Zypher sat back in the cushions, the controller held loosely in his hand. The stupid character wouldn't do what he wanted, and the damn giant spider had just killed him again. Sighing, he restored his last savepoint and started over.
"Not a word, Ozora. You couldn't do any better even if you were in human form."

Ozora made a cooing noise, perched on the back of the chair. His blue eyes looked closely at Zypher's as he let the coo turn into a chuckle. Nipping at Zypher's nose lightly, he hopped to Zypher's shoulder, settling himself more thoroughly with his claws dug into the fabric of his friend's coat.

Tuebor was bored. It was too sunny outside to go climbing, the music room was locked, and his parents were in the library debating some thing or other. Whatever. He refused to debate with his parents before noon. Of course, he could always trounce on down to the kitchens. Rhythan was an interesting person to watch and at the very least he offered a chance for that girl-pet-thing of his to be around. She was kind of cute, he had decided. Especially when she looked up at him in absolute horror. Maybe she was afraid of the dark. Oh well.
But then again, the student lounge was a shorter walk. And Tuebor was feeling lazy. Maybe he could actually strike up a conversation with someone, instead of just watching from the sidelines like a creeper. The door opened with a satisfying creak and Tuebor slipped inside, his eyes immediately drawn to the television screen.
"Damn spiders," he commented. "So annoying."

"I know. It's the third time. I should have played that haunted house game again. I've won it six times now, but..." Zypher shrugged, focused on his game. "Not so hard Ozora, you're about to make me bleed."
"Don't recognize your voice. M'name's Zypher," he said, jerking his head to the side at Ozora. "This is Ozora, and he's not naturally a bird. Well, he is and isn't. Say hello to the newbie, Zor."

Ozora hopped off of Zypher's shoulder and shifted human, fixing his clothes with a twitch. "Hello, Newbie."
He gave the kid a quirky grin, leaning against the back of the couch. "By the way, Zypher. Try hitting z next time. It works better."

Tuebor blinked a few times and went to drop unceremoniously onto the next couch over. He stretched his long form out and propped his head up on one palm. "Umm, hi there werebird... Ozora, did you say?" Where had those clothes come from? That seemed like cheating-- he had seen his uncle Bolin transform enough times to know what happened to the clothing of a transformed werebeing.
"Where did your threads ninja out from?"

"Magic. It's a wonderful thing, isn't it?" he grinned widely. "You know we all have these powers, mine happens to be clothes from nowhere. Isn't it wonderful?"
He leaned over and patted Zypher's head as he was murdered again. "I told you, hit z."

Zypher looked up at his friend. "Ozora, I should so light your sleeve, but I won't because I don't want to smell burned feathers for the next week."
He looked over at the kid. "You still haven't given us a name there, kid. We gave you ours, what's yours? And I see you know a few werebeings. Ozora's a lucky one. Somehow his clothes disappear when he goes bird and reappear when he shifts human again. Which is convenient for him and makes him cocky as hell."
Getting a handful of Ozora's long hair, he tugged lightly until the other sat on the couch next to him. Shoving the controller into his friend's hands, he crossed his arms. "If you're so good at this game, then you get past this part."

Tuebor gave a crooked grin. "My my, that is a handy trick." He twisted into a sitting position, adding after a moment, "I'm Tuebor. Sorry for not introducing myself-- I'm not one to indulge myself in conversation on a regular basis."
He leaned back, watching the two of them. The air around him, visibly dimmer than the rest of the room, seemed to slowly grow darker as he sat still. "If he's a werething, what do you do, Zypher?"

Zypher looked at him, then smirked a little. Raising one hand, a ball of fire formed over his palm. Flames flickered around his fingers, brightening somewhat the shadow Tuebor was creating. He leaned his other elbow on Ozora's shoulder, leaning against his friend with a grin. The flames continued licking at his fingers, reaching for the ceiling and yet never reaching further than his fingertips.
"Mostly... this. Oh, and burn up from the inside out, but that's just an unavoidable side effect that my fathers keep telling me isn't going to kill me," he shrugged. "I figure they're probably right because I don't plan on letting my magic kill me first."

Tuebor, less than impressed, crossed his arms and tipped his head slightly to one side. The shadows around him seemed to absorb the light created by the fire and became all the more dark. He grinned.
"I like that power," he said simply.

Ozora paused the game and glared at Zypher, "You aren't going to die from your magic or your own hand. I'll make sure of the second and I'm pretty sure you aren't going to die of spontaneous combustion either. So stop talking like that."
The blue feather in his hair dangled in front of his eyes, moved by the swift turn of his head. He jerked it away, his eyes narrowed. He hated it when Zypher started talking like that.

Zypher shrugged, letting the fire fade. "It's not anywhere near as cool as Ozora's, and it's going to kill me besides, so... Well, unless I slip up and in my search for a rush take care of it myself."
He looked over at Ozora with a raised brow. "I thought you were going to kill the spider. I don't see a dead spider. I see a nearly dead elf."

Camille, hands tucked loosely in her pockets, pushed the door to the student lounge open with her hip and paused just before walking by the first couch.
"Lord of the Rings?" she asked, then, without waiting for an answer, added, "It's easier if you back the spider against a wall or something. Then it can't do that annoying circle-back move." She ducked slightly as she walked past the student playing the game so as not to obstruct his vision, gave Tuebor a quick glance, and took a seat on the floor between the two couches. She could have just as easily settled onto one of the many chairs in the room, but none of them were facing the television. Tragic.

"Thanks," Ozora said, unpausing and striving to do just that. He gave a triumphant shout and handed the controller back to Zypher. "There you go, one dead spider. And one still alive elf character. Do you always have to play Legolas? I mean, I know you look like him but..."
He wrapped an arm around Zypher's shoulders and ruffled his friend's long hair. "Though not as much as Doctor Stryker does. Doctor Stryker looks like all he's missing is the pointed ears.
"Anyway, 'nother new person. Hullo, this is Zypher, I am Ozora and you are...?"

Camille gave the speaker a small salute and a smile from her spot on the floor. "Cami," she said immediately. "Er, rather, Camille, but I like Cami better-- it's close to my dad's old nickname. That's not important, though."
She looked at the screen and grinned. "Legolas, really? I liked Leggy in the books, but the movies kind of ruined him for me...."
Oh, but she was babbling again. Camilled pulled her knees to her chest, folded her arms atop them, and leaned her shoulders against the couch. "Hi to both of you, by the by." She leaned her head back to speak to Tubeor, "And you. I don't like you. You get no greeting. Feel unaccomplished."

Tuebor lay a hand flat against his chest, feigning an expression of hurt. "Oh, boo. Cami-camcam doesn't like me. How ever will I live on?" The pout turned into a half smirk, half snarl and he nudged the back of the girl's head with his foot. "You talk too much. Go away and don't come back until you have your sister with you."

"That's enough of that. If you two can't be civil, go find somewhere else to be immature," Zypher said, nudging Cami lightly with his foot without taking his eyes from the screen. "Trying not to die here.
"Also, Zor? I play Legolas because I want to, no further reason. I play other characters when I want to, I just felt like Legolas today. Maybe it's the 'living forever' thing. I think it wouldn't be too bad to live forever. Well, as long as I could travel. Wouldn't want to end up like the resident creeper here."

Camille flinched at having a toe in her ribs. "Oof." She pointed an accusing finger at Tuebor, realized she had started it, but continued with her statement: "I blame tall, dark, and masochistic over here." She did not elaborate, opting instead to stand up and perch on the arm of the couch on which Zypher and Ozora sat.
"Oh, Fable. That old--" she stopped herself, knowing that the next few words would have been less than amiable. "There are several very painful things I'd like to do that... thing."

"I meant Jonathan, but Fable works too. Except for a moronic excuse for an imitation human being, Jonathan isn't too bad looking. Fable is... well, I'm not sure what wor-" Zypher cut himself off as he was attacked again, fighting with the controller furiously. His eyes narrowed to slits as he fought the spider, yelping in triumph as he killed the creature.
"Mhaha. Ahem. I was saying, I don't know what word would best describe Fable."

Camille waved her hand at Tuebor in a bah motion. "Nah, Gremlins are cute unless you feed them after midnight or get them wet. I don't think Fable has ever been mold-free, let alone physically aesthetic."

"Gremlins are ugly, Mogwai are cute," Ozora corrected. "Getting them wet makes them multiply, it doesn't uglify them. Fable... is Fable. I'm not even sure if he technically has a race."
He watched Zypher play for a while, leaning his head on Zypher's shoulder. The blue feather fell over his eyes again, but he didn't care. It was a pity Zypher wasn't interested... He looked up at Zypher through a curtain of neon-white hair, admiring his profile. Such a pity.

Zypher looked down at him and jerked his shoulder a little. "Off, Ozora. It's hard to play with you draping yourself all over me."
While he enjoyed having the kid around, he didn't like the kid's hero worship. Unlike his adoptive fathers, Zypher wasn't interested in his own sex, and no matter how often he told Ozora no, the kid still would hang all over him. Oh well... It usually wasn't too bad.

Tuebor looked at his watch, stretched, scratched his head, and stood up.
"Wellp," he said, "I'm off to find additional entertainment." He smirked down at Camille. "Maybe I'll find your sister." Not allowing for the girl to respond, he took a few long strides towards the door and was soon making his exit.
