Ozora grinned. "Oh, there's a ton. There's one about Kali, who is a form and yet separate of the Goddess Durga. Durga was fighting a horde of evil, but Kali was so enthralled with the blood that she leapt from within Durga's brow to become her own form, and started to slaughter everything in sight. Finally, her husband Shiva threw himself before her to cease the slaughter, and it so surprised her that she stuck out her tongue. And that is why the Dark Mother is shown with her tongue protruding, and covered in blood. Kali is portrayed with black skin, because she is all-embracing. Her breasts are covered in blood, her eyes red, and she wears a garland of skulls. In one of her four hands she holds a sword, another the severed head of a demon, and the last two are held up to assure her followers to fear her not. Because of her... birth, she is shown with one foot on the chest of Shiva, and one on his thigh, because he leapt before her and lay on the ground to stop her."
He looked thoughtful. "I could give more. That one just leapt to mind, but there are some that are less... bloody."

Jason blinked when Ozora came to the end of his tale.
"...Interesting," he said after a pause. "So what are a few of the less bloody ones?"

Ozora looked thoughtful. "Well, there aren't really very many of those, to be honest. But then, it's a little hard to find Greek myths that aren't about murder or rape, so... I mean, there are a few, but not very many."
He sat for a moment, then pulled his legs up to sit in lotus position. On the bench, it wasn't the most comfortable, but it did help him think. "There was a man, Satrajit, who once received a jewel from Surya, the Sun, refused to part with the gem, even when Lord Krishna asked for it, assuring him that it would be safe with him. Prasena, the brother of Satrajit, went hunting while wearing the jewel, and was killed by a lion. Jambavan, a hunter of another story, killed the lion, and brought the gem home and gave it to his son to play with. When Prasena did not return, Satrajit accused Krishna of killing him and taking the jewel for himself.
Krishna, to clear his name, set out in hunt of the gem and found it in the cave of Jambavan. Jambavan fought him, believing him to be an intruder, and they contended for 28 days. Finally, Jambavan, who was physically and mentally exhausted, recognized for Rama, another of his names and forms. In repentance, Jambavan gave Krishna the gem and his daughter Jambavati in marriage. Jambavati traveled with Krishna back to Satrajit, who in turn repented for his false accusation of Krishna. Satrajit promptly offered Krishna his own daughter Satyabhama in marriage, and the jewel. Krishna accepted only Satyabhama, but rejected the jewel."
Ozora took a slow breath and grinned. "And that is why one should not look at the moon on the night of the Ganesh Chaturthi, the date of which I forget, or else he will be falsely accused and the only way to fix the situation is to listen to the entire form of the story I just told."

Jason pondered the story quietly for a little while. The part about false accusation struck a chord in his heart, and he quickly pushed away the memories of what had led up to the horrible things he and Zeph had done to themselves. It wasn't Jonathan's fault, or Zeph's. It had all been a huge misunderstanding.
"So what happened to the jewel, after all that?" he wondered aloud, his mind wandering back to the present.

Ozora shrugged. “It was never in the myths. I don’t think it really mattered. That wasn’t the point of the story, it was just… the catalyst.”
He looked thoughtful. “I bet Satrajit just kept it. I mean, it wasn't really important, after all.”

Jason nodded. "That's logical." Just like Jonathan was the catalyst of some of what had happened in October -- not that it was any of his fault. But Jonathan was important... to Jason, anyway.
Jason watched Ozora for a moment, wondering what time it was. He couldn't judge by the sun, which made it hard to tell. Stupid Fae twilight. And the one day he hadn't thought to wear his watch.
"Would you happen to know the time?" he asked.

Ozora shook his head. "Not dinner time yet, I'm not hungry yet. And trust me, I always know exactly when meal times are."
He grinned, then looked up. "Maybe it's time for you to finish your sketch."

Jason laughed, picking up his pencil and sketchbook again. "My favorite time of day."
He continued sketching, lapsing into silence as he re-immersed himself in his art. Finally his father's face was completed, and he carefully closed the book and set it aside. There was nothing like the satisfaction that followed the completion of a work of art, no matter what kind.
