The fae made their way through the hallways, some creeping stealthily into rooms, some making havoc openly.

Hitomi collapsed in the hallway outside the backstage doors, her chest heaving as heavy sobs broke out. It was still there -- weighing down on her and crushing her like bricks. He hadn't been this strong last time, and even with Lhachlhass and Korlian in the same room, it shouldn't have been all around her like that. It was everywhere, creeping along the ceilings and under the floors and driving her mad.
Hitomi trembled and curled up in the floor, her breath coming in shallow rasps. No, this was much worse than anything she had ever imagined. They were here inside.

At about that moment- or not too many minutes afterwards- Peace happened to be wandering out of the band room to get a drink. As he bent down towards the water fountain, he noticed an odd heap in the hallway nearby, and looked up. Is that a person?
He took a quick sip and walked over slowly, then ran when his fears were realized. He bent down next to the costumed boy- girl-
"Hitomi? Hey!" he touched her shoulder gently. "Hey, what's wrong? What happened?"

Hitomi gasped, looking up at her friend with wide, panicked eyes. What could she say? Would he believe her? Would he think she was crazy?
"There's no time to explain," she murmured, shaking her head. "But...you have to trust me, okay? You have to believe me." She felt the press of the fae around her. They were getting closer... Someone had to hold them off. "There are--things. Getting into the school. Things from the forest. Faeries."
She pulled herself off the floor, bracing against the wall. "They were in the auditorium, too, when--" Her eyes shot to the door and she let out a terribly sob. She left them. She knew what was happening, and she left them inside. She couldn't have done much, true--all she could do was see them, and it wasn't as though it would have been that hard for anyone looking to tell what they were--but the very idea that she had left them, that she had abandoned her family... Hitoshi, Tristan, Rudy, Rivienne, and her friends. All of them were in there, and she ran.
Hitomi darted back toward the door, tugging the handle and pounding on the wood. It was no use. It was locked. She rested her head against the door. "I just left them all," she whispered. She turned back to Peace, still teary eyed. "We have to do something. I don't think there's much we can do in there, but...can't we do something to fight them off?"
Please, please just let him believe her.

Peace listened to Hitomi's panicked words with some shock. "Okay," he replied reflexively.
He hesitated then, realizing what he'd just said; 'okay'? 'Okay' what? Whatever Hitomi was freaking out about, he knew nothing about it. "Okay," he repeated, "there are things breaking into the castle? Let's, uhm, we probably should find people, then. Safety in numbers."

Aramis could tell there was something very wrong in this school. He grabbed his bow, slid his quiver over his back and headed for the auditorium. Carmen wasn't in his dorm, and Aramis couldn't remember where he was... But most of the school was at the closing night of the play, and so that was where the danger was and there were people hurt, or it was the safest place in the castle. Either way, that was where he wanted to be.
As he reached the door, he saw two boys... no, one was a girl. Hey, that was the twin of one of his classmates... Hitoshi from his Necromancy class. She had a similar name... and the guy almost looked like he was a wolf. If he could trust his senses in the madness of this odd night. He went to speak and his voice refused to even work enough to make a noise for them to hear him. Mentally cursing his shyness, which even now had him pressed against the wall, just watching them, he pushed himself forward and fought a quick battle with his throat. And won.
"Hey, do either of you know what is going on?" he asked. And immediately lost the battle with his voice again. Oh well. He'd be able to talk again once they replied.

Hitomi turned toward Aramis and gave a shuddering sigh. "We're being invaded," she murmured. "By the Fae. And most of the people who would know what to do -- the Headmaster, Professor Smoke, all of them -- are inside the auditorium, and they're locked in by... something." Hitomi wasn't ready to start throwing accusations at Angel to random people, at least not just yet. There would be too much explaining to do.
"Nearly all the professors are inside there, which means..." Her voice caught in her throat. "Which means it's basically just us."
She glanced up at Peace, then at Aramis. "We have to find others... We have to warn them." Hitomi pressed her hands to her face. How did someone hold out the Fae? There was iron... but other than that, what could they do? They wouldn't have nearly enough iron to fight off something this massive. If only Thrall were here, he would have some idea of what to do...

Peace squeezed Hitomi's shoulder. "Yeah, let's do that. Don't worry, whatever's out there, there are plenty of us who can fight- I'm sure some of the professors, even, are out here somewhere."
Suddenly, a thought struck him. "Hey, isn't there an intercom system? We could use that to warn people. If the Headmaster's stuck in there, hell, I'd say we have an obligation," he grinned. "The main offices aren't far from here, right? And then we can, uhm." He looked at Hitomi with big blue soulful puppy eyes. "'Tomi, I'm sorry, but do you think you can tell where they are in more detail? Or try, because if we can track them, we could figure out where they might've encountered people by their movements... find people that need help."
"And I don't know what you can do," he said to Aramis, "but your help would be appreciated, and if not, we can at least protect you getting to the Headmaster's office."

Aramis shifted his quiver onto his back in a more comfortable position and set an arrow on his string. "I'm a healer... Nothing like Miss Ellie, but I've managed to save a life which has to count for something. Besides, if I were completely helpless I wouldn't have this with me, now would I?"
He raised the bow a little, then lowered it again, holding the arrow almost completely drawn back on the string. Aramis regularly hunted; he could help keep them safe.

Hitomi nodded nervously. "That sounds like a good idea." She swallowed. "Right now, um. They're..." She closed her eyes. It made it easier not to have all of her senses working against each other. "There's a group above us... maybe on the next floor," she murmured. "There are the ones in the auditorium..."
She turned down the hall, peering. "And there's a group about ten meters down, halfway between here and the office. I'll bet they're heading for the main office, too. There aren't a lot of them, but they're a little more powerful than most of the others."

Peace stood up, facing the end of the hallway with a fierce look on his face. "We'll just have to get there first, then. Come on." He began heading towards the Headmaster's office, jogging at first, then running just slow enough to keep Hitomi and Aramis in sight once they began to follow.
It wasn't long before the group Hitomi had seen was in sight; first was a pair of short goblin-like things turning towards the sound of boots rushing down the hallway. Seeing them unarmed- though those fingers sure looked pointy- Peace barreled straight into them with a ragged howl, knocking one against the wall and managing to pick the other one up. Not ten feet further, the rest of the group became visible, maybe half a dozen armed with weapons ranging from a stone knife to what looked to be a pair of very strange six-shooters. Goblin B was tossed unceremoniously into the crowd, and Peace stopped in his tracks.
Surprised and angry, they glared at him, and the more quick-witted ones began to advance; the largest one, a furry-looking ogre-thing and the one armed with guns, growled something and levelled both of them straight at Peace. Peace glanced backwards towards his friends, tossed his jacket back over his shoulder, and dropped to the ground. In a heartbeat, a huge red-furred wolfman leapt into the fray, snarling and snapping.

Aramis raised his bow and aimed directly at the large ogre-thing, carefully avoiding Peace and loosing his arrow directly at the creature. It was followed by several more, each aimed exactly at one of the goblins or the larger creatures. Aramis advanced slowly, keeping Hitomi next to him. Several of the Fae managed to dodge his arrows and the wolf, deciding to leave the wolf-beast to their larger compadres and attack the two less physically impressive figures.
He watched them, knowing his steel arrowheads would have less effect than anything pure iron. Stay back...

Carmen ran past Ara sword drawn his eyes only focused in front of him halfway across the distance he crossed the sword in one hand and the lighter in the other, the blade flashing to life with fire.
He focused slightly on the fire making it wrap so tightly around the blade there was only a slight red outline as proof of it's existence. The distance began to close a few feet and he stowed the lighter, a foot away and he swung back his sword taking it with both hands. Contact. He swung with everything he had making the fire explode as his sword hit skin.

Hitomi backed against the wall, watching in wonder as Peace ripped through the wall of creatures almost effortlessly. She'd never felt more helpless than this, staring down the hall and watching those things coming at them. They were winning now, but for how long...? And what could she do, besides see them?
She blinked, closing her eyes briefly, then opening them again. There was...something not right. She could feel one that wasn't there. Or that couldn't be seen.
"Peace! Behind you!" she shrieked. "It's invisible!"

Peace was overjoyed to see more people join in, both Aramis' arrows and Carmen's flaming sword clearly making a difference. The big ogre-thing smarted and dropped its aim, shooting gouts of fire into the air, and several of the smaller fae scattered or were dropped with relatively little effort.
Then he heard Hitomi's scream and whirled, not quite fast enough to avoid a sharp, tearing pain in his side. He snarled in anger and pain and slashed blindly at where the thing might have been; the first two blows swished in empty air, but the third hit something solid that cried out, and he leapt at it and snapped his teeth against what felt like a shoulder. The thing quickly became visible, and then, barely dodging a blow from another fae with the help of one of Aramis' arrows, Peace ripped it in half.

Aramis snarled when he saw Peace get hurt, and immediately leapt into the fray, drawing a pair of long fighting knives he'd been given before leaving home. He fought with skill, a grace that belied his usual careful actions, the careful movements of someone accustomed to getting hurt. He kept the Fae back from Hitomi and Peace, giving Peace a moment to recover after his injury. Carmen was fighting well on his own; Aramis moved to fight nearer to his friend, where it was safer for them both.
He wasn't sure where this skill was coming from, but he had been training with the knives that fit his hands like they were made for him. Perhaps he had picked it up faster than he had thought. Aramis knew he was far more suited to these knives than a sword. Glancing back, he saw one coming at Hitomi and leapt to her defense. Slipping, he fell to one knee, twisting to take the Fae down before it could hurt her.
Wavering for a moment, Aramis had to fight to regain his balance and attempt to rise to his feet. Regaining his footing, he put his weight on his left foot and winced. Twisted ankle; he couldn't stand and repair it, and he didn't have time to sit down and heal it. Focusing on the pain for a moment, he wrapped his magic around it tightly like a supernatural splint and turned his attention back to the fight, staying near Hitomi and returning for the moment to his bow.

Carmen winced when he saw Ara go down, sighing he dove down and moved as fast as he could to close to where Ara and Hitomi were. He stopped in front of them and made the flames go as hot and high as he could and then with everything he had Carmen brought the blade crashing to the floor sending a wall of fire up in front of him, hopefully he that would hold them back for at least a few minutes. He turned around to Aramis. "Do something about your leg NOW and don't argue with me. If your hurt you'll make stupid mistakes and miss shots and that's the kind of shit that will get people torn apart. So now when I can afford you a few minutes!"
I hope, he thought staring in front of him.

Aramis dropped again deliberately, holding his ankle and testing it magically. Nothing really had been injured, just pushed a bit further than it could easily take. Forcing his body to heal it faster than normal, erasing the pain, he stood quickly and tested it. He could stand easily, and aim well.
"Thanks, Car. I'm good," he said quickly, keeping his bow ready for the moment the fire faded.

Hitomi gripped the wall for support, pressing her fingers to her temple. "We have to push through," she said. "We have to push them back. The quicker we get to the headmaster's office, the better."
She glanced over at the others. "Do you think you can manage to stun them long enough to get past them? These things aren't all that powerful, especially not compared to the other things lurking in here. If we can shove through them, we'll get to the office a lot quicker than trying to take them all on, and we'll wear ourselves out."

Aramis nodded slightly, "Or I... I think I can make a shield to protect all of us. I'm still learning that, but it should work. I can do it in class. That would keep them back enough for us to get through."
He wasn't normally so verbose... it was odd. But they were in danger; perhaps that was part of the reason. Survival was more important than being shy.

Carmen sighed as he backed towards Aramis and Hitomi.
"Alright, but where to? Just running won't be good enough. We need some kind of plan so this doesn't all go to hell and take us with it."
He said glancing back at them for half a second.

"If we get to the headmaster's office, we can keep most of them out and get on the intercom," she replied. "From there...hopefully we can find a professor, or at least a few more students. It would give us so time to get a plan worked out."
She looked forward at the vast swirling sea of colors, the ominous feeling pressing in around her. "Because if we're just chipping them off like we are now, we haven't got a prayer."
