Diana "stepped along softly" through the library, toward the reading nooks. She wondered whether Vincent would have remembered the exact nook they had been sitting in -- goodness knew she couldn't remember, vivid though the memory was -- or whether Ellie would be waiting in whichever nook she chose.

Ellie peeked around the corner of one bookshelf and smiled. She stepped lightly up to Diana from behind and tapped the woman on the shoulder before giving her a hug, pushing a note into her open hand.

Diana jumped a little and spun around as someone tapped her on the shoulder and pulled her into a hug; she grinned and relaxed immediately upon seeing that it was Ellie. She smiled and hugged her friend back, pulled away slightly after a few moments to sign a "thank you", and then unfolded the note and read it over.
Seek out the place where what’s broken is mended, The weary find rest, and all anguish is ended. Find there the maiden with harm in her name, And hair that resembles the cause of the same.
Diana grinned to herself. The first two lines were a no-brainer -- they obviously were talking about the infirmary. The next two lines were tougher. A maiden with harm in her name... Diana thought for a while, mentally running through the names of all the female students she knew. No name stood out as sounding particularly harmful, except for one: Vincent's niece, Natalie Burns. Yes, Diana thought, she fit the riddle perfectly. Her hair was indeed the color of burning flames.
Diana smiled and tucked the note into her pocket along with the rest, wondering how many more riddles she would have to solve before she reached whatever goal Vincent was leading her to. How many people were involved in this? It couldn't hurt to ask. I don't suppose you're allowed to tell me how much longer I'm supposed to wander around the school like this, are you?[/color]

Ellie's smile tweaked in a show of mischief-- it was an expression startlingly reminiscent of the doctor's nephew. No one ever said I couldn't, she signed, but I find that the more one has to find out, the more thrill one can glean from the experience.
Ellie chuckled and waved to Diana, mouthing good luck before she left.

Diana smiled and waved back to Ellie as the healer left; she turned and hurried out of the library herself, heading quickly toward the infirmary. Ellie was right -- the mystery of this whole quest was making it more fun. Diana still wondered, though, what the prize at the end of the quest could be. Whatever it was, it must be worth the walk around the school and puzzling over riddles. She looked forward to whatever it might be.
