, if he doesn't learn anything, he'll drop it and move on to something else. I, on the other hand... probably won't."

Korlian looked at him curiously. "What do you mean, you won't? Oh, you want to know? ...Of course you do."
His expression grew very thoughtful, a smile dancing at the corner of his lips. No, he wasn't going to just tell him. That was no fun. But hints... hints were fun. "The forest and magic. Perhaps you should do a bit of research on the Celts, hmm? The reason they were afraid of the dark... And how they explained children who were a little odd. It might be helpful."
Grinning, Korlian tilted his head to the side. "If you're certain you're okay, I'm going to go see how other people I care about are. The wind-mage and his wolf, the healer-boy, Ariel and her father, and the nice wolf-professor. Most especially the healer. He was outside the auditorium and I never found him last night."

Ian nodded, mentally writing down everything Kor said. "I'll check on that. That should be simple enough to find, and I won't need access to the restricted books. If I've been looking in the wrong place..."
He shrugged. "I'm... fine, really. Like I said, better than fine. And I'll keep an eye out for any of the people you're talking about... send them your way if I find them." Already his mind was processing the information he had already learned against what he needed to find out.

Korlian nodded, "No need to send them my way. I'm sure I'll find you again, and if I haven't found some of them, then you can just tell me how they are. So, you have fun in the library, I'm going back into the hallways and looking for certain people. Be careful, I don't want to hear that you've gotten yourself beaten up again."
Korlian waved and left, seeing that he'd given Ian a great deal to think about. That's okay, it might help keep the boy out of trouble. Not that Korlian had any room to talk, but he was better at getting out of his trouble.

Ian watched Korlian leave, thinking to himself. He needed to see Natalie to her room so she could get some sleep. He, on the other hand, was wide awake, and had work to do. Brushing himself off a final time, Ian hurried out of the room, ready to begin his research once again.
Jonathan was right about one thing. Dunehelden had a lot of secrets...
