It took about a day and a half before Jonathan realized that declaring his intent to discover the secret behind the mysterious symbols might have been a hasty move. Despite his supposed knowledge of the secrets of the school, Jonathan was completely at a loss for how to proceed with his investigation. Eventually, he was left with only two options; go to the headmistress, or go to the library.
Jonathan chose the former. He approached the headmistress' office now with his fists clenched and his determination overwhelming his fear. Not that there was very much fear to speak of. Jonathan had yet to see the Headmistress do anything to earn it.
He paused for a moment at the door to the office, staring blankly at the symbol mocking him from the door. Then he raised a fist and pounded on the door as loudly as he could. That should get the woman's attention...

Veronique glanced up at the door, her fingers twitching on the keyboard. Who on earth was interrupting her now?
"What do you want?" the headmaster snapped.

Jonathan took that as his cue to enter. He shoved the door open and stepped in, shutting it behind him. "I just wanted to have a little chat. You aren't too busy or important for that, right? You have time to connect with your student body?"

Himmel came up behind him grabbing the back of his neck and pulling Jonathan closer to him.
"Hirnlos I know rocks that are too busy and important to speak to you and you might want to watch what you ask for, Vero's idea of 'connecting with the student body' includes people having to send home letters starting with 'Well, I sure hope you had more then one child..'. You understand?"
Himmel easily moved the boy by his neck back out of the office.
"If you have one tiny little ounce of pretend intelligence you'll walk away, I just did you a favor."

At first, Jonathan entertained the idea of simply walking away. But he had exerted the effort to stand up and walk down to the office, and Jonathan would be damned if he was going to give up without a fight. Even if it was with the scary bitch in the office.
His fist pounded on the door again. "Hello? Scary headmistress lady? I appreciate the display of affection towards me, but can you tell your winged monkey to let me back in? I need to talk to you about... you know, stuff." He didn't want to say he was looking into the symbols right off the bat. "Important stuff."

Himmel blocked the doorway his back against it. It was Vero's call what to do up to the point where she tried to kill students.
He turned to Veronique raising an eyebrow, Himmel considered her for a moment. "Flying monkey.. so if I throw water on you...?"

Veronique narrowed her eyes threateningly at the other vampire. Like Hell.
"Actually," she responded loudly, "I think Himmel is more of a Dorothy personally. Wouldn't you agree, Jonathan?"

Jonathan chuckled a little bit. "I dunno. He kinda reminds me more of Toto." He said through the door, leaning against the wall next to it. Jonathan stared at the symbol painted on the door idly and waited for someone to open it for him. If anyone was going to open it for him.

Veronique rolled her eyes. "Jonathan, if you have anything important to say, come in and sit down and I will try to pay attention to your petty problems," she called, leaning back in her chair. "If not, please go find someone else to bother."

With that, Jonathan managed to push his way through the door. He strode across the room and plopped himself down in a chair across form Vero's desk. As soon as he sat down, he moved his feet around and pulled another chair in front of him. Propping his feet up on the second chair, he folded his arms behind his head.
"So," He said. "I've decided that since Ian was nice enough to do the research on what I am for me, and since I'm feeling really good about uncovering secrets, I decided I needed a new hobby. And finding out what those symbols that popped up around the school were seemed like just the right fit, since no one else seems to be doing anything about it, so I appointed myself to the case. Probably because you're too busy dealing with the more... flesh-and-blood problems this school has, so to speak."

Veronique twitched slightly as Jonathan slung his feet up on top of her chair, her fingers clenching slightly over the keyboard of her computer. Of all the...
"If you expect to get any help from me, child, you had best get your filthy feet out of my clean chair and onto the floor were they belong," she commented icily.
"And what, pray tell, makes you think you are so capable of solving this mystery, hm?" Veronique turned slightly in her chair to face out at Jonathan, steepling her hands on the desk.

Jonathan sighed and kicked the chair away from him, planting his feet on the floor.
"Because I don't have anything else to worry about." He said, staring up at the ceiling. "I have no friends, no responsibilities, and an infinite amount of boredom." He lowered his head to look directly at the headmistress. "I figured this would be a better use of my time then, oh, vandalizing your school and tormenting your students. And I might even actually learn something in the process."

Veronique perked up slightly at 'vandalizing your school', her hands thumping on the desk and clenching the edges until her knuckles went white. "Vandalizing?" she repeated. "You should be more careful where you lay your threats, boy, or I might take that as a confession, friendless and brainless as you are." She smirked. "Oh, I'm sorry, I could have sworn you listed 'no brain' in that."
Veronique stood slowly, looming over him. "Now, let's try that again," she said, her voice ringing with false sweetness and veiled threats. "What, dear student, can your helpful headmaster do for you?"

Jonathan held his ground, returning her smirk with one of his own. "I'm doing some extracurricular studies in the field of doing-shit-no-one-else-seems-to-have-time-to-do. My latest projects involves helping your little school out by finding out who was nice enough to paint symbols on your door and trash at least one room. So my helpful headmistress can be helpful and tell me things about the symbols so I can hunt down the perpetrator and deposit him on your doorstep." His wicked grin grew wider. "Is that up to your satisfaction, Oh Dark Mistress of Cynicism and Borderline Abuse?"

Himmel wrapped his arms around the top of the back of Jonathan's chair adding his weight to make it tip slightly towards him.
"Actually," he broke in "It's 'The Queen of Darkness and Forced Education."
Himmel released the chair for a second before catching it again making it jolt forward and back. He looked up as if in thought.
"Are you sure you can figure this one out? I mean I hate to rain on your "I'm a good boy now" parade but I'm afraid there will be hard things involved in this like reading and putting facts together on your own. I just don't one of our students to exhaust himself on our account."
He leaned over the chair smiling at Jonathan.

Jonathan smiled. Himmel had taken the bait beautifully. His day was complete.
"I was going to say that, but I worried it was copyrighted." He said, smirking up at Himmel. "And I like 'Borderline Abuse' better." He coughed and changed the subject. "Who said anything about being a good boy? I'm just doing you a favor. As soon as I'm done I'm going right back to bullying and harassing. And I have trained a monkey to read for me. His name is Ian and if I give him something interesting to do, he runs off to the library and doesn't come out."
Jonathan slid out of the chair and moved to sit in another one, looking back over at the Headmistress and Himmel. "Besides, like I said; If the answer were as simple as reading a book, you, or one of your illustrious colleagues, would have cracked this thing wide open by now."

Veronique narrowed her eyes. "I am not sure what makes you believe that you might find some answer where Professor Smoke cannot, prowling alone with your...'trained monkey' in the library," she drawled. "You are more than welcome to view our security tapes of the incident, but I can assure you there is nothing of help on them. Beyond that, I doubt there is anything I can give you."

Jonathan sat upright in his chair. "That'll work. I love movies." Then he slumped back down and folding his hands behind his head. "Besides, I find prowling to be a much better way to solve things than sticking my nose in a book. You can't see the clues themselves if you're looking at pages. Tell you what, when I solve this, and I will solve this, you can do something nice for me. Like not kill me. That'd be super."
