Akio wasn't much for gym class. The only team sport he had ever really been good at was basketball, and no one ever wanted to play that. Today's activity was dodgeball.
Akio could work with dodgeball. Aim and fire, don't be there for the rebound.
This was his childhood in a school-friendly form.

Eztli was on the opposing team, which suited him fine because it gave him a specific target to aim for. Akio was quick, though.
Suddenly, ball to face. Eztli hit the floor and hopped back up onto his feet. His temper flared and he hit the person closest to him on the shoulder. Well, he had been told that venting was good for him.
The ref blew her whistle and called him out. Eztli walked off the court and took a seat on the bleachers.

Akio turned to watch the blue-haired kid's little outburst, smirking at the ref's call to remove him from the game. This was a perfect opportunity for Akio to have a discussion with Eztli-- which he'd been meaning to do ever since he'd overheard little Akane complaining about having trouble with another student.
Akio would be having none of that. No one was going to pester his little sister and get away with it. When the next ball was thrown, Akio botched his dodge just enough to have the hit glance off his hip. He held up one hand, signaling that contact had been made, and retreated to the penalty bench, which happened to have been designated as the first row on the bleachers. Akio sat down just in front of the lad, brushing one hand through his hair.
"You're uh... You're Eztli, right? Eztli Odol?"

One of Eztli's eyebrows went up. The blonde guy was bigger, and broader in the shoulder, but Eztli wasn't threatened.
"If I wasn't, there would be a problem."

Akio wasn't going to even need to try. Either Eztli knew that the conflict was coming, or he was stupid.
Akio spun around on his seat so that he was facing Eztli. His forearms resting on his knees, he smiled at the blue-haired lad in a way that managed to be equal parts charming and mildly threatening.
"Ah, I don't think you realize-- if you weren't Eztli Odol, then there wouldn't be a problem. As it is, you are. So I have a bone to pick with you." Akio flicked his bangs out of his eyes. "It has to do with my little sister-- as I hear it, she's been having some issues with another student. Another student who just happens to match your description. Am I right in assuming that that student just might be you?"

Eztli smirked. "Oh, little Akane." He laughed. "She's a delicious little thing. So you're one of her brothers?" He leaned forward and sniffed. "Yeah, you smell a bit like her. Not like strawberries, though. That's a shame."
Eztli crossed his arms. "Is that what she calls our time together? Issues? Tsk, tsk. I'll have to talk with her about that. I don't like that at all."

"She's a delicious little thing."
Akio's brows angled in a frown. Oh fuck no. He stood, glaring down at Eztli.
"I swear to whatever deity you may consider your higher power of choice," he hissed, "that if you bother my sister any more, I will personally hunt you down, pour acid down your throat, and set you aflame. I will mutate your genetic codes until you're a quivering blob of biomolecular caviar. Savvy?"

Gym had never exactly been Alyn's favorite class. She was athletic enough, and on the days where they ran aimlessly around the track Alyn found gym almost enjoyable. But sports... Well, Alyn could think of several more useful things she could be doing. Like learning to use her magic more effectively, or studying the physiology of the human body and the components of the brain. Compared to that, dodgeball seemed rather silly.
Still, it was hardly a complete waste. Alyn often used it as practice on her own magic, perfecting her abilities. She could effect the minds of others, but augmenting her abilities of perception was significantly more difficult than triggering pain receptors.
Alyn had been on Akio's team when the blue-haired boy had been called out of the game, and though she had missed precisely what had happened and why he was called out, Akio seemed to take notice.
She was too far back to hear the conversation, but she could see the tension between them. She certainly did not like where this was going.
Alyn made her way across the gym toward the two boys, brushing past several of her teammates and kicking aside one of the foam balls. She stopped a few paces from them, folding her arms over her chest.
"Hey, Akio, is there a problem?"

"Stay away from Akane, or it's a Bunsen burner in your epiglottis," Akio finished, just quietly enough for Alyn not to hear. Then he whirled around, and stepped down from the bleachers to meet Alyn.
"Nope," he said, grinning. "At least--" he shot a quick look at Eztli over his shoulder. It was an expression he reserved for horrendously botched experiments and pre-digested organic compounds found caked onto the bottom of shoes. "--not now, there shouldn't be."

Eztli watched Akio with cold eyes. Akio might have been able to hurt him, but not without Eztli hurting him back. Tell him what to do? Eztli would show him.
Eztli steepled his fingers in front of his face and glared.

"Good," she replied, her voice saturated with false sweetness. She placed a hand on Akio's shoulder, staring past the taller boy. Her dark eyes bored into Etzli's. "Gym can be dangerous. I'd hate to think what the headmaster would do if he thought there was some sort of disturbance in his daughter's class. I'm sure you heard about the previous incident this year, with the Professors Harris?"
Alyn let the threat hang, giving Etzli room to interpret it how he pleased. She didn't hold her father's position over others often, but in this instance, she had a feeling it was warranted. She had no idea what the problem was between Akio and this boy, but she didn't like it.

Akio's eyebrows rose at Alyn's threat. He had... actually not been expecting that. A big goofy grin broke across his features and, placing one hand at Alyn's back, the tall blonde Gussumaru pranced back out onto the dodgeball court.
