When everyone in the school was attending some dumb play, there was nothing for Jonathan Harris to do. And when there was nothing for Jonathan Harris to do, he got bored very, very quickly. And when Jonathan Harris got bored, he went out and caused all sorts of criminal mischief. Which is what he was doing in the infirmary at that exact moment.
"Fucking... stupid..." He grumbled to himself as he fiddled with the lock on the storage cabinets in the infirmary. After a few more moments of messing with the crude lockpick he had fashioned from a paperclip, Jonathan finally heard a very satisfying click. He yanked the lock off to the doors and pulled them open. Before him, medical supplies gleamed and glistened.
"What to take?" Jonathan mused to himself, rummaging through the contents of the cabinet. "Rubbing alchohol... painkillers... I wonder if they have morphine in here? Or Vicodin?" He shuffled things around a bit. "No. Damn. There's real money in that shit." He grabbed a few bottles of painkillers and tossed them idly at his feet, where they rolled around for a bit. Jonathan didn't care, though. He didn't want anything specific - he just wanted to steal stuff.
He wasn't worried about being caught - after all, the entire school was down watching the stupid play. Who was going to walk in on Jonathan, anyway? Besides, he had good ears... he would know if someone was coming. Maybe. There was still that margin for error...

Bolin's involvement in the theater was strictly limited to a casual disinterest. Instead, he had spent his time preparing lessons, both for his regular classes and for the two were-students he had called to charge.
A few bad paper cuts later and Bolin found it necessary to stop by the sick bay. So many bloodstains in the margins of his papers were going to annoy him later, and he knew Ellie had prepared a salve that hindered blood flow in cases that needed no stitching. Such a clever woman, he thought to himself, as he traveled silently down the corridors. As he approached the sickbay doors, however, he heard noises within. Knowing that the Healer was attending the play, Bolin crouched and took on his hulking feline form. He nudged into the bay and stood there, watching the foolish intruder with dark eyes.
Just what did this person think they were doing? Bolin let a low growl roll from his chest, his ears swiveling back against his broad skull.

Jonathan whirled around, dropping the bottle of clear liquid that he had been examining. He was fully expecting to see a teacher, or the janitor, or another inquisitive student. What he was not expecting to see was a tiger, and a massive one at that, baring its' fangs at him. His feet slipped back from under him and he slammed into the supply cabinets. Several things behind him broke.
"Holy SHIT!" Jonathan howled. "Holy MOTHER OF GOD! What the fuck are you?"
Giant fucking TIGER. After what Jonathan had discovered during his self-imposed exile from the school at large, his nerves were nowhere near recovered enough to deal with a giant fucking tiger. What was this school going to throw at him next Psychotic children? Those were always creepy as hell...

Bolin padded forward, circling Jonathan and nudging his shoulder with his nose. He personally didn't care much for doling out punishments. If this kid would set down whatever he was trying to steal, he could just leave. What the hell did he think he was going to do with stolen medicine, anyway? No one in the school was stupid enough to try to take medical supplies. No one except for this lad, it seemed.

Once the shock of seeing a giant tiger had passed, Jonathan regarded the... werewolf? were-kitty?... with a look of annoyance. "Oh." He said in his most smartass voice. "You want me to be a good boy and put everything back."
He turned and surveyed the mess before him. "You know, honestly, this is your fault. If you hadn't decided sneak up on me as a furry, this would be a lot cleaner." He casually kicked a medicine bottle in the tiger's direction. It rolled across the floor before coming to a stop just in front of the tiger's paw. "You know what I think?" Jonathan said lazily. "I think you should clean this up. You caused the mess, after all. I had everything nice and orderly, and you decided it would be fun to go all furry on my ass."

If tigers had eyebrows, Bolin would have raised his. This was a level of jackassery he had dealt with before, though that was back when he was in highschool himself. Of course, the terms with which he had dealt with the situation back then were different than what he may or may not be allowed to use now...
Oh, to hell with it. Bolin was bored with this mongrel already. He wasn't even annoying enough to be amusing-- just a kid with no personal thought for doing something with himself. And who was stealing from Ellie. And was just asking for it...
But no, he was a teacher. He should be guiding this boy to a better path.
Better path, my furry striped ass, Bolin thought to himself, pushing the fool over with a easy swat of his sinewy paw and pushing him down to the floor, pressing against the boy's stomach with that same paw. He lowered his jaws until they were centimeters above the boy's face, snapping them in front of his eyes in a fanged grin. He added pressure to the paw holding the boy down and pushed him so that he slid across the floor, his head bumping against the wall with a little more force than Bolin had intended. As it were, he didn't care much. He let his claws scrape the boy's skin before he padded lazily away and out the door.
Let someone else find him.

Some time later - Jonathan didn't know how long - his eyes opened. The first thing he was aware of was the fact that he was lying in the sick bay, up against the wall. Bloody hell, how had he ended up knocked out? His head hurt, and he was bleeding - not too badly, but still bleeding - from some slight puncture wounds. He couldn't remember anything past turning around from the medicine cabinet. Something had startled him, he had turned, and then... nothing. Dammit.
Jonathan attempted to sit up, but his chest hurt, so it took a few gos. He hadn't been in this much pain since his fight with Carmen. Jonathan prided himself on having a high tolerance for pain. What the hell had sat on him that could make him hurt like this? After a few goes, Jonathan lifted himself to his feet and moved slowly around the sick bay.
After a few minutes, the pain in his chest had quieted down to a dull ache, and Jonathan was free to do stuff again. His eyes caught sight of the medical supplies that had fallen on the floor. Oh, well. It's not like anyone was going to find him. Everyone was at the play. Jonathan walked over and gathered up a few of the medicine bottles, making sure they were filled with liquid. Then he positioned himself on the far end of the sick bay, facing the open supply cabinet. He took careful aim, and then hurled one of the bottles at a jar of cotton balls. It missed and hit the back of the cabinet. Red liquid splattered on the white paint.
"Damn." Jonathan said with a serious face. Then he burst out laughing and hurled another bottle. This one hit the jar, sending it spinning and eventually falling off the edge. It shattered on the tile and cotton balls went everywhere.
Jonathan roared with laughter. This was too much fun.

The sound of shattering glass caught Korlian's attention as he passed the sickbay. Catching his brother's arm lightly, he grinned and pointed. The aura of the person in the room told him exactly who it was. He moved toward the door and opened it, standing in the doorway and taking in what was going on.
He chuckled, a dark chilling sound that echoed through the room. "Well well, look at what we have here. A young child with less sense than a newborn deer. What shall we do with it, brother dear?"

Jonathan whirled to face the new arrival... arrivals, possibly... letting the bottles fall from his hands as he turned. "Who the hell are-" was as far as he got before he managed to turn enough to see the figure in the door.
In that instant, it seemed as if Jonathan's blood turned into ice. Time seemed to slow down all around Jonathan as he stared at the figure in the door. Terror welled up inside him, and for half a second, he honestly felt as thought he was frightened enough to die.
When the bottles hit the floor, Jonathan's body snapped into reaction mode. He took a step back, and then tripped. As soon as he had hit the floor, he crawled backwards, flattening himself against the nearest wall. He attempted to make his body dissolve through the wall, hoping to escape this elegant figure and his terrible gray eyes. No such luck.
"What..." Jonathan half-whispered, just loud enough that the figure in the doorway could hear. "...what..." All bravado was gone, replaced by the icy claw of pure fear. "...what the hell are you?"

Korlian's lip curled into a cruel smile as he walked forward, toward the terrified body against the wall. "The question you should be asking is... what are you." he purred. "I am Korlian, son of Finvarra Summer king of Eíre. You are Jonathan Harris. Jonathan, Gift of God. Hebrew. An interesting name for a creature such as yourself. The pain you've caused would lead one to believe you were a curse from God."
He leaned over Jonathan's prone form, smirking a little. "Now now... what has you so scared?" He chuckled, looking down at Jonathan while hanging over him. His wavy hair fell about his face and shoulders, his grey eyes looking unblinkingly at the boy cowering in front of him.

It wasn't normal for Jonathan to simply take insults. In fact, it was completely unheard of. To call him a "curse from God" in any normal situation was to invite an ass-kicking, or at the very least a long string of comments about the original speaker's mother. There were very few reasons why Jonathan would act out of character. One was a boy he had befriended. One was a scrap of paper in his pocket.
The important one at the moment, however, was the very scary thing now towering over Jonathan.
He hid his face under his arms. "Don't hurt me!" He howled, shivering. "It's not my fault, please! They all deserved it, especially Ian! Please!"

Korlian's eyes narrowed, growing as hard as the sea-ice that shared their color. "Ian, hm...? And Zephyros? How about the healer-boy you've driven to mental breakdown? Did he deserve it?"
Not that Korlian really cared about any of them. Ian however, was a friend, and one who had not reacted in fear upon learning what Korlian was. One hand holding himself up against the wall, Korlian leaned closer to Jonathan, grinning wider as his slightly sharp eye-teeth flashed. The boy's fear was delightful... it had been so long since he'd evoked that reaction.

Jonathan squirmed. He felt as if his heart was in his throat. Bile rose. This thing, this creature that thought it could pronounce judgment on Jonathan... it didn't understand. It would never understand. Nothing would understand.
"Zephyros and Aramis... weren't directly me..." He protested. Then, before the creature could respond, he jerked violently and started to scoot along the wall. "But Ian deserved it. Ian deserved it all. He willed me to live against my own wishes. You can't understand what that's like. I'm an illusion - I shouldn't even be real! Ian's the monster, not me!"

Korlian's smile grew, turning into a feral smile that did not bode well for the terrified boy. His other hand moved to the other side of Jonathan's head, trapping him. He leaned in even closer. "You are right about one thing...
"Ian did not will you to live. He created an illusion, and somehow through no power of his, you came into being."
He leaned closer, whispering almost seductively into Jonathan's ear. "But that's not the whole story. And you and I both know it. The thing is... you have the second half all wrong. It's like a mystery. You have the villain all pegged out... and it turns out your villain is just another victim."

"No..." Jonathan went limp. He could no longer feel his arms and legs, and he still felt as if he was going to puke. "...there's no other explanation. There's no other reason..."
It was as if Jonathan had given up trying to get away. This thing, whatever it was, was just going to catch him anyway. And it clearly didn't want to kill him. Otherwise Jonathan would be dead. No... this creature was doing something else, something Jonathan couldn't figure out. He stared at the creature intently, trying to figure out what it was doing. "If Ian isn't the villain..." He said hesitantly. "...then who is?"

Korlian smiled more, leaning closer to Jonathan and watching the child fall limp with a smirk.
"What else do you hate, as much as Ian?" he asked softly. He blew lightly on Jonathan's ear, watching him carefully. There was no way he was going to tell this boy what he knew. No, he was going to see if it was intelligent enough to figure it out on its own. And have fun with it. How could he not? Such an interesting little toy.

A chill shot through Jonathan's veins. He stared up at the creature before him. The more time passed, the more convinced he became that this thing was not going to kill. In fact, it seemed more like it wanted to screw with his mind, which was perfectly fine with Jonathan. As long as this thing wasn't going to kill him, there wasn't much more it could do.
"Nothing." He said simply. Fear was gradually turning to anger - who did this thing think it was? "Except magic. I despise magic. Though only slightly less than Ian, who, by the way, is a total prick."

"Mmhmm, so you tell me," Korlian smiled coolly. Damn, it was growing apparent that Jonathan wasn't going to figure it out. It was much more fun playing with creatures intelligent enough to not only realize they were being played with, but to follow the breadcrumbs.
"Tell me this... what do you know of the forest outside this castle?"

Jonathan had heard stories, of course. Everyone had. But they all said the same thing, which Jonathan repeated for the thing in front of him. "That we should never go inside it for any reason. That there is some scary stuff in there." He twisted his head to one side and stared up at the thing in front of him.
"Why? Are you saying that the forest and magic have something to do with me?" He stared intently at the thing, though refusing to meet it's gray eyes.

"You're right, there are some scary things in that forest... and right in front of you..." he laughed, looking at Jonathan with a dark glee. "You said it yourself. You are an illusion... but what kind?"
So, maybe it could figure it out. Maybe maybe... He chuckled softly, blowing on Jonathan's ear again, almost kneeling to look closer at Jonathan. It was attractive... considering what it was. "The only thing Ian had to do with your creation is the form you took."

The breeze on Jonathan's ear sent shivers up his spine, but they were not shivers of fear. He allowed the barest hint of a smirk to show on the corners of his mouth before it was back to being emotionless. "I don't even know who or what you are." He said, wanting to shift away and yet shift closer at the same time. "Why don't you tell me? Maybe I can follow what you're saying a bit better..."

Korlian's head tilted to the side, his smile growing feral in a whole different way, his canines flashing. "They really haven't told the students anything. Tell me, what do you know about what made the Celts afraid of the dark?"
He laughed, the sound still chilling. "Of how they explained things like Down Syndrome, and autism, and Infant Death Syndrome? The chills you get at night when you hear something down the hall? The seasons, and anything else you would know explained by science?"

Lhachlhass had gotten bored with all this talking. The thing was obviously not getting it and why did it matter. From directly behind Jonathan he chuckled, his cold breath close enough freeze the back of the boys neck.
"All this talk of monsters and villains." He growled lowly into the boy's ear. "But tell unloved child, because I don't think you can guess correctly, but I'll give you just one chance. If you guess right you might survive, if you guess wrong you will not."
He leaned in closer and whispered so low that Jonathan had better have been straining with all he had to listen. "Who is the monster really? Who is the villain? I should look inside myself quickly to find out or I shall show you the insides of yourself."

The soda that Jonathan had drank for dinner suddenly came out. Ignoring the warm liquid now trickling down his leg, he whirled suddenly and and stared in horror at the thing that had managed to creep up behind him. All other emotion or feeling was gone - sheer terror dominated again. He stared in horror at the second creature that had now joined the first. This one looked wilder, crazier, and Jonathan didn't get the impression all it wanted to do to him was talk.
"I don't know." He howled, frantically trying to move away from the two terrible creatures in front of him. "I don't know anything about me. I don't know anything about you. I'm not Ian! I can't figure out things with only a few clues!" Curling up in a corner on the other side of the room, Jonathan whimpered slightly. "Do you want me to say I'm the monster? Do you want me to say I'm the villain? I will! I don't want to die, please!"

Lhachlhass chuckled and moved in closer."Do you hear Korli-kitty. Aren't humans or things with the human thought process fun? It is always about them in some odd twisted way even when they must do the twisting themselves. They cannot see, it is perhaps why our Glamour works on them? It fascinates me you know. It is not us with the power, it is them. We do not hide things, they refuse to see them."
The Hunter grabbed Jonathan by the back of the neck and threw him down to the ground. Closing the distance between them Lhachlhass slammed his foot down onto Jonathan's stomach ensuring that he would stay where he was.
"You were wrong boy, remember what I told you would happen if you were wrong?"
Lhachlhass' hand headed towards his belt and dagger but stopped halfway there a horrible smile coming his face. His hand stopped in mid-air went up towards his back and he drew out from a quiver a short crude looking arrow. Something cold and alive seemed to generate from the arrow. Even Lhachlhass held the Elfbolt with caution.
"Ah, but by the way, the answer in case you wonder while you bleed out is me. I am the monster and I am the villain. I am why you fear the dark."
