A plain, quaint little dorm with one bed, one desk, one window, one TV, and one dresser. Lamadre may decorate it with any temporary decorations she chooses.
The bathroom adjoins to room 504.

Alex headed to the university section of the dorms, his heart beating a little faster from anxiety and anticipation. He really didn't know much about Lamadre, and he wanted to. Perhaps more importantly, he was there for a reason- other than social interaction, even.
He checked his cell phone for the time, ensured it was on silent, and then knocked on the door, two quick sharp raps.

Lamadre opened the door, smiling kindly at the young man. "I'm glad you decided to come, Alex." She moved aside away to allow him inside the room. "You can take a seat wherever you like. There are cookies on the desk if you want some." She waved to a tin of pre-made cookies and smiled apologetically. "Store bought, unfortunately, but they're good, considering. There's milk in the mini-fridge, as well."
Lamadre crossed and sat on the edge of her bed, smiling expectantly at him. "So, Alex, before we get started, do you have any questions?"

"Thank you. And thank you for offering to help me." He smiled politely at her and took a seat, making a note to maybe grab a cookie before he left.
"Well," he took a breath. "What exactly does learning to do magic mean? In, I suppose, any sense of the words."

Lamadre chuckled softly. "That's a very philosophical question," she replied evenly. She traced the pattern on her quilt contemplatively.
"I suppose, in the barest sense of it," she explained, "learning to do magic is not much different than learning to walk, or to read, or to do math. It's a process of honing your natural abilities into something usable. Something powerful. In a broader scope, I suppose you could say that learning to do magic is about control: you learn to control the vast well of power within you, and in turn you gain the ability to control everything around you."
As if to illustrate her point, Lamadre waved one hand daintily in the air, and the curtains slid elegantly aside to let in the sunlight.

Alex looked with an expression of mild wonder at the play of light through Lamadre and the curtains, mingling with the sunlight. A bit wafted over to him like smoke on a breeze, and he chuckled.
"That sounds... fascinating. And a little frightening, I guess."

"Fascinating is certainly the word for it," she replied breezily, momentarily distant. "Intoxicating, in a way, as well. The feeling of magic flowing through your veins is something you can only understand once you've experienced, and not one you would be willing to give up once you have felt it."
She smiled sweetly at Alex, looking at him curiously. "You seem to be picking it up rather quickly, as well."

"Uhm," Alex blushed slightly. "I have no idea." He reached out and poked the little ray of light, and it curled around his fingers and dissipated. "I still have a bit of trouble telling what's actually happening and what I can just feel. But... yes. It is rather wonderful," he said softly.
He looked up at Lamadre. "If it's not too personal, how long have you been a mage?"

Lamadre glanced up, pressing her lips together tightly. Her instincts told her rather forcefully to lie -- but then, the boy seemed incredibly genuine, and she could hardly see any harm in telling him just a bit about herself.
"I was fourteen, like yourself," she replied, her smile widening. "I was sent to the Athenaeum almost immediately, since my father had very close ties there. It was very rigorous training."

Alex smiled back. "So I guess you're pretty good at this, then?"
The Athenaeum... how interesting. He wondered what sort of ties, and what sort of training, but the former he had no right to at the moment, and the latter might become partly obvious from paying attention. It could wait until he got to know her better.

Lamadre grinned. "I'd certainly like to think so. I doubt Professor Volkova would have accepted me as his assistant otherwise."
Of course, there were other contributing factors -- such as the professor and the headmistress wanting to keep a close eye on her. But Lamadre certainly would not be where she was if not for her prowess, so strictly speaking, she was being quite honest.
"I suppose this must all be very strange for you, mustn't it?" she mused.

"Professor Volkova seems nice," Alex mused.
"It is, though it's rapidly becoming less strange. I haven't seen anything that's managed to scare me away yet." He tried to consciously reach over and pull the light over; it seemed to flicker slightly, but that might've been the breeze. "Do you know what this is? I mean, this light thing. I keep doing it."

Angel happened to be beneath Lamadre's window at the right time to notice the curtains opening; to be quite honest, he'd been there a while, wondering when she would get back or whether she was already there. She hadn't given him a time, after all.
After a quick climb up the walls, he had peered in the window to see her and what might be the white-haired boy Frog had mentioned. Quietly, slowly, he waited for their attention to waver, then opened the window and slipped inside, behind Lamadre, reclosing the window as he went.
When he was quite satisfied that he hadn't been seen, and the time was right, he leapt up, stole another kiss, and danced away laughing.

Lamadre spun in place, heart hammering in her chest from shock. She clutched at her chest, words half formed before she recognized the intruder. At the sight of the familiar face, whatever she had been about to say died quickly on her lips.
"Oh. Angel," she murmured, her face flushing pleasantly. She smirked, folding her arms across her chest and facing him. "You really shouldn't lurk outside a lady's window like that. She might think you've been spying on her."

Alex leapt up from his chair in fear when Angel showed himself, dashing halfway towards the corner.
He flushed in embarassment when he realized this was someone Lamadre knew and went to sit back down, laughing at himself a little.

Angel found a spot to sit down on the floor and did so, grinning.
"I've been waiting for you. Where do you want to go?"

Lamadre leaned against the wall near Angel, noticing Alex's startled reaction. She had almost forgotten the boy's presence.
"I'm afraid you haven't caught me at the best time," she admitted. "I'm in the middle of a rather dry and uninteresting lecture on magic. This is my protégé, Alex." She gestured to the young man. "Alex, this is Angel. He's...a friend of mine."
She thought for a moment, pressing her finger to her lips. "Of course, a practical lesson in magic might be all the better, if you don't mind Alex joining us on a walk," she suggested.
Part of her very much wanted to be alone with Angel, but her lesson with Alex had barely begun, and she was certainly not the type to abandon her obligations. She could drag the boy along and show him some interesting tricks, and then once he got bored she could spend some time alone with Angel.

"'Dry and uninteresting lecture on magic'? You're crazy." Angel rolled onto his knees and leaned over to offer his hand to Alex. "Nice to meet you. Are you Hitoshi's friend?"
"I wouldn't want to interfere with your obligations," he said seriously. "If you don't mind me accompanying you, all the better."

Lamadre smiled, opening her closet and digging for the only jacket she had here that didn't have the damn school emblem on it. It was getting cooler, and the sun was starting to set.
"You wouldn't be interfering at all," she insisted, glancing sideways at him. "I'm sure I can find a way for you to make yourself useful."
She slipped on the thin jacket and slid the closet door closed.

Alex shook Angel's hand. "Nice to meet you. And- yes, I guess I am." He smiled. "Do you know him?"
He looked between Lamadre and Angel. Bowing out would be the polite thing to do, but he did want to finish the lesson, and neither of them seemed too put out by it. On the other hand...
"I'd be happy to take a walk, but I need to grab my jacket too. Would you mind if we ran by my room?"

"Nah, but a friend of mine's in his cooking class and he mentioned the both of you."
He watched Lamadre and wondered where he could take her... home would be easiest, but maybe someplace more exotic.

Lamadre nodded to Alex. "It shouldn't be a problem. I think your dorm is on the way, anyway."
She smiled at Angel, opening the door. "Ready to go?"

Angel rose to his feet and walked over to Lamadre. "Anytime you are." He winked at her, then looked back at the other boy, who happily followed.
