Bolin Honghui paced before the large desk in the office. Toe to heel, toe to heel, one side of the room and back again. He needed to move-- space; space was what he needed. This room was--
No. Bolin took a breath and composed himself. He was here for a meeting. Giving the impression that he was a wild animal would not help his cause. Another breath, and the man was able to settle his tall, muscular frame into the chair set before the desktop. He leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees, and over steepled fingers began to trace the grain of the wood with his eyes.
He was early. He could wait for Veronique. The only thing hurrying his conscience was the condition of a very certain former student of the Athenaeum, on whom the harsh werewolf-centered training had taken a sore psychiatric toll.
He knew all too well what hell this particular young woman had gone through. He was determined to undo it-- he had been able to begin his task back at the other school, but the student's transfer here, to Dunehelden, had posed an interruption.
Of course, it had been a necessary one. The student would not have lasted much longer in an environment that was corroding her-- Bolin had seen to it personally that she be taken out of that environment.
Now, it was time to continue what he had started.

Veronique stumbled blearily into her office from the back door, only numbly aware of her surrounds. She dropped her bag onto her desk and turned to the steaming, whistling coffee pot, pouring a cup and raising it to her lips without acknowledging or indeed noticing the young man sitting in front of her desk.
Veronique drained the cup quickly, then poured another cup for herself. Mechanically she pulled a stack of paper toward her and picked up a pen, beginning to fill out something, then taking another sip of her coffee.
After a moment, Veronique did a double-take at Bolin. "Who the hell are you and why are you in my office?" she snapped.

Bolin's eyebrows rose, torn between amusement and mild shock. "Bolin Honghui," he introduced himself. "We have spoken over the phone several times, starting with the filing of Kazari Baratoge's transfer to this school."
After a moment in which he gave Veronique time to remember, he continued, "Our last conversation involved my own transfer here-- serving the purposes of both Professor for the general student body and mentor to Miss Baratoge." A sudden memory hit him. "And....I do believe you mentioned one other student here who shared my and Miss Baratoge's.... condition..."

"Who? You're what?" she grumbled, then seeming to come to her senses, she cleared her throat. "Ah, of course." She took a long tug from her coffee mug, draining it and refilling it again. "You weren't due here for another--" Veronique glanced at the clock "--twenty minutes. I asked you to be punctual. Punctual is fifteen minutes from now."
She smoothed back her hair, letting the coffee mug warm her hands. "We are here to finalize your transfer and speak more on the matter of you filling our empty professor slot, yes? Unfortunately, our last professor of psychology had a nervous breakdown halfway through the semester and had to leave the class to another professor for the remainder of the term." She raised an eyebrow at Bolin. "The man was a psychiatrist who had worked for ten years in a mental institution dealing with schizophrenics, and he cracked after three months. Are you sure you're up to the task?" Veronique grinned wickedly.

Bolin half-smiled. He could blame his nerves for his early arrival. "With all due respect, Headmistress Poulain," he told her, "I've been teaching at the Athenaeum. I'm sure that, regardless of the terrorist talents of the student body, I can handle what's thrown at me."

She snorted. "Yes, well, that just means ours will be subtler about it, doesn't it? Judge when you see, Mr. Honghui." She smirked.
Rather unceremoniously she thrust a stack of papers into his arms. "This is your class schedule, your room number -- your key is in the envolope -- and some information on your health insurance plan. Which, incidentally...anything that cannot be taken care of by someone on staff at the school is outside the scope of your health insurance. I hope that isn't a problem. You may choose to have it include dental, visual, psychiatric, vampire attacks, and magic-induced-mental trauma." She tapped the stack of papers. "I would take those last few, if I were you. They tend to come in handy. We don't provide coverage in the event of ghosts, zombies, liches, faeries, or ice cream trucks, so watch out for those."

Bolin flipped through the papers, scanning the forms. At Veronique's last few words, his eyebrows shot up again. Ice cream trucks? No matter; he was sure he would learn about it in time. Returning to the top of the stack, he glanced over his schedule. Oh good-- the last period of the day was open. He would be utilizing that. "Thank you for the warning," he said, feeling a grin tugging at the corners of his mouth. He fought it back, taking half a moment to compose himself. "Is there... anything else I need to fill out or be informed of before I start?"

"Hm. No, I think we managed the rest of the paperwork over the phone, so this should be most of it. You can find your class roll on the Teacher Portal. Unfortunately, the only free rooms left for classrooms are down in the dungeons. I hope you don't mind?" She smirked. "They're drafty in the winter, stuffy in the summer, leaky, and strange things lurk down there...but I'm certain that won't be a problem for you, now will it?" Her eyes danced.
"Beyond that...there's a map to the school in that folder, and you can hopefully find your way around with it."

Bolin met the Headmistress' passive aggression with a calm smile.
"I'm sure that won't be any problem," he insisted coolly. "Neither strange environments nor strange creatures have ever had much of an effect on me." And woman is indeed a strange creature. He glanced once at the door and scooted his chair back, giving Veronique a gentlemanly bow as he stood. "I thank you for your cooperation," he told her.

Veronique smiled almost amiably. Well, at the very least he seemed like he was level -- or desperate -- enough to endure Dunehelden. Though she couldn't help but feel somewhat paranoid after the-disaster-that-was-Conall, Bolin seemed infinitely more trustworthy and quite genuine in his desire to be rid of the Athenaeum. It was well enough, then.
"Should you need anything, feel free to approach me," she replied blandly. "Or any of the other professors. I'm sure they would love to assist you."
