Jonathan, who had finished stuffing his face with any food he could get his hands off, brushed the aforementioned hands on his shirt and made a beeline for Alex, who now stood alone. This was happening very quickly. Much quicker than he had expected, as he wanted to try some of the hot chocolate, but oh well. It sucked to be an asshole for a living sometimes.
"Excuse me." He said, tapping Alex on the shoulder. "I was wondering if you could help me with something."

Alex was too busy watching Ian and Natalie to notice Hitoshi had begun speaking until he was already walking away.
"But-" Alex looked wistfully at him, then sighed and got out his peppermint bark, considering what next to do. It wasn't as good as his mother's, as one might expect, nothing ever is, but for a moment he was in peppermint heaven. He was nomming a piece of it when he felt a tap.
"Hmm?" he smiled at the boy. Who was- ah. Ah, no, he knew exactly who this must be, even if he was being polite at the moment. He swallowed his candy and looked at Jonathan. "Maybe. What is it?"

Jonathan smiled politely and raised his hand. "I'm looking for a mage, about... this tall? Black hair, glasses. Did you see where he went?"

Angel had made it about halfway towards the pretty vampire boy when Frog skittered over and leaped on him. "Gah!" He spun around, to no avail; the snake had him gripped tightly.
"They don't grow, silly thing; they're put there. It's a ritual." He took the proffered cane and stuck the long end into his mouth. "Though I can see how the idea would appeal to you. Having fun? Just two more weeks 'til the solstice." He grinned and broke the thing's tail off in his mouth with a loud snapcrunch, then pulled Frog's face down to kiss him.

Alex thought of a few different comments he could make, but just shrugged. "You just missed him. He's over there," Alex gestured.

Jonathan smiled and patted Alex on the shoulder. "Thank you so much. His boyfriend will be very happy to know that I found him."

Alex raised an eyebrow in confusion, but the expression passed quickly. Why in the world was he politely asking for Hitoshi, and... boyfriend? Alex's initial reading of that couldn't possibly be true. It was just too... no. No, this was something very strange.
He nodded calmly to Jonathan and took out another piece of peppermint. "You're welcome."

Take the bait. Take the- fuck. Jonathan ignored his thoughts and turned away. "I'll go tell the boyfriend that I found Hitoshi. Hope you have a nice time at the dance!" He waved to Alex, and then backed off a few steps, secretly watching Alex through the crowd.
Let the doubt begin...

Hitoshi glanced back at Alex across the crowded room. Jonathan? What was that asshole... Well, Hitoshi wasn't worried. Alex could handle himself well enough, and Jonathan probably wasn't stupid enough to try anything here. Probably.
He slipped through the crowd, leaning against the wall. "You call yourself Angel, right?" Hitoshi asked, narrowing his eyes. "Enjoying the dance, I take it?"

Frog grinned, sliding off of Angel's back and holding out one of the candy canes toward Hitoshi. "We're enjoying the dance a lot!" he beamed. "Would you like some candy?"
He turned back to Angel, tilting his head. "I still don't understand why anyone would put candy on a tree," he replied. "Couldn't they just make them grow with magic? That would be much more interesting."
"And Angel really liked the cookies we made in your class," he continued. "Oh! They put out more brownies!"
Without waiting, Frog skittered back off to the snack table.

Angel looked down from his kiss towards the little mage boy who ran the cooking class.
"Hell yeah," he winked. "Hitoshi, right? The one with the cute, single sister? Why don't you grab a boy and some punch, have some fun?"

Hitoshi twitched slightly. "Stay away from my sister," he said venomously. "I think you and your kind have done enough for her. If you so much as go near her..."
Hitoshi clenched his teeth and pulled back slightly. Getting emotional wasn't going to help the situation. It was probably exactly what Angel wanted.

"Shit, relax. I've got more than enough on my plate as it is." Angel looked down at him with a condescending little smile, something like a Great Dane with a kitten nibbling its paw. "So what is it you want? You're too loyal to want a roll yourself, it's not about your light, and I had nothing to do with your cousin's little explosion..."

Hitomi clung tightly to Peace's arm, listening intently for any voices she recognized in the dense crowd. She perked up slightly. Was that... Alex?
"Hey, Peace, do you see Alex?" she asked, tapping his shoulder. Given how much Peace towered over everyone else -- herself especially -- Peace was certain to see him. "Did Hitoshi actually come with him?" She snickered. "I wonder which one of them got stuck wearing a dress. Let's go talk to them?"

Hitoshi narrowed his eyes. Calm. He couldn't let the bastard get to him.
"You should be more careful about extending invitations to everything you see," he replied, "or is your little pet really that indifferent about the sort of trash you take home?" The corners of Hitoshi's mouth twitched into a slightly smirk. "Speaking of which, you wouldn't happen to have seen Lamadre around in the last month or so, have you? No one has seen her since her last lesson with Alex. Strange, isn't it, that you were the last person to see her?"

"Ooh, a fifteen-year-old virgin, best relationship advisor ever. No, scratch that, I'll go ask the little blonde Wind, you're one bare notch below him." He stuck his tongue out.
"And how the hell would you know who saw Lamadre last? She's a grown woman with more agenda than an office supply store."

Alex was watching Hitoshi, wondering what business he could possibly have with that vampire. He paid little mind when he noticed the adorable- uh, person- leaping at the brownies, though a part of his mind registered that they looked familiar.
He grinned and waved when he saw Hitomi and her date, then slipped his present back in his pocket and headed towards them.

"From what I can tell, you have one single person in this entire school that actually gives a damn what happens to you," Hitoshi replied icily. "If you were half as intelligent as you like to pretend, you could stand to show a little loyalty yourself. Just a warning."
"You can deny all you want, but I'm not as blind to you as everyone else. I'll be watching you." Hitoshi turned on his heel, making his way back to the snack table.

Hitomi released Peace, shoving through the crowd and throwing her arms around her brother's boyfriend.
"Alex!" she exclaimed gleefully. "I'm so glad you came!" She grinned. "I take it Hitoshi didn't take too well to my kimono idea?"

Kemekin was rediscovering his love for peppermint. Peppermint bark made him quite happy, as did the little orange and gold cheongsam Nina was currently sporting. Kemekin nudged her shoulder playfully and grinned at her. Overhead, mistletoe made its approach. Oh, how convenient! There was more than one of those things floating around?

Nina smiled, one eyebrow arched, and took the candy that Kemekin was nibbling on. She reached up with her other hand and brushed the snow from his shoulders, standing on her toes to give the boy a swift kiss on the corner of his lips. "You've had three of these," she noted, waving the peppermint bark at him. "You're going to make yourself sick."

Kemekin feigned a pout. "Aw, nuuna. You take away my candy, and I don't even get a real kiss? Sad. You know the rule: pretty girls aren't allowed to be mean."

Jonathan, who was himself hovering near the refreshments, saw a chance to mess with someone else who had left him flat on his back. He slid up behind Kemekin put one hand on the table in front of him. "And pretty boys shouldn't pout." He said, smirking. "Some might see that as an invitation." He moved around so he was leaning against the table in front of the boy. "I'll give you a kiss if you want."

Kemekin smirked. Jonathan was not normally a welcome sight, but it was the holidays, and Kemekin was in a joking mood. "I'm pretty? Oh Jonnyboy, you make me blush." His smirk turned into a crooked grin as he reached out to wrap an arm around Nina's waist, pulling the girl to him. "Thanks for the offer, but I seem to prefer small, blonde, and ninja." To his girlfriend, he added, "Say hi to Jonnyboy, Nina."

Nina grinned up at Jonathan. "Hello there, Jonnyboy," she said, taking a bite out of the peppermint bark she had stolen from Kemekin. "Merry Christmas."
