Vincent looked from Diana to Veronique, holding the Headmistress' gaze and speaking calmly in answer to both of them. "Himmel attacked me and put me in a chokehold. I hit him instinctively, purely in self-defense, before I realized who he was."

"What, Himmel?" Veronique looked at Vincent in mild confusion. "Have you seen the boy? He's tiny. Pathetic. Weak." Veronique patted Himmel lightly on the head. "Not to mention, Himmel could hardly hurt a fly. I seriously doubt he would have been a threat to you."

Thrall dashed up to his brother, hands over his head in a mock attack pose.
"Rrrrwwoooar!" he yelled, his voice muffled slightly from inside his zombie werewolf costume. "I'm gonna eat you, and your girlfriend can watch and cry!"

Zephyros was having a great deal of difficulty with the heels. How on earth women walked around in these bloody things on a regular basis he would never understand. How his BOYFRIEND walked around in these accursed things on a regular basis, for that matter! He was glad he’d gotten low heels, because anything higher than this and he was certain he’d had already broken an ankle, or his fool neck. At least the dress covered most of his fumbles. The wide, many-layered, very yellow dress. If Zeph hadn’t temporarily dyed his hair brown (that had taken a bit. After all, it made him look a great deal like Euros, and that was never a good thing), he would have been a little too much for the eyes. As it was, it was still a very yellow dress. That Aritha had had far too much fun fitting to him. The girl was tireless… and had probably been working on some of these costumes since the year before. Aramis’ at the very least, since Zeph could distinctly recall hearing her mention it. He was looking forward to seeing how the quiet mage looked.
Zeph turned to look at Jason, who was looking very much the Beast. Putting all that prosthetic fur on his boyfriend had been fun, as was watching Jason try to figure out the gloves with their claws. “You know, if one of my brothers says anything, I’m going to have to wait for a later date to pound them. A pity.”
He turned to grin at Jason, undeterred by the rather fierce appearance he’d helped create. Apparently, Aritha had had her hands full with a certain healer-in-training.

Ariel had been standing somewhere near her father, looking around the room for any sign of Jaebi coming in, when she heard someone shouting and someone else crying out in alarm. She looked up just in time to see her father ducking out of a chokehold someone had him in, and let out a yelp herself when she saw him kneeing the person in the nuts.
Her hands flew to her mouth as she gasped in shock and cringed in sympathy at the same time. That had been -- really weird, actually. She looked up at her father in a mixture of shock and confusion, one high-pitched word escaping her. "Dad!"

Jason grinned at Zeph, noticing the trouble he was having with walking, and pitying him to no end. "Aww, my poor heart. Having to wait for violence, what a shame." He winked. "How are those heels treating you?"
He was quite proud of how his costume had turned out; he looked every inch the monstrous Beast. He was covered almost head to foot in thick brown faux fur, with two long black horns curving outward from his forehead. He had furry clawed gloves and furry clawed shoes, and a long wolfish tail hanging down from the seat of his pants. Aritha had done an excellent job, as always. The only problem was that it was incredibly hot in this outfit.

Zephyros stuck his tongue out at Jason. "Your tone says pity, but your words say mocking. Whichever am I to believe?"
As he spoke, he split his attention just a little too far, stumbled, and fell against Jason with a grunt. "Well, crap."

Blaise stumbled as Rhys grabbed hold of his cape, whirling back around to face the other boy. He sighed heavily and put his hands on Rhys' shoulders.
"Rhys, I'm just trying to get you to have fun," he explained. "And unless you can tell me a way to do that that doesn't involve getting drunk and making you dance to embarrassing music in front of strangers..." Blaise grinned. "Right now, that's pretty much my default strategy."

Jason fought back a grin as Zeph stumbled and fell against him. He did his best to help his boyfriend stand upright without scratching him too much with his claws, laughing and shaking his head. "Maybe I should have worn the dress again this year. It's probably safer that way."

Zephyros stuck his tongue out at Jason. "No, that would have been predictable. The point was to see how many double-checks we could get."
He stood carefully and fixed the skirts, then very carefully steadied his balance again. "There. I just need to take smaller steps is all."
He beamed at Jason, and led him to the Hall. Pausing at the door, he offered Jason his arm, the beaming smile now gentled to a demure smile.

"Well, ja, but it's still safer. I'm used to wearing hells, you're not." Jason grinned and took Zeph's arm, and they walked into the Hall together. Jason kept a close eye on his boyfriend, wanting to make sure he didn't stumble again.
He looked around the hall and grinned. The place was elaborately decorated, and full of the smells of various party foods. The music, however, left much to be desired. Jason led Zeph carefully forward, looking around to see who he knew. There were the Professors Hawk and Ariel standing next to the Headmaster and Professor Himmel; Aritha and Rudeth were not too far from them, along with Aramis and someone who might have been Rudeth's brother Thrall. Joelle was off in a corner, and she was the last of those he recognized. There were a few others he couldn't put names to.
Jason looked at Zeph, still grinning. "Who should we mingle with?"

Zeph looked at Aritha and her crowd, and grinned. "Ah, that's what Aritha was talking about when she said she had the perfect costume for Aramis. She's right, it does suit him. How did she find time to make all of the costumes she did? Aramis' certainly took time, as did ours, and then there's hers and Rudeth's... Then there's all the clothes she makes for herself for fun."
He shook his head, then looked thoughtful. "Who do you want to mingle with? Aritha and Rudeth appear to have their hands full with Thrall... I think that's Thrall... and I have no preference."

Post by Meriel "Dubhiarr" MacNamara on Oct 20, 2010 13:52:18 GMT -5
Dubhiarr glanced down at Elspeth as they headed into the hall together. They were quite a mismatched pair, an elven princess and a little mermaid. Dubhiarr was dressed as Arwen, with a long dark brown wig over her two-toned hair (the purple dye was finally starting to grow out, and her dark red roots were beginning to show), a long black dress with red sleeves, and very realistic-looking pointed ears.
Dubhiarr grinned, looking around the beautifully-decorated hall. There were several people there she could recognize and name right away, and a few she couldn't. Aritha looked gorgeous in her Greek-style purple dress -- Du had wanted to dress up as Meg, but rather than look like a copy-cat after finding out that Aritha had had that character in mind, she'd found a better alternative. She would have looked weird as a half-mermaid Meg, anyway. At least this dress hid her legs and feet.
"Where to first?" she asked her sister. "Snack and drinks or dancing?"

Jason grinned. "She's a vampire, she doesn't sleep. That's probably part of it."
"Hmmm..." Jason looked around again, thoughtfully. There weren't too many others there that they knew, besides professors, and from the look of things over by the snack table, it was probably wisest not to get involved. "We could always go talk to Joelle. She looks kind of lonely over there on her own."

Elspeth tucked a strand of hair behind her ear as she followed Du into the Hall, somewhat awkwardly in her figure-hugging, shimmery teal dress. Disney seemed to be the theme of the night, she thought, looking around at the other people in the room: there was an Aurora, Hercules and Meg, Beauty and the Beast, and Elspeth herself as Ariel. There was also a Wicked Witch of the West, Little Red Riding Hood, Phantom of the Opera, some kind of zombie-werewolf thing, a couple of vampires, something very strange in very bright colors, an elf, what looked like a Goth angel, and someone who hadn't put much into his costume at all, just a pair of cat ears. Hm.
"Let's get some snacks first," she decided. "I want to get settled in a bit."
Though by the looks of things, there was trouble brewing over by the snack table; a cluster of professors were stnding around one who looked to be in a lot of pain. Elspeth wondered silently what had happened there; it looked like something had broken on the floor. The light caught something glistening wetly, and little glints of what might have been broken glass.
"You know what? On second thought, let's dance." She headed in the direction of the dance floor, looking around for someone she might want to dance with.

Zephyros nodded. "Well, that is obvious. But still... what about her school work?" he shook his head and shrugged. "Whatever, it's her time to use as she will, I suppose."
He rested his gloved hand gently on Jason's arm, smiling. "Well, why don't we then? Luckily, neither of us are from Kansas, or she might try to take you away from me." He ignored the stretch that took it from 'little dog' to 'wolf.'

Jason smirked. "The Wicked Witch wasn't just after Toto, you know. She wanted Dorothy, and mostly because of the slippers, which apparently weren't originally ruby. I think they were supposed to be silver. And who knows, maybe Jo's supposed to be the Witch before she was wicked. I'm sure she wasn't always."

Liam almost couldn't hold back a grin as he headed into the Great Hall, with the strange lurching, swaggering walk so typical of the character he was portraying. He'd spent weeks working on his costume, trying to get every detail right, and he was sure he'd done a pretty good job of becoming Captain Jack Sparrow. He could practically hear the theme music playing in his head as he moved awkwardly forward. Halloween was so much fun.
He looked around, trying to guess the people behind the costumes. He thought he recognized Rudy and Aritha as Hercules and Megara; the elf who stood near them was probably Aramis. The Phantom by the snack table had to be Professor Hawk, and the Little Red Riding Hood beside him was obviously the other Professor Hawk, formerly Harrows. Ariel looked very pretty as Aurora; the color-changing dress was a nice touch. The Wicked Witch had to be Joelle; Liam had heard her discussing costume ideas weeks ago. There was a Little Mermaid and a Lady Arwen in front of him, whom he couldn't recognize from the back. Beauty and the Beast were probably Jason and Zeph, but -- wait a sec -- that was Zeph in the huge yellow gown, not Jason. Liam snorted a little with laughter. That was unexpected.
Liam lurched/swaggered around the room, mingling with the crowd in general. He hoped Seele would be here, and wondered what she might dress up as. It'd be funny if she went as Elizabeth Swann.

Aramis took the opportunity that Thrall gave him to escape Aritha and her boyfriend, and managed to get halfway across the room before he decided to actually look around. The snack table caught his eye, and certainly looked far more interesting than the dance floor, so he carefully edged his way around the cluster of professors. He hesitated over the wine for half a moment, then got himself a glass of red. In most of the world, he was legal, and if any professor called him on it, he would point that out.
Taking what looked like it was a brownie, and smelled safe, he moved away. Let the adults deal with whatever that was. He could see Himmel on his back and felt a moment of sympathy for him, even if he had no idea what had happened.

Rhys tried very hard to keep a grin off his face, but failed. Whatever bullshit Blaise pulled, he was irrepressible- insufferable- one of those. Both. He made Rhys far happier than Rhys wanted to admit.
"Fine," he attempted to grumble. "But I get pick of a few songs too, later tonight." And I have some ideas for later, too.

Dubhiarr nodded in response to Elspeth's change of mind. "Yeah, you're right. Not sure I want to get tangled up in whatever's going on over there."
She grinned as she looked around for a possible dance partner. Aramis was all by himself over by the snack table; she left Elspeth to mingle with whoever she wanted and made her way smoothly over to him, smiling and greeting him in what little she knew of elvish.
"Mae govannen, Aramis. Dance with me?"

Aramis blinked in surprise when someone spoke to him, particularly when it was someone he didn't know very well. The last place he'd really seen her and been able to connect a name to the face was Necromancy 101. He set his wine down on a nearby table and bowed slightly. For some reason, being greeting in a language he knew about as well as it was possible to know made him feel pretty good. So long as she didn't call him Legolas.
"Mae govannen, Hiril Undómiel," he said gracefully, giving her a bit of a smile. "I don't see why not. Though if I could get the music box over there to play some sort of ballad I'd be a bit more able. I never was very good at modern dancing."

Dubhiarr grinned and nodded. "Fair enough, Hir Glorfindel. Need some change? I've got a roll of quarters here somewhere..." She stuck her left hand up her right sleeve and felt around for a few seconds, then grinned and pulled her hand out holding the roll. "Go put on something better than Lady GaGa."

"I'm a zombie werewolf! Duh." He gestured to the fuzzy mask he was wearing, spraypainted green, and the bloody, silver-splattered sweater he was wearing. "Zombie lycanthrope. Whatever."
"So have 'Tomi and 'Toshi made it yet?" He paused and looked around. "Is 'Tomi still dating that flowery thing?"
