[red]At the center of colosseum-like room, the Headmaster and the Assistant Principals as well as the University Dean stood. Around the lower rows, the teachers sat, chatting idly.
And slowly, the students began to file in, taking their seats, the University students on one side of the hall and the Academy students on the other.[/red]

Thrall had been between running errands for Veronique and cleaning shit for his uncle all morning. He filed in, grumpy and smelling slightly of bleach, and looked around for his brother.

[purple]Rudeth sauntered in slightly later, glancing around the mostly empty arena for his brother. Spotting him, he shimmied toward him and plops down beside him.
Rudeth wasn't exactly the most fond of these events, but they did have the potential for some wonderful social interaction.[/purple]

Thrall looked up and raised an eyebrow. "You look like you're in a good mood. Finally get a girl to kiss you?"
He really wasn't feeling like his usual taunts right now, but it was his brother. If he could make a special effort for anyone, it would be Rudeth.

[purple]Rudeth laughed. "Good to see you, too, Thrall," he responded, glancing around. "Just...kind of excited. You know, it's senior year, we're on the top, and we've essentially graduated. I mean, we're both only an English credit and a history credit short of qualifying for graduation."
Rudy grinned. "And the new year means a new wave of new students, which means lovely new faces to look at!"[/purple]

Thrall snorted. "I guess that's something. I can't wait to get the fuck out of here..."
It hit him, then, in a way it hadn't before: if all went According To Plan, he wouldn't be here this time next year. Meaning that he would be away from his family for the first significant period since they tried summer camp in elementary school, and away from his brother for...
Thrall twinged and decided to change the subject. "So are you still going to do that Club thing?"

[purple]Rudeth, rather oblivious to Thrall's internal struggle, grinned. "Of course!" he piped up. "This club is going to be awesome."
Rudeth, of course, was planning to continue on at Dunehelden University, and even when Thrall insisted that he was getting the hell out, Rudeth was still fairly certain that Thrall would end up staying at Dunehelden regardless.[/purple]

"Didn't Hitoshi say he'd picked up another guy? I wonder if it was that white-haired kid," he grinned.
"Have you found anyone yet?"

[purple]Rudeth thought for a moment. "Yeah, that's right...If it was Alex...We might need to be careful to keep Hitoshi from blowing up at anyone," he mused. "But I haven't been able to find anyone esle, so right now, it's you and me, Hitoshi, Alex, Carmen, and Professor Himmel."
Rudeth glanced back at Thrall. "And if Alex does join, don't do anything to purposefully agitate Hitoshi, alright? Tone it down. A little drama is good for business, but only if it has a warm fuzzy ending."[/purple]

Smoke sat between Himmel and Veronique, wearing a nice brown uniform-ish suit that simultaneously looked very nice and formal and made his hair stand out even more prominently than usual. He leaned with one elbow on the table and smiled; this year was going to be fun.
A rather large eagle had recently decided to perch on the back of his chair, and he made no move to dismiss it.

"I'll try not to provoke him so much he starts breaking things again, but he really needs to grow the hell up," Thrall snorted. "He can't go around threatening people just because they flirt with somebody he likes."
Carmen's face flashed through his mind. "I mean, I don't do that. Standards I bother to follow should be, like, human minimum, right?"

[purple]Rudeth narrowed his eyes at Thrall, raising an eyebrow. Thrall as any sort of a standard? Yeah, right.
"You also flirt with just about everyone, so it's not really a strange thing for you," he reminded him. "This is the first time Hitoshi's really shown any interest in someone. Cut him a little slack, will you? Besides, I know you're not actually interested in Alex, and Alex isn't interested in you, so it doesn't do you any good to make passes at him."[/purple]

"How do you know I'm not interested?" Thrall smirked.

[purple]Rudeth rolled his eyes. "Sadly enough, I've seen you enough to know what your type is," he replied. "He's a bit too -- well -- effeminate for your normal tastes. So unless you're really just unbelievably desperate right now, I don't think you really care that much."[/purple]

Heh. Right on the mark, actually...
"Thanks for not presuming I'm desperate, then."
He started feeling a little better.

Hitoshi entered the arena, scouring the crowd. Normally he would attempt to stay as far away from his family as possible, but given that he would end up sitting incredibly close to strangers -- and probably equally obnoxious ones -- he might as well deal with Thrall and Rudeth.
He squeezed past a throng of people, taking the seat behind Rudeth and directing Alex to the one that was NOT behind Thrall -- he'd save that one for Hitomi. In this manner, he could keep Thrall and Alex as far away from each other as possible while still staying near his typical group.

Alex smiled at the both of them- well, mostly at Rudy, but at both of them- and waved.
"So what's this going to be like?"

[purple]Rudeth smiled, waving back. "Hey!"
"Well," he responded, "it's pretty boring. The Headmaster gives some little speech memorized from rote, Smoke and Himmel usually do something somewhat interesting, our dad lights some magic torch, we cheer a lot, some other boring stuff happens...that sort of thing. But if you're discreet, you can socialize just about the whole time."[/purple]

"Sounds fun," he smiled. "I'm looking forward to meeting people; I seem to have had good luck so far."
He looked up at the teachers' tables. "I've met Professor Smoke and the Headmaster; which ones are the other two you mentioned, if you don't mind?"

Hitoshi pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "Himmel is the blond vampire on Veronique's right," he responded quickly. "Yaodensi, Rudeth and Thrall's father, is the tall dark-haired man."
He glanced at Alex out of the corner of his eye. "You likely won't have any classes with either, unless you take art classes with Professor Himmel," he replied.

Alex nodded. "I don't know what I would do with art, so I suppose not."
"Have you two been having fun? What are you taking?"

Thrall twisted around and looked back at Alex- glanced at Hitoshi- turned back around.
"Senior English, World History, some creative writing bullshit that might be interesting... and more learning how to beat the living hell out of things," he said plainly. "Though I heard Dad threatening to drag us into basic magical stuff if we don't hurry up and explode something ourselves."

[purple]Rudeth smiled. "Honors Senior English, Creative Writing, Advanced Communications, year long Advanced Fencing, World Politics, Trigonometry, and Anatomy/Physiology," he replied. "I know I'm in World Politics with Hitoshi. What about you, Alex?"[/purple]

"I'll see you there, then." Alex glanced back at Thrall, wondering what precisely that was about.
"Other than that, mostly first-year requirements. I think they put me in Honors Algebra for some reason, though." He stuck out his tongue. "That's going to be something."

"Well, if you need any help, just let me know," Hitoshi responded. "I'm quite good at math."
He glanced around at the crowd filing in, watching for anyone of consequence.
