Dubhiarr wandered up and down the hallways, wondering where she might find Professor Breannan. The words of the fortune-teller she'd met in Thessaloniki had been nagging at her all week, and although they'd been driven from her mind by her breakup with Stephen, they'd eventually returned to nag at her again.
She heard footsteps and the tapping of a cane behind her, turning around and seeing the very man she'd been looking for. She grinned to herself, pausing where she stood and letting the man catch up to her before she spoke to him.
"Hello, Professor. This might sound odd, but may I speak with you for a while? I won't keep you if you're busy. I just want to ask you something."

Aodh smiled at the sound of the soft alto voice that spoke to him, recognizing it as that of one of his students.
"Aye, I have time to spare. What do you need? Are you having trouble with the class at all?"

Dubhiarr smiled and shook her head, then remembered that the man was blind. "No, I'm handling the class material pretty well. My question is more of a... personal thing. What do you know about a man named Ailde MacNamara?"

Aodh's eyebrows lifted at the sound of the name; it rang a bell in his head, loud and clear.
"I met him once," he answered, "back in 2008. I was walking on his property and accidentally damaged a tree that housed a colony of bats, causing them to fly off. He came after me and put a curse on me before I had the chance to apologize properly, then banished me from his land. Quite a temper that man had. Why do you ask?"

Dubhiarr's eyebrows shot up as well. Professor Breannan had been cursed by her uncle? That was definitely interesting, but it made quite a lot of sense. Suddenly the meaning of the fortune-teller's words became clear to her.
"He's my uncle," she explained out loud. "You're right, he always has had a nasty temper. The reason I asked is because I met a fortune-teller in Greece who told me I had a task of some kind to do that involved him and you. I'm pretty sure she meant for me to help you be rid of your curse. Do you have any idea how to do that?"

Aodh nodded. "Aye, I do. Michael figured it out for me. I need to find the bats whose home I destroyed, apologize to them and build them a new home, better than the one before. After that I could go back to your uncle, but Michael said it wouldn't be necessary. The soonest I'd be able to do all of that would be this summer, when I'm back home in Scotland."

Dubhiarr smiled. "I figured you were from Scotland. I am too."
Her eyes brightened. "I could easily help you with what you need to do to break your curse. I could talk to my uncle and see if he knows where the bats went, and help you build a new home for them. Does it need to be in the same place as before? I might be able to persuade my uncle to let you back on his land for a short time, if necessary."

Aodh smiled. "I'm not sure; if getting onto your uncle's land is going to be a problem, it's probably safer to re-home the bats elsewhere. I've been meaning to see Ellie about getting my eyesight restored, so I'll be able to do more for myself. Thank you very much for your help."

"You're welcome," Dubhiarr smiled. "I hope Ellie can give you your sight back. I'll talk to my uncle as soon as I can, to find out more about your curse and how to break it. He'll probably listen to me."
