"I teach P.E.," Dom replied with a smile, looking away from Vincent and turning his attention to SaeRyun. "I just started this September. Vincent recommended that I come here after an... unfortunate incident over the summer." He rubbed at a spot on the base of his neck as he spoke.
He looked over at the young blond as he was greeted, and grinned as he bowed and spoke in reply. "Mae govannen. Hir Glorfindel, is it not?"

Vincent nodded slowly, smiling too. "I see. Pray forgive me if I sounded at all insulting; I'm only trying to look after the well-being of every student, not just the minors. I trust the voice of experience, especially experience gained the hard way."
He watched in amusement as Aramis greeted Dominic in elvish, and then laughed when the young man's attention turned back to him. "I suppose you're right, in a way. And would that not, in a way, make Diana my Éowyn? Or would that be Ariel's mother?"

Aramis gave Vincent a wan smile. "No, you did not. I am sorry I snapped. Being parented sets my teeth on edge at the moment, and it has nothing to do with you."
He turned back to Dominic, feeling a need to answer things in order. Possibly a symptom of his current slight tendency to be compulsive. "I do not think Aritha had any particular Elf in mind, though for some reason a part of my mind says to call myself..." Aramis paused and shook his head, chuckling, "Aravilui. It is a name I hear in my dreams a great deal. Though, Glorfindel is my middle name, so that works as well. I still favor forests to the valley that would be Rivendell."
He looked at Vincent thoughtfully. "Which one would you think of as your Éowyn? I think that would be the difference."

Dominic nodded, grinning. "Aravilui it is, then. Though Glorfindel certainly suits you, especially with your hair -- if that is your real hair." It could very well have been a wig, for all he knew.

Vincent nodded and spoke quietly. "I understand."
He watched the exchange between Aramis and Dom, then smiled as his earlier question was answered. He pondered Aramis' words for a while before speaking.
"Well," he said thoughtfully, "Ariel's mother and I never really thought of ourselves as a pair being anything other than Erik and Christine. Éowyn was a warrior, and Diana is much nearer to that in her personality and hobbies than Christine was. So there you have it, I suppose," he said with a smile.

"Yes, it is most definitely my real hair. To be frank, I grew it out because it irritated my parents, and now because I think it looks good." He rolled his eyes. "Aritha certainly had fun playing with it. She spent nearly an hour just on that, and had Rudeth there in case I managed to escape her. Not that I had a chance against her unnatural strength anyway."
Aramis grinned at Vincent. "Then Diana is your Éowyn, and it seems to me a fitting match. For she does seem very much akin to the shieldmaidens of Rohan. I do not see her sitting idly by while the men earn great renowned, and I certainly do not see her sitting in a cage until glory and renown are out of recall or desire."
He turned back to Dom. "You want to know really weird dreams? Apparently in my dreams my name is also Finnelvalthen, which is basically the Sindarin equivalent. Both Glorfindel and Finnelvalthen mean 'golden-haired'. Yes, I do know a little too much of that world. Obviously, I dream in it and am called by names specific to it. The worst part is apparently I dream in Sindarin. I woke Kemekin last year calling out in it."
Aramis shrugged, looking at his still-full wine glass. "I'm beginning to think this is more a prop than anything, and that it should stay that way. I forgot how little alcohol it takes to affect me, if only slightly. I never talk this much."

Hitomi's costume was not flashy or elaborate like so many of the others. In fact, it barely looked like a costume at all.
Hitomi's long hair was worn straight and silky, free of gel or mousse or any of the other styling products she was fond of, and if Hitomi wore make-up at all, it was impossible to tell.
She wore a dark red boy's polo and jeans, tennis shoes, and a familiar pair of thick-rimmed glasses. It took every ounce of her self-control not to smile.
She didn't care if her costume was possibly the least elaborate--no, second least elaborate, was that Rhys with cat ears?--Hitomi's costume won.

"Neither do I." Vincent had to grin at Aramis' words, glancing over at Diana, whose attention was focused elsewhere and who was happily oblivious to their conversation. He felt rather sorry for her, having not heard them at all. Oh, well. It couldn't be helped.
He listened curiously as Aramis described his odd dreams to Dominic, and raised his eyebrows in intrigue. He decided not to comment, though, until Aramis' attention went back to his glass of wine. He couldn't help but chuckle, recalling a line spoken by Legolas in one of the Lord of the Rings films, about the effects of alcohol on the elf.
"I'm compelled to agree with you," he said with a lighthearted smile. He had certainly noticed that Aramis had been stuttering a lot less since he'd been drinking, and as glad as he was to see the shy young man opening up a little, he wasn't about to encourage him to drink any more.
He looked idly toward the door, seeing that someone had just walked in, and promptly did a double-take. Hadn't Hitoshi come in already? Vincent was certain he'd seen him here earlier with his boyfriend, both dressed as chess pieces... why would he leave and come back out of costume, though? It didn't make sense.
Intrigued, he looked closer. This person looked rather more feminine than Hitoshi did, but otherwise was an absolute dead ringer for him. He grinned, then laughed when the answer came to him. This had to be Hitomi, dressed up as her brother. It was sheer genius.

Dominic couldn't help but grin as he listened to "Aravilui" describe his dreams -- and they certainly did seem strange. He wasn't too sure what to make of that; he didn't know of anyone who dreamed in other languages than their own native ones, especially invented languages.
"'Really weird' just about covers it, I'd say," Dom laughed. "I've often had dreams about things I see or read just before going to sleep, but I can't say I've dreamed in another language before. That is very interesting."

Aramis shrugged, "Well, I learned Sindarin about the same time I was learning English, so I guess it is as about as strange as anyone else bilingual dreaming in the other language. Yes, my parents were freaks."
He sighed, shaking his head. Hearing Vincent chuckle, he turned and grinned at him. " 'I feel something... a slight tingle in my fingers. I think it's affecting me,' " he quoted, down to the tone and looking at his fingers. Then he paused.
"The sad thing is, my fingers really are. It isn't from the wine; they do that when I've had too much sugar," he said, then rolled his eyes. "See? I never talk this much."
Aramis looked at Dom again, thoughtful. "Well, a lot in this school is weird. My dreams, which I only have here, are nothing compared to some of this. That one in the yellow dress? He's a god, and he's not the only one. There's at least two Fae here as students, though it's hard to be sure if they really are, or just craz-"
He stopped, looking at the door. "Actually, that's the youngest of the two there and he looks the sa-" Again, Aramis stopped, blinking. He HAD looked the same.

Korlian was beginning to think he rather preferred the Unseelie Court. At least they gave him this one night to be his true self. Though there wasn't nearly as much fun this year to have as there had been last year, it was still marvelous to be his proper self, if only for a single night.
He had decided to get in on the mortal's fun, and was wearing a proper costume. Dressed in all white, he was the exact image of Jareth, the Goblin King. The only part of his costume he was going to use as a glamour was the hair, because he had no interest in cutting the top and then gelling it to keep it up. It was not as though any could penetrate his glamour at this time anyway. He even had the crystal, and was fully capable of dancing it around his hands.
But, to add to the fun, Korlian had first glamoured himself to appear as he did normally, a small child of fourteen, who looked both human and not-human. The child-image mirrored him perfect as he walked in, standing straight and tall and looking around with his usual imperial air, though the kid everyone saw was just looking around mischeviously.
That lost its appeal quickly, and he let that glamour drop. He looked good, after all. Korlian had even managed to charm an owl into sitting on his shoulder to complete the look. It was little more difficult than people might think to literally charm a predatory bird out of the trees, but Korlian had managed that too, with some coersion. Glamour was a wonderful thing, it really was. It really made him miss it when he was bound.

Vincent smirked at Aramis' quote, still looking toward the door to see who else was coming in. He spotted Korlian in the doorway and grinned, then blinked and did another double-take as the young boy suddenly took on the appearance of a grown man dressed all in white, with a live owl perched on his shoulder and a crystal orb in his hand. It took a moment for Vincent to name the character -- Jareth, the Goblin King. Now that was one impressive costume.

Dominic nodded as Aramis spoke. He'd known about the supernatural world for a long time, and even though he was still struggling to adjust to suddenly becoming part of said world, thanks to a lycanthrope bite, he was more or less prepared to accept the existence of Fae. Though he did have to wonder what the gods were doing here, in a school, of all places. And why one of them was wearing a dress.
He frowned a little as Aramis stopped talking in mid-word not once but twice, and followed his and Vincent's gazes toward the door. Someone had just come into the room, dressed up as Jareth from Labyrinth, complete with an owl and a crystal ball. It was easily one of the most elaborate costumes there. And this person was a Fae, and a student? Interesting. Very interesting.

Aramis blinked rapidly several times. "I swear that kid does NOT usually look like that. He looks like he did when he first came in, short and... Holy shit. That's a Daoine Sidhe. He's not kidding when he says he's a prince of the Fae. Holy shit."

Korlian definitely enjoyed the reactions he got from the three nearest the snack table. He glided over slowly, rolling the crystal between his fingers. He smirked, patting Aramis on the shoulder. "Oh, there is nothing particularly holy about it. At least, not in the way you mean," he said smoothly.
He turned to Dom. "I don't believe we've been properly introduced. I am Korlian, prince of the Summer Court and heir apparent. Last year I helped cause all sorts of havoc, though I had nothing to do with the death or lasting injury of any student," he smiled rather darkly, still slowly letting the crystal dance about his fingers. "Normally, Aramis is correct. I am a young child, bound to a mortal form. The reasons for which we shall not go into. And you are?"

Dom looked up at the Fae prince in a mixture of confusion, awe, surprise and... well, mostly confusion. It wasn't often he saw someone so much taller than he was, even if that someone were human. Just another thing he'd have to get used to, he supposed.
He smiled, recovering himself, and replied to Korlian's polite greeting with a touch of humor in his voice. "Dominic Hawk, brother of Vincent Hawk; prince of nowhere and heir of not a whole lot. An honor to make your acquaintance, Highness," he added with a bow of his head. It seemed the proper thing to do, whether or not Korlian was telling the truth about being a prince.

Korlian grinned at him, "Vincent's brother, is it? A pleasure to make your acquaintance."
He turned and looked at Vincent, raising a brow with a smirk. "Were it not Samhein, I would ask you about that mask, but I suppose tonight I will leave it be. After all, we had this discussion before, did we not?"

Vincent grinned and nodded, remembering that night very well. "Indeed we did, and I took your words to heart. But I still enjoy dressing up when I can. You saw me on my birthday last year, as I recall." He still had the tiny carven rose Korlian had given him that day. Lovely little thing.

Aramis flinched when the Fae put his hand on his shoulder. It just happened to be his left shoulder, and he felt the scar on his shoulder tingle slightly. He didn't know how this guy knew his name, and he didn't want him touching him. He shifted slightly to the side until the hand fell, giving a slight all-over shiver.
Fae seriously freaked him out, and this one knew his name.... wasn't that supposed to be a really bad thing?

Lhachlhass dressed up for the holiday too. But not the mortal holiday. Lhachlhass was dressed in his finest for the changing of the courts. With his glamour shed he looked to be in his late teens/twenties. He was more built and slighter darker skinned. His face looked less crazy and more confident. He almost looked handsome, almost, if you ignored all the sharp things on his person. Over his usual Fae outfit he wore black riding leather and a cloak of feathers. A hunting horn hung at his side along with multple daggers and swords. Interwined in his hair making a natural halo were autumn leaves.
As he walked by he put a hand on Hitomi's shoulder. "If the girl sibling of the angry one wishes to take his place she must kill him first. These things must be done in order." He told her matter of factly in a slightly deeper voice then usual.
He proceeded to then walk up to his brother and put him into a headlock. "Happy Day brother, your court is as useless in word as everything else."

Korlian disintangled himself from his brother's arms and fixed his clothing, as the owl fluttered back. It hooted at Chlhass with irritation and started to groom its soft feathers carefully.
"Your time will end as much as ours does, brother," he said calmly. "Besides, the two have more in common than they would care to admit. Just as you and I are opposite sides of a single coin, so too are they."

Jaymie, for the life of him, could not find his girlfriend or Aura, but he did see Hitoshi- out of costume and without his boyfriend. Weird. He wandered over with a pair of drinks and a plate of candy (one of the few non-bird things the crane didn't mind letting him indulge in).
"Hey!" He grinned. "I hate to be that guy, but have you seen your sister? Where's, uh, Alex?"

Hitomi winced, and momentarily made a face very unlike her brother's. There were many things she had learned to tolerate, but she would never be comfortable around those two.
She quickly composed herself, face smoothing back into the impassive expression that was so much like her brother's... And that was when Jaymie walked up. Oh, this was going to be too perfect. She'd been practicing for this.
She scowled, her arms crossed across her chest. "What makes you think I would have any idea where she is?" she snapped, her voice low and quiet.

Aura peered over at the door, her eyebrow creeping slowly up her brow. If she hadn't already seen Hitoshi enter, she might have mistaken him for his sister. Surely Jaymie didn't think...
"Damn it, Jaymie, please tell me you're not thinking what I think you're thinking." She facepalmed, then glanced back at Dubhiarr. "I think Jaymie's having some trouble recognizing his girlfriend."

Smoke lounged in a throne on the dais at the front of the hall, quite a bit smaller than Vero's throne, but still unimaginably awesome and swathed in blinking black-and-orange lights.
He couldn't figure out which costume to use this year, so he was dressed in a fine black suit, enchanted to show an ever-shifting starscape; he was also dressed in a headband with several tiny sparkly balls shaped like planets and stars projecting from it, a pair of large fluffy white rabbit ears, paw gloves, and vampire fangs.
Smoke was Bunnicula, Lord of the Universe. He swished around wine in a little glass and considered whether to lure Conall over so he could make comments about miserable little piles of secrets, and whether anyone would get it if he did.
