Bird peered around the corner, crouching low to the floor. The twilight outside seeped through the windows of the darkened corridors between classrooms, usually devoid of students at this hour of the night.
A tiny mouse that had creeped in from somewhere could be barely seen washing its ears next to the wall. He could smell its warmth, almost hear its quick little heartbeat. As small as it was, this would be so much better than that rewarmed bullshit he usually got.
He measured the distance, tensed a moment, and dashed along after it on all fours.
