Renate was starting to regret the assignment she had given her photography class the week before-- find symmestry at Dunehelden.
There were so many pictures of butterflies that Renate was bored with grading by the third portfolio.
Fuck butterflies.
Then she got to Sterling's file. There were a few odd shots-- symmetry where there was none, implied symmetry, asymmetry made symmetrical.
Now this was what she had been hoping for when she'd made the project.
"Oh mein Gott. Thank you and your lack of butterflies."

Natsu ran into the art room. She knew that her project was late but it was so hard to find something symmetrical that wasn't a butterfly. "Ms. Cundrie . . ." Natsu started to say before she tripped and fell, her pictures for her project covering the floor as they fluttered down from the sky, "Owwwie!"

Renate X3'd and hopped off the desktop (yes, she had been sitting on it) and pulled the girl to her feet before kneeling to start gathering the images-- oh good, no butterflies.
"You okay, madchien?" She asked, straightening the photos she had picked up.

"Y-yes I'm fine," Natsu said blushing a little, "I-I'm sorry that my project is late but everyone was taking pictures of butterflies and . . . and I didn't want to take pictures of just butterflies." She looked of to the side and pursed her lips, "But I DID take a picture of a moth, or at least Dou-chan SAID it was a moth, but I dunno, I think it was too pretty to be a moth . . ."
Natsu stiffened and realized she was rambling. "Ummm so sorry, but will you still accept my project?" she asked looking up at her teacher with her large periwinkle eyes.

Renate smirked. " 'Course," she said, setting the file down on her desk. "I'm too lazy to calculate what points to dock for late turn-ins, anyway. You're fine."
She looked at the stack of other projects, Sterling's on top, then glared at the stack as if it had just called her fat.
"As a matter of fact, I'm too lazy to grade much else today. I think those can wait until tomorrow. I'll grade them during classes or something. I'll hook my PS2 up to the projector and we'll watch Dragon Ball Z."

Himmel peered around the door again, this time almost all the students were gone. Himmel didn't like students that much, they kept asking obnoxious questions like 'when am I going to get my grades?' or 'when are you actually going to show up for class?' or 'If I stop asking about class will you stop throwing empty pocky boxes at me?!'
Himmel rounded the corner and walked into the class, casually punching one of the students in the stomach and grabbing their portfolio as the fell. He made it up to Renata's desk and threw down the assignment. "I came to turn in my assignment and ask you if you want to play Tekken tonight? There'll be ramen and pocky involved."

Renate arched one eyebrow, leaning against the desk to flip open the folder.
"Himmel, I've seen this project before." Butterflies. Fucking butterflies. Fuck butterflies. "I graded it five minutes ago."
She crossed her arms and smirked through her bangs at him. "Tekken, you say? Sounds rad--" she pointed her index finger at his nose. "But only if I get to be the panda. I demand exclusive panda usage." She thought for a second. "...And what flavors of pocky and ramen are we speaking of?"

Himmel grinned "All the flavors of the rainbow." He said leaning against her desk. He looked down at the portfolio and threw it off the table casually. "So, you actually teach huh? What's it like? I've been thinking about giving it a shot one day, but God I HATE art students so much."
He glared at a passing student in the hallway and then turned back to Renata. "So, when are you done teaching the special snowflakes? Cause I personally think video games are more important than the 'future of our youth'."

Natsu pouted at the man. She had no clue who he was but . . . How could Ms. Renate hang out with someone as mean as that. Natsu sniffled, she was an art student and therefore hated . . . she had never been hated before. Her eyes widened and began to glisten with small tears.
"I-I'm gonna go," she managed to squeak out, her voice tight from trying not to cry, "B-bye!" Natsu turned on her heel and dashed out of the art room.

Renate hee'd at the "flavors of the rainbow" comment (ohmeingott BANANA pocky? Did he have banana pocky? Because Renate would kill for some banana pocky.)
At Natsu's exit Renate puffed out her lower lip for a second. Aw, that was sad.
But seriously. Video games and pocky.
She turned to face Himmel and crossed her arms. "Technically, I'm off now. But I should at least pretend to tidy up the classroom a bit. Also, I have Ramune stashed in the fridge in my office." Cotton Candy flavored. Yes.

Himmel rolled his eyes "Please, cleaning is for dorks, you should check out my classroom. Half their grade involves finding their desks." He picked up a few student photographs and looked at them with a raised eyebrow. "God these suck,Vero does better drunk." He shook his head and casually threw them behind him. "So virtual asskicking bonding time?"

Renate quirked her mouth to one side. "You give out grades? You surprise me, Himmel."
"Bah, some of them are pretty good. You're looking at Foto-one stuff." She hopped onto the desk and stood on the edge of it to reach up and unplug some of the cords from the back of the tv that was set up on the upper corner of the wall. These cords dropped, and Renate did as well, landing solidly on her feet to bend and wrap the cords around her forearm, eventually reaching the device to which they had been connected-- a Dreamcast system. She may or may not have been playing Ecco the Dolphin during her ceramics class. She had no desire to watch Jaebi Lyckander be flirted at by the girls that shared his table during classes while he tried his damnedest to make a dragon out of clay. A dragon with eight legs. Which had been pretty cool, actually. Doing the scales was going to be a bitch for him, though.
Anyway. Video games. Yes.
Renate looked around the room. Well, it wasn't too horrible-looking. There were a few papers here and there, and a bit of clay stuck to one of the tables at the back, but that could wait. She had AP-Foto in the mornings anyway, and they hardly ever actually spent time in the room itself.
"Yes. Virtual asskicking bonding time. I like."
