The smithy was renovated from one of the dungeons-- it was about twice the size of a regular classroom, and the tools hung neatly along the walls were clean and organized by their use in the forging process. There were a few blades left out, possibly cast off from some halfhearted project.
As far as Himeko knew, there was only ever one other person who actively used the forge. She wasn't sure whether the tools on the walls belonged to that person or not, but she didn't quite know where to find them so she could ask.
Oh well. Himeko searched through until she found a few scraps and twined them through her fingers, using her magic to stretch them into strings. These, she twisted into a sort of layered corkscrew, then molded into a thick, twisted needle.
A skeleton key. Himeko smirked and looped the end into a crafty little decorative hook so she could use the key as a charm on a necklace. She would never be locked out of her room again.

Carmen sighed as he shifted the weight of the backpack he was carrying. The problem was it was too light, he was running out of metal, he probably didn't even have enough to finish this project.
He walked through the curtain into the forge dramatically using both arms to part the cloth. Walking past the girl playing with her necklace and up to the forge. He slid his backpack off and begin to methodically empty it. Metal on the ground and concept sketches on the wall slightly off from the hearth.
He blew a strand of silver hair from his face and made sure his bandanna was secure. He took one last look at his sketches and made a face. "Hey," he said not turning around "Don't just stand there, fill the slack bucket up with water. There's a pump over there in the corner."

Himeko's eyebrows lifted but she did as she was told, filling the bucket and hefting it easily with one arm.
"Where d'you want me to put it, mate?"

Carmen stretched as he turned around. "Over by the anvil there." Moving over to a large closed basin by the hearth, he pulled some heavy gloves down from a hook above it and put them. on.
He turned around for just a second and smiled before picking up a small blackened shovel and opening the basin. Plunging the shovel into the charcoal Carmen began to fill the hearth. "Come help with the bellows, I'll be lighting the hearth in a moment."

Himeko moved to stand by the top handle and flicked her hair out of her eyes. "Tell me when it's lit."
She didn't know who this person was, but she was willing to bet he was the other craft mage she had heard about.
"Those extra blades. Are they yours?"
