Alex smiled.
"I would appreciate that. I'm not hungry right now, but after walking around for a bit I probably will be; I could make a sandwich to take with."

Hitoshi shrugged. "We can walk around a bit first, I suppose. I don't have to eat right now." He stomach grumbled something in protest, and Hitoshi wasn't entirely sure why he was willing to go out of his way to cater to the boy.
He glanced back at him, once again feeling that peculiar sensation that he knew him.
He adjusted his glasses, assuring himself that his willingness to go without food was because he was not actually all that hungry, despite what his stomach seemed to think. "Is there anywhere in specific you would like to see?" he asked. "There is the library, the lounge, the court yard... There are also the classrooms. Most of them are locked right now, you can see through the windows, and my uncle or aunt might unlock one of them if you really wanted to see."
It occured to Hitoshi that, at the rate he was going, the boy was going to be under the mistaken impression that he was a nice person.

He shrugged a shoulder. "Whatever's easiest."
Alex mentally did a little jig. It wasn't even the first day of school and he may have already made a friend. There was something odd about Hitoshi, something he couldn't quite put his finger on, but he dismissed that as probably a reaction to earlier events. Or to Hitoshi being called a mage, of all things...
"What's in the lounge?"

Hitoshi thought for a moment. "Well, nothing that impressive," he reponded. "Board games, sofas, a few TVs, movies and video games... There's a grand piano, as well, but I think the only people here right now than can play it are Rudy, Yuuki, and Veronique. My knowledge of piano is limited to finding middle C and counting from there to find a different pitch."
Hitoshi rearranged the items on his desk into neat little stacks, meticulously organizing them until he was sufficiently satisfied. "It's also the place we're most likely to run into other human beings."
Unfortunately, he added mentally. The student lounge was where one ran across people like Hitomi or Rudy. People who felt the need to prattle on about absolutely nothing and then get offended when you weren't interested. People that reminded him exactly why he hated to be around people so much. "If that's where you'd like to go, the mess hall is right next to it, so it's decently convenient. I'm not usually a fan of the lounge, but it should be empty enough right now to not be an issue."

Alex examined Hitoshi's face curiously."You wouldn't want to go talk to people?" That sounded like a wonderful idea, but not if his guide didn't want to go.
"The library sounds fun. I'm sure that's more important anyway."

Hitoshi shrugged. In his opinion, the library was not terribly impressive, but then, he had grown up with magic, and Yaodensi's library was far and away more interesting than anything Veronique had to offer here. (After all, almost anything really interesting was reserved for faculty only...) To a mortal with no background in magic, any of the books therein would probably be endlessly fascinating.
"Sure," he replied, slipping on his sandals. "The library is good."

Alex sat his book aside and hopped out of his bed to grab his own sandals.
"Good!" He smiled. Maybe there would be something enlightening in there. "So what's your tolerance for silly questions, while we're walking?"

"...I suppose it depends on how silly," he responded slowly. "Regardless, I'm sure I've heard worse."
For some reason, he had a feeling that he could tolerate 'silly questions' a bit better from Alex than his family members, which was a rather unsettling thought, given the short amount of time they had known each other.
He was going to have to speak with Professor Smoke about divination and déja vu and the like, he decided. Divination was not his cup of tea - Hitoshi liked to believe that he was in control of his future and not some invisible hand of God or Fate or Veronique or whoever was presumed to be in charge of things - so he had never taken the time to study beyond the basics of scrying and the obligatory tarot reading. Unfortunately, his neglect of divination had left him at a loss for deciphering why he felt so familiar with a boy he hardly knew, which meant he would have to go to someone for help.
He hated the idea of not being self-sufficient, but Hitoshi was not one to let pride get in the way of asking for help when needed.
"Ready?" Hitoshi opened the door, glancing about to make sure he wasn't about to be mauled by werewolves or Lhachlhass or something equally terrifying. If he was lucky, Professor Smoke would turn up at the library.
(The Professor always did have a habit of appearing just when he was needed...)
[[OOC: Edited to say, whoops, posted on Veronique, but it's too late to fix it now XD]]

Alex stood up and nodded.
"Well, if I'm stepping over the line, say something, all right?"
He was looking forward to spending time with Hitoshi. Hm. It's not good to get so attached so quickly.

Hitoshi entered his room, never so thrilled to be in the air conditioning as at that moment. The night was already approaching, and glancing at his watch, he realized it was already 8:30. Which meant he had about thirty minutes at most to himself. A part of him was quite thrilled with the prospect of alone time, but a terribly small part that seemed to be rapidly gaining influence was rather disappointed that it was going to take a full thirty minutes before Alex was back. He pushed that obnoxious part of his brain away.
Now that he wasn't inebriated by the pull of Fate, he could think clearly, which was exactly what he needed. He unfolded his laptop, waiting for it to start up, when it occurred to him that he was rather sweaty and uncomfortable, and the computer would take a few minutes before it was all the way on and connected to the network anyway... He had a feeling he probably didn't smell to wonderfully, either.
It would only take him a minute, of course. Hitoshi gathered up his pajamas, scurrying off to claim the shower.
He also had to admit, the thought of being wet and naked with Alex in the next room bothered him a bit... He had every intention of showering quickly and being completely clothed and dry by the time his roommate was back.

Alex eventually made his way back to the dorms, having chatted quite extensively with Hitomi and exchanged IM names for later.
He didn't particularly take note of his surroundings before kicking off his sandals and flomping on the nice soft bed. Today was a Productive Day; now was time for resting and books. Mmmh.

As Hitoshi turned the water off, he noticed that his room seemed to have noise coming from it. Not noise in the "Oh-god-my-cousins-are-here" way, nor noise in the "That-faerie-boy-found-my-window" way. There was slight creaking, and the sounds of a person shifting slightly. Soft sounds. The sort of sounds that meant there was someone there who probably felt as though the belonged there. This could only mean one of two things: Lhachlhass had seen the window and somehow opened it and reclaimed his bed, or (more likely) Alex had made his way home.
Damn. He had counted on having at least another fifteen minutes. So much for researching those funny little things without the awkwardness of Alex being there...
Hitoshi quickly dried himself off and threw on his pajamas, which consisted of a t-shirt two sizes to big for him and flannel pants. Not exactly the sort of thing one would expect a Future Archmage to wear to bed, but it was plenty comfortable, so Hitoshi was fairly content with it.
He opened the bathroom door, turning toward the desk. His hair, despite his futile attempts at drying it, was still dripping wet, but otherwise he was relatively presentable. Hitoshi still held his glasses in his hand to keep them from getting wet and smudged, and without his glasses and in the shapeless pajamas, it was rather evident just how physically similar the twins were...the same long raven hair, the same steel gray eyes and thick eyelashes, the same high cheekbones.
He smoothed back his hair, slipping his glasses on his nose, and suddenly he was Hitoshi again. His eyes swept toward Alex. "You're back," he stated. "How was it?"

"Uhm." Alex took a minute, seeing him again, being a teenager, et cetera.
He sat up and smiled. "Fun! Productive. I like your sister. You?"

Hitoshi shrugged. "I didn't have time to do much. I went to get something to drink, borrowed a few books from the library, and wrote the Headmaster a note telling her what supplies were short in the kitchen."
He grabbed his laptop, sitting on the edge of his bed and leaning over it. "I was planning on doing some research on this 'fate' thing. Hopefully I'll be able to fine something more concrete soon."

Hitoshi looked at him curiously. "Well, if you insist, these are the books I found at the library..." Hitoshi picked up three books, all rather thick, from the edge of his bed, passing them to Alex. "Start with the one on top. Let me know if you find anything that might be pertinent."
Hitoshi decided that he would rather not mention or even think about the "red thread of fate" theory. He knew just enough to know that it was trouble. If Alex happened across it, he could make of it what he would, but Hitoshi sure wasn't mentioning it...
"I'm checking some online sources," he continued. "They're slightly less reliable, but you can find some information you can't find other places." He paused for a moment. "This might sound stupid, but what's your sun sign? There's usually at least a tiny bit of merit in them. It's at least worth looking at."

Alex took the books and sat them down, happily opening the first one to the table of contents.
"I have no idea. I was born November 22nd," he replied. "And I'm not going to worry much about something sounding silly for a while, so don't worry."

Hitoshi thought for a moment. "Hm, Sagittarius then," he murmured. "Strange, I would have pinned you for a Pisces or a Capricorn. But then, I suppose that's why you can't always trust astrology."
He clicked around, looking for anything about relationships between Aquarius and Sagittarius, carefully avoiding anything that seemed to imply sex. Which was, of course, virtually all of them. Typical.
"So what did you and Hitomi talk about?" he asked, glancing back at Alex.

"How the people here worked, mostly."
Flip flip flip. Well, there were certainly some interesting legends in here; most of them some sort of romantic fluff, but Hitoshi seemed to think there was something else to it. Hmm.

...Somehow he thought that Hitomi had more to say than that. Probably something about him.
He glanced over a bit more. Well, he was on the Scorpio/Sagittarius cusp, but he certainly wasn't a Scorpio. Thrall was a Scorpio. Rudeth was a Scorpio. Alex was a Sagittarius.
He was quiet for a moment, then asked, "If you don't mind me asking...what is your family like?"

Alex tilted his head and looked over at Hitoshi.
"They're nice. My dad teaches literature at a community college, my mom... tends the garden, mostly. My brothers mostly have families in other places and we don't see each other often." He shrugged. Well, that was the short, relevant answer, anyway.

Hitoshi nodded, paying attention closely. A fairly normal, nuclear family. He shouldn't have been terrible surprised, he supposed. The boy was too balanced to have any sort of traumatic experiences. The most unusual thing he would have expected from Alex was 'I have two moms'.
Mentioning Alex's parents remind him that he was still extremely curious regarding the mysterious benefactor who decided to send Alex to Dunehelden... Hitoshi couldn't help but wonder if it had something to do with him.

Hitoshi opened the door slowly, still feeling somewhat sick and dizzy, and starting to feel a bit pissed at Fate for deciding to plague him like this. Thrall was an idiot, true, but Thrall was always an idiot. It never bothered him much before. Obviously, then, the independent variable was Alex. The worst part was he couldn't bring himself to wish that the boy was gone. He couldn't even bring himself to wish that Gussu hadn't ripped his wall apart and forced the two to room together, and that scared him.
Hitoshi bent over the bathroom sink, dousing himself with cold water. This was really ridiculous, he decided. Why was he so worried about how Alex was going to react? If they were destined-what-the-hell-evers then it shouldn't matter what Hitoshi did, right?
But Hitoshi couldn't fool himself; even with his limited knowledge of Fate and Destiny, he knew that it didn't work like that. He was going to have to try to explain this in the least creepy way he could manage. So how was he supposed to explain why he attacked Thrall when even he didn't know?

Alex made his way back to the dorms. He felt a little better and a little worse, but as none of his problems with Dunehelden or with himself were immediately solvable, he was preoccupied with what he perceived to be silliness. It was perfectly all right to find someone attractive, he thought, but to worry so much about what any individual thought of you was the short road to making sure they- as well as everyone else around you- thought you were a complete dork. Because you would be, inevitably.
He had no idea where Hitoshi was, so he knocked on the door first.

Hitoshi wasn't exactly in the mood to talk to anyone, so he simply stayed bent over the sink, staring at himself in the mirror. If it was Alex, he would come in regardless, since it was his room; if it was anyone else, he didn't want to have anything to do with them at the moment, anyway. The last people he wanted to see right now were Rudeth or Thrall.
Hitoshi simply stood there, staring at his own reflection, as if the face in the mirror could answer the questions that he himself could not.
