Kassandra had not let go of Rhythan's hand the entire way to the sickbay... and had chattered amiably the entire way as well. Not about anything in particular, but happily and really with intelligence if without purpose. Finally, she pulled her captive into the sickbay and made him sit on a cot. Gesturing for Akane to follow and sit where she liked, Kassandra left them alone.
"Dad! Dad, there's someone who needs your help!" she called, looking in the back rooms where Doctor Stryker was still organizing his medical supplies. Partly because Kassandra had helped bring them inside and mixed them all up on accident.

Rhythan perched where he was bade and crossed his arms, pouting out his lower lip. Igor was sure to keep his precious kitchens in order, but there was no telling what would happen when more students were awake. Had he left the oven on? He didn't remember Bekkoji closing the fridge. Had Devyani eaten enough?
Rhythan, old boy, leave it be. Gah. Oh well. Nothing wrong with a little fun to take his mind off things.
"Oh father! Dear, sweet father! Thou hast one dreary begotten patient vying for healing attentions! Father, where art thou?"

Akane giggled. She set the plate of strudels on the end of the nearest cot and went to sit on the edge of the next one over, pulling her knees to her chest. Kassandra was nice-- Akane liked to listen to her. Rhythan, she decided, was going to take some getting used to, but he was amusing. Kee~!

Aramis chuckled as he was dragged out by his daughter. "I think I would remember if I'd fathered you, Rhythan. This little scamp is about all I can handle."
Getting free of his daughter's tight grip, he came over and immediately found the injured hand. "With all your experience, I'd think you would know better than to mix hot oil and water."
It took but a moment for him to heal the scald, erasing it without a trace. Checking it carefully, he nodded and smiled, "There you are. Good as new. Amme wasn't hurt at all, was she? Ah, of course not. Andra would have dragged her in as well if she had."
Ruffling his daughter's hair, Aramis smiled at Akane. Oh, she was definitely a Gussumaru. Not that he had known Gussu well in school, but there was no mistaking the girl's resemblance to her parents. "Hullo, dear. I suppose my daughter kidnapped you as well?"

Akane gave a little bow of her head and smiled. "No, sir. I came willingly. Someone had to carry the streedels... strawdels?" She glanced at Rhythan, then back at Dr. Stryker. "Strudels. I brought the strudels that Rhythan made."
She pointed out the plate, then got curious. "How long have you been the Healer, Dr. Stryker?"
It took all of her willpower not to say his name with a British accent. She managed, though.

Rhythan turned his newly healed hand over in the light to inspect it. He grinned.
"I couldn't hurt dear Igor if I tried. I'd have half the half the male academy students after me if I did." He struck a wilting pose, then bounded towards the door. "Thank you for the help, Doctor Stryker," Rhythan, apparently, had less willpower than little Akane. He smiled at the two girls, then gave a sweeping bow from the doorway. "I now take my leave-- kitchens, HO!"
He bellowed the last word like a man, but pranced away from the door like a ballerina.

Aramis chuckled at Rhythan's antics. He was used to the jokes about his name. Admittedly, he'd chosen the name when he was eighteen, so it was possible he'd had the same general idea when he'd dubbed himself Stryker. After all, his name WAS Aramis Glorfindel. Maybe I should have changed my middle name when I was at it. Ah well. I'm too lazy now.
"About four years or so," Aramis answered Akane thoughtfully. He took the plate of strudels and moved them out of his daughter's reach, handing her one and offering Akane one. "I had a fair amount of experience when I was attending here myself, however."
"If I ate everything Rhythan made for me, I wouldn't be able to fit through a door, and then I wouldn't be much of a good role model, would I?" he chuckled, taking one himself once his daughter had snatched hers out of his hand. Taking a bite of his, he smiled. Rhythan had remembered. Mm, huckleberry. It was hard to get them on this side of the country.

Akane smiled and shook her head at the offered treat. She had had two of the breakfast rolls, and was full.
"Oh, I don't know about that," she piped. "Eating can be offset by exercise, right?" Several member of her family came to mind. She tapped her fingers on her knee.
"Kassandra, are you a freshman too?"

Kassandra nodded, happily eating her strudel. "Yeah, I am. Dad's always running around. He's hardly ever still, and the only time I see him anything but happy is when I'm in trouble or too many people got hurt at once."
She hopped up on the cot across from Akane, happily nomming her strudel. Her mother had hated huckleberries, but Kassandra generally favored her father in most ways anyway. Except maybe much of her personality. As far as she could tell, her father had ALWAYS been well-behaved. It was almost sickening really, to hear people tell of his time at Dunehelden. Like he was a little angel or something. "I've been around here for a long time, though. Since Dad works here, and Mom doesn't have even partial custody."

"Ah, so you know the castle pretty well, then." Akane tucked her hair behind her ears. "I've visited Dunehelden before, but it was only to see off my siblings. And even then, I never went past the initial foyer." She grinned. There were five of the Gussumaru clan at Dunehelden now. And in three years, the twins would enroll.

Kassandra nodded, "I was sort of raised here. I used to follow my dad around all the time. Didn't I, Dad?"
She grinned winningly at her father, who was already moving away to keep organizing his sickbay and supplies. "He's always like that. Dad is just short of OCD, I swear."

Aramis chuckled, finishing his strudel and washing his hands before returning to what he was doing. "Try not to scare her away with your chatter, dear. And remember that OCD will affect your cleaning habits if you keep it up."
Shaking his head, he slipped back into the back room to fix the chaos his daughter had accidentally created in his sickbay. She was very much her mother's daughter... That relationship had been a definite case of opposites attracting. Shaking his head again to dislodge those thoughts, he just focused on his organisation.

Kassandra made a soft yip and sighed. "I sometimes think it would be better not to be a single child. That way he wouldn't be able to pay as much attention to me," she said, referring to their earlier conversation. "At least when we're here he's got other things to do too. It's nice having a full-time parent sometimes, but it does make it hard to be a free spirit, you know?"
She finished her treat and washed her hands as well, then stopped and looked at them. "And you pick up habits. Like washing your hands CONSTANTLY. When you can't heal, it really dries out your skin."
Kassandra looked over at Akane and grinned. "So... have you been given a good tour yet? One without a teacher that'll be all over-protective and not take you to any of the cool places?"

Akane laughed. "I could never handle being a single child. My parents would crush me with affection." Memories of bear hugs and snapped ribs came to mind. "But there's a limit to the sibling thing. I'm part of a veritable litter." Of course, Akane would have it no other way. She felt at her most secure in the moshpit that was her family.
At the mention of a tour, Akane's grin quirked to one side. "Ah. No, I haven't had a good tour." Her excitement returned then, and she slipped from the cot to stand, bouncing slightly on the balls of her feet. "Oh Kassandra, could you show me around? Please?"

"Well, that was the point of mentioning it," she grinned widely, grabbing Akane's hand to pull her out. "I know all the best hiding places, and the places to avoid. Like the former Headmaster's tower... avoid THAT like the plague."
She poked her head into the back, waving quickly at her father. "Bye, Dad!"

Aramis glanced up as his daughter waved at him, waving back slightly. "Stay out of trouble, Andra! The school year hasn't even started yet!"
He sighed slightly as she disappeared, pulling Akane with her. He should probably be concerned, but honestly, if she managed to get in trouble with just giving a tour, there was very little he would be able to do. Just shrugging slightly, he went back to his organizing.
