This is a typical dorm, with light gray walls, one window, two beds, two desks, one television, and a bathroom adjoining to Dorm 102. They may decorate it in any temporary manner they like, such as posters and pictures and things.

Nina squealed as she fought to wrestle the last blanket from beneath the bed. The damned thing had manged to wrap itself around her head and shoulders and get caught between the frame and the wall. With a final heave Nina sent herself rolling backward. She stopped herself in a crouch, balancing on the balls of her feet as she untangled the blanket from around her.
Her work was finished now-- stretched between her bed and Dubhiarr's was a fort of sorts, constructed solely of blankets and pillows and the six-foot plush snake that Seele had bought for her a few years back. The stuffed animal had once been a glorious shade of lime green, but over time it had faded in places and a good third of its surface area was now patches and mismatched stitches in varying thread colors-- none of them green, of course.
Under the fort went the last blanket, helping to form a sort of nest under the tent above. Nina's inner six-year-old was very excited. Oh, this blanket tent was much more fun than some regular bed. She just might have to sleep in this tonight... or the next few nights...

Dubhiarr shifted her backpack off of her shoulders as she pushed open the door and stepped into the dorm. Her backpack slipped from her back and landed on the floor with a flump as she stood staring at what Nina had done to the room. Their beds looked like a child's blanket castle.
"Nina, what the heck is this?" she asked, picking up her backpack and stepping forward after a second or two.

Nina poked her head out from beneath the fort. "Oh, this?" she asked innocently, taking note immediately of her roommate's ill mood. "This is my happy tent." She then added pointedly, "There are no bad vibes allowed in the happy tent."

"Uh-hmm." Dubhiarr gave the tent a cool once-over. "Well, I think we'll have to talk outside the happy tent, since I'm not sure I have many good vibes in me right now."

Nina pursed her lips and furrowed her brow. "This conversation shall then be henceforth postponed until such a time when you can voluntarily giggle for no reason. I bid thee good day." With a smirk she retreated back into the fort, digging around under her own bed in search of a flashlight and one of her sketchbooks.

Dubhiarr frowned, pouting a little as Nina retreated into her cave of blankets and pillows.
"I bet you'd let that Keme kid in regardless of his vibes," she retorted scornfully.

There was a loud bump from inside the fort and Nina peeked out again, rubbing the back of her skull. "That's not fair, Miss MacNamara."

Dubhiarr bristled, automatically snatching a book from her backpack and holding it up threateningly.
"Don't--call--me--that," she snarled. "That's what Creeps calls me, and I HATE him. And--well, bollocks on your happy tent!"
She threw the book--thankfully it was a paperback, and thus not very heavy. But it was heavy enough to send the whole blanket-fort tumbling down on top of Nina.

Nina, sitting lotus-style just inside the tent, glared at Dubhiarr as the fort deconstructed itself instead of getting out of the way. "Thank you," she said from beneath the blankets, her voice simply dripping sarcasm. "My happy tent is now a happy heap."
She made a motion as if to fling the blankets off of herself, but only managed to make them tangle around her. Several minutes of struggling and the poor girl had somehow gotten verily trapped within the ruins of her fort.
"Duuuu!" she half-whined, stopping her flailing momentarily to turn her head in the direction she thought her roommate might be standing, "Help."

Dubhiarr burst into giggles in spite of herself. "Hold on, Nina! I'll save joo!" She took a few steps back, got a short running start and leaped onto the ruins of the happy tent, burrowing in and getting herself just as tangled as her roommate.
"Well, that didn't go quite according to plan," she grinned. "But look at it this way. My bad vibes are gone!"

Nina made as if to toss her hands into the air in triumph, but given her position she wasn't able to get them past the level of her ears. She settles for a "yay!" and a broad grin.

Dubhiarr snuggled as much closer to Nina as the blankets would allow. "So now what, little Peach?"

Nina crinkled up her nose cutely. "I dunno. You wanted to talk-- I wanted to tell stories in the happy te-- eh, heap. I guess we could pretend this was on purpose and call it a happy bomb shelter."

"Well, the happy bomb has certainly fallen," Dubhiarr snickered. She wiggled one arm out from the fluffy cocoon that swaddled her body and reached up to adjust her hair, speaking absently to Nina as she did.
"So how was y-- oh, no!!"
Dubhiarr wrestled out of her blankets and began pawing through them frantically. "Please let it be in here, pleasepleaseplease!!"

"Tha-- ow OW!" Nina curled into a ball to save her feet from Du's clawing hands. "I don't know what you're looking for but my ankle is NOT it!" She rolled over onto her other side and felt something hard dig into her hip bone. She fished around in the blankets and found a piece of jewelry-- the charm was four heart-shaped purple crystals set to form a flower of sorts.
"Is this it?" Nina held the necklace up and rolled up onto her toes, the blankets falling from around her shoulders. "It bit me."

Dubhiarr's head shot up so fast her neck cricked; she rubbed it and winced as her gaze focused on the pendant dangling from Nina's hand. "Ah! That's it! Thank you!" She gratefully took the necklace back and examined it, and her face fel. "Ohh, the chain is broken... I'll have to find a new one..."

Nina stood and moved next to Dubhiarr to look at the chain. "Nah, see? It's just the little ring attaching that side of the clasp to the chain." She pointed out the small twist of metal. "I bet Keme could fix it if you asked him to, no problem."

"I'll do it myself, thanks all the same," Dubhiarr answered, holding the broken clasp up to her eyes. "Ah, I see how that broke..." She began fiddling with the two ends of the clasp, her brow furrowing as she concentrated.

Nina shrugged and watched her attempts.
When Dubhiarr failed the first time, Nina gave her an encouraging pat.
When she failed a second time, Nina crossed her arms and waited for her to do it again.
At the third try Nina took the necklace gently from Dubhiarr, her voice impatient. "Lemme do it, Du." Using her nails as pliers, the little ring was soon curled along its own length, threaded from the clasp to the chain and twisted shut.
With a bright smile Nina handed it back to her. "I gots it."

Dubhiarr grinned as she took the necklace back, tucking her hair out of the way and clasping the fine chain about her neck again; she leaned over and gave Nina a peck on the cheek. "Thanks, sweetie."

"You're welcome," Nina said, giggling. She crouched and started to gather the blankets together, dumping them on her bed, followed by the pillows and, at last, her big stuffed snake. "Where did you get that necklace, anyway?" she asked as she started to reconstruct her fort.

Dubhiarr smiled, helping Nina straighten up the mess. "I wish I knew. It was an anonymous Christmas present last year. I'm guessing whoever it was also gave me the gorgeous purple scarf I got for my birthday that same year--" she nodded to her dresser, where a translucent, purple silk scarf, embroidered with tiny silver stars, sat wrapped around the base of a clear vase, "--and the bouquet of roses that used to be in that vase." There was only one rose there now, a fake one make of green plastic and purple cloth. Tied to it was a note that read, You will be in my heart until the purple rose dies.
"It's funny," Dubhiarr mused, her hand going up to the flower pendant and fingering the cool silver chain. "Not one of those gifts had a name on them to tell me who gave them. I can't even tell whose handwriting is on that note."

Nina nibbled thoughtfully on the nail on her index finger as she examined the note. "That's so sweet!" she cooed. "You have a secret admirer, Du. And he's got nice handwriting." She pointed to the note. The text was neat and sophisticated, but still obviously in a male's form.

Dubhiarr nodded. "Yes he does... I just wish he'd left some kind of a hint to who he is. It's not hard to guess what my favorite color is or anything, so he's not necessarily someone I know well... Hmmm."
