((If anyone cares... The start of this)) Korlian followed Vincent into the music room, becoming ridiculously excited. It had been a very long time since he'd heard a song about him and while his memory was so vague of the last time as to be nonexistent, he was pretty sure that the last song had not exactly been complimentary.
This one proved to be far better. After all, it was meant to be a reward, even if it was for something rather trivial.

Vincent smiled as he seated himself at the piano, setting up the song lyrics in front of him at eye level. He flexed his fingers to get the blood flowing to them, looking over at Korlian and speaking to him.
"I hope you don't mind, but this song is rather different than what you asked for. I found it exceedingly hard to write about your past life as a full Fae, given that I know less about it than you do. So I wrote a song about the night He-whose-name-we-do-not-speak got what was coming to him," he said with a bit of a grin. "Good thing you chose to have me sing it in here; I wouldn't want the whole school to know the real story."

Korlian's eyes brightened quite a bit, and he grinned widely. "That is even better than what I asked," he said, his voice almost a delighted purr.
"Though... I have to say I have lost a great many of the memories I had... so you and I probably are on parr as to what we know of the real me," his expression was momentarily pensive, but it brightened again. "But that's not what we're here for," he said eagerly, like a child awaiting Christmas.

"No it isn't," Vincent agreed, then cleared his throat and put his hands to the piano keys. He played a few bars of introduction before launching into the song.
"One dark and cold October night The halls of Dunehelden lay In silent peace, except for one Who rose in search of prey.
His yellow eyes shone cold and bright, His thirsty fangs were long and keen: The foulest creature, all were sure, That place had ever seen.
He tasted one young maiden’s blood, And left her lying in the grass; A bold young man soon found her there As through the dark he passed.
At once he raised a cry for aid That echoed all around the yard, And reached at last the hearing of A wandering maskèd bard.
The bard whirled ‘round to heed the call And found he who had found the maid; Both knew that this was one on whom The enemy had preyed.
They took the maiden swift inside, But found that they were not alone: The bard’s young headstrong daughter had Been following unknown.
The bard and his companions came Upon another on their way: A Fae-born child, who joined their band (Much to the bard’s dismay).
Meantime the creature wandered long Through darkened halls for aught to find; And soon the blood he’d stolen wreaked Fell havoc on his mind.
Who knows what fiendish sights he saw, What horrors played before his eyes? He tore his hair and gnashed his teeth: The halls rang with his cries.
He stumbled on a group of three Who roamed the halls that fateful night: He cowered at their feet, and wept And told them of his fright.
The three stood back in horror as The creature showed his ugly face: One dropped to hands and knees, and soon A wolf stood in her place.
The bard came running down that way, His band of comrades all beside: The creature pulled the bard’s young daughter From her father’s side.
The Fae-child stood to face his foe, And boldly cried, “The child is mine. Release her to her father now, Or death will soon be thine.”
The creature held the girl to him And laid his own unholy claim. The bard leapt forth to free her, and The Fae-child did the same.
The Fae-child seized the creature’s throat To squeeze and choke his life away; The bard leapt forth to hinder him And claim the beast as prey.
The creature fell onto his knees, All wrapped about with strangling arms; The bard pulled free his daughter, lest She come to any harm.
The Fae-child moved away from them; The creature gasped and breathed once more. Then struggled hard against the bard And pinned him to the floor.
The watching wolf now saw her chance To end the creature’s evil reign— She leapt and tore his throat from him, And left him lying slain.
The Fae-child claimed the creature’s fangs To prove his conquest in the fight: The rest lies in a shallow grave The bard had dug that night.
So died that predator of old, Who preyed upon us far too long: Now let him lie, while here we stand And praise his death in song."

Korlian clapped his hands with a wide grin, looking almost like a cat that had gotten into the cream. With his oddly shaped eyes, it was a more than apt comparison. Then he pulled up his pipes and began playing the tune. It oddly got a haunted, eerie sound despite having the same notes.

Vincent grinned and stood up, stepping away from the piano bench as he listened to Korlian echoing the song's melody on his panpipes. It sounded even more solemn and haunting when he played it. Vincent couldn't help but smile.
"I'm glad you approve," he chuckled softly.

Korlian grinned at him, putting his pipes away. "Yes, I do. Thank you. I think you put more effort into this than I did. After all... it is not difficult to sneak up to Professor Harrow's door, nor to sit and wait for her to figure out where to find me.
"I finished a Rubix cube while I was waiting for her," he grinned.

"You're very welcome," Vincent smiled. "That song was surprisingly fun to write. I hope you weren't too bored when you were waiting for her. I've been working on a Rubik's cube myself, every now and then when I have a spare moment; it's been a few weeks, and I'm not even close to finishing it," he laughed.
He paused, realizing he'd left the song on the piano, and quickly moved back to pick it up and ut it back in his pocket. It wouldn't do to leave that lying around where just anyone could read it.

Korlian shook his head. "No, the puzzle held my attention well, and I finished it as she came up. It probably didn't take her all that long to find me, but my perception of time is skewed. More than the usual childish way," he grinned.
He put his pipes away, shrugging. "It's a very nice song. It's almost a pity not very many people can hear it. At least, not the full thing."
Shrugging again, he started whistling it. At least that way, the song sounded more normal. Even Korlian couldn't make whistling sound anything but cheerful.

Vincent smiled. "It is a bit of a shame. I can think of only a few people who would really appreciate hearing it in full. Namely, the monster's victims." Especially Miss MacNamara, who had been unconcscious for much of that evening. Poor girl.
He stretched. "Speaking of time... would you happen to know what it is now? My watch has been less than reliable lately. I've been meaning to find a new battery for it, but what with wedding plans and preparing for the field trip on top of classwork and writing your song, it hasn't been a priority," he grinned.

Korlian shook his head. "Nope. Not worried about getting to class, so time doesn't bother me at all. But there's a clock right there."
He grinned impishly and pointed at the clock over the door, then skipped out. "Good luck on your marriage," he called over his shoulder, then started whistling the song Vincent had written again, the sound echoing down the halls as he went.
