"Yes." Jonathan said, a scowl crossing his face. "I'm the freak of magic. The one Ian created. But that's not important. What's important is that I know you and that you're at least semi-friends with Ian." He looked around, making sure none of the other doors were opening. "Ian's in pretty terrible danger and I'm concerned he may die. Ian dying is no fun at all, so I need someone Ian is friends with to help me bring him back."

Aramis blinked again, rubbing his eyes. "How long do we have? Can I wash my face and try to wake up more first?" he asked. The boy sounded concerned...
And looked like shit. Had he been eating? Aramis shook his head and just went back to his dorm to splash some water on his face, drying it and coming back, his eyes clearer. "Where is he?"

Jonathan tapped his foot impatiently on the floor and waited for Aramis to return. When the boy asked his next question, Jonathan smirked a little bit.
"I'd say right now he's probably just getting up. He'll be eating breakfast with his family. In his kitchen. In his house. Then he'll be getting ready to go to his job at the movie theater, where he doesn't want to have to clean the bathrooms again."

"Damn it, if you think his life is in danger, we don't have time for silly games," Aramis snapped, irritated. If this boy had woken him for bad jokes, he was going to knock the kid over the head and go back to sleep. And if Ian was actually in trouble, then he didn't have the time to waste with jokes.

Jonathan snorted. "I'm not kidding. He's really in his house on the other side of the continent. Or at least, he thinks he is." Jonathan leaned against the wall, carefully watching Aramis' expression. "How much do you know about my good creator's 'condition'?"

"Condition?" Aramis said softly, his brow furrowed. "I..." His eyes widened. "He used to have hallucinations... He told me without meaning to... Is that wasn't going on again? I thought he wasn't having that problem any more because he was learning control..."
Was it more than just his magic acting up then? If it was chemical Aramis might be able to fix it... After a lot more study. He wasn't going to practice on Ian and possibly make things worse. "What do you think I can do?"

"He's hallucinating, yeah, and it's pretty bad." Jonathan smirked a bit. "I've seen him around. He thinks I'm his therapist. It makes for some funny conversations." The smirk was gone as quickly as it came. "I don't know. I just think we need to snap Ian out of this somehow. We need to gather as many of Ian's friends as possible and go... find him. I know where he is so I can lead you there. Who do you think can help?"

Aramis bit his lip. Liam had come to him with a bruise... he wouldn't tell Aramis why, but suddenly he thought he knew. "I don't know... you might not like this, but I know he's pretty close to Zephyros... He's friends with Liam... I think he even knows Korlian, who's probably either in the kitchen or outside somewhere..."
Aramis thought quickly, biting his lower lip. "If you know where he is, I think we should get to him first. I can keep him asleep until we can snap him out of it if necessary."
Inwardly, he whimpered. I haven't even come close to recovering from healing Zeph... hell, from healing the beating YOU gave Ian! Rubbing his temples, he noticed he had bitten his lip so badly it was bleeding. Damn. "Just... get me to Ian. If I can't snap him out of it, I can keep him from getting hurt until we can."

Jonathan thought for a minute. "Has anybody managed to find Ellie yet? We can knock Ian out and take him to the sick bay."

"We don't know where she is and in the morning I might be able to do more than keep him asleep. We can keep him in the sickbay until then..." Aramis said, rubbing his temples. He knew Ellie hadn't needed to face this much all at once... Well, maybe with that vampire thing but things had settled down after that! It had just been a few days ago that Zeph had slit his wrists...
"Once I get some sleep after this, I can at least find out what's wrong. That part is easy; the hard part is getting things in balance if that's the problem. Now where is he? We can worry about the rest of this once we know he's okay."

Jonathan nodded. "We'll knock him out and take him to the sick bay, then. I like that plan. I get to hit Ian." He turned and started down the hallway, motioning for Aramis to follow him. "It's about a fifteen minute walk. If we jog we can make it in ten. Come on!"

"You don't get to hit Ian. I'd have to heal that and I'm already exhausted enough, thank you very much. I get to touch him lightly on the temple and you can catch him as he crumples."
Ten minutes... Jonathan had made it seem urgent... Aramis caught up with him quickly, focused on getting to Ian in time.

Nina blew her hair out of her face and shifted the brightly wrapped package from the crook of one arm to the other. As always, she tapped lightly on the door with the back of her fist, waiting to hear noise inside.
She counted to sixty. When nothing happened, she knocked again, calling out a tentative, "Aramis?"

Aramis jolted awake, scrambling for the door. His legs caught in his blankets and he hit the floor, landing with a thump and a groan.
"Come in I'm not moving any time soon," he called, not really able to move. He'd managed to tangle himself up pretty thoroughly in his blankets, apparently. His legs were stuck. Flipping over and feeling his nose to make sure he hadn't broken it or anything, he started trying to untangle his legs. His pajama pants seemed to be making the entanglement that much worse. Not only were his legs tied up, so were his pants! Oh how absolutely fucking GLORIOUS.

Nina turned the handle and pushed the door open with her shoulder, fighting back the laughter that bubbled to her lips. "Do you... need help?" she asked, balancing the package on her hip. Aramis seemed to be losing a wrestling match with both a tangle of blankets and his own clothing. Being someone who preferred wearing pants multiple sizes too large herself, Nina could sympathize.

Aramis looked up at her, his dark eyes rather helpless. "This has been happening more and more recently... Can I do something for you, Nina? Kemekin isn't here; I'm not sure where he is. Mostly, all I know is that he's not here messing up the room and keeping me up. I haven't been able to sleep properly and he is NOT helping."
I still call pairing me with him cruel and unusual. Aramis thought, still working on getting his legs free.

Nina set her package down by the door and approached her classmate, kneeling by the tangle of fabric and limbs. She eased her hands into the worst of the twists and eased them apart, allowing some wiggle room for Aramis to at least attempt an escape.
"He's been acting out a bit since Miss E disappeared," she admitted, sounding a tad less energetic than before. "He got in a fight today, too. I hope she comes back soon. Keme needs her." She looked at Aramis. "And you do, too. I know you've been stringing yourself out lately. Kemekin's been wanting to help, but he doesn't trust himself to use his magic on people. He's not a bad kid, I promise you... His heart's in the right place."

Aramis sighed, getting free from his tangle. He just sat on the floor, his knees pressed against his chest and his chin resting on them. "I can't help it. I just have to help people... if I can. But it's making me so tired..."
He let his eyes close for a moment. "Thanks for helping me, Nina. Was there something you wanted?"
Please don't be hurt please don't be hurt... he whimpered mentally.

Nina smiled. She turned to pick up the package, the shiny green paper crinkling under her fingers. Hints of cinnamon and other cookie-related aromas escaped from the box as she handed it to Aramis, saying, "I made these for you. I hope they cheer you up." She tucked her hair behind one ear and added with a chuckle, "And you can consider them a thank you for not killing my boyfriend in his sleep, also."

Aramis took them with surprise, looking at her with confusion. "You know I wouldn't actually hurt him. Well, I might knock him out but I'd heal it afterward..."
He looked at the package, still confused. She had made cookies... for him? "I... um... thank you. Thank you very much. I really appreciate it."
He smiled at her, surprised.

"You're very welcome," Nina told him, crossing her wrists behind her back and rocking on her heels slightly. She took a few steps backward and rested her hand lightly on the door, then added over her shoulder with a wink, "and don't let me catch you sharing those with Keme, okay? Those were made specifically for you."

"He's getting them over my dead body," Aramis promised, grinning at her widely. He pulled the box closer, almost as if he expected Kemekin to show up and try to steal them right then. "Thank you again, Nina."

Aramis sat cross-legged on his bed, papers spread around him on his right side and in front of him, between him and the wall, and his laptop sitting on his knees as he typed awkwardly with his just right hand. His left arm remained in a sling, so far completely useless and numb. Miss Ellie seemed almost afraid to really do anything with it yet, so he just dealt with it.
At least it only hurt when he moved it. Instinctively reaching for a piece of paper with his hand, he snarled a curse under his breath and clutched at the shoulder for a moment. Mumbling another curse, he carefully used his right hand to grab the paper and returned to his essay.
Occasionally he flipped to check the school forum. He didn't really know who he was talking to but at least he was talking. That was more than most people could claim to get out of him. He blinked and read the latest post again, then felt himself start to turn red and typed out a quick reply.

Kemekin had been tucked away into the opposite corner of the room, by the window, a math book balanced in his lap. Jaebi was off with Kazari and Professor Honghui. Nina was training with Haneul. He might as well get some work done.
But... math. Kemekin was almost sad that he didn't have more homework in the other subjects, so he could put off geometry.
Kemekin glanced up and grinned at Aramis. Teasing was more important than math.
"Oh, Aramis," he cooed. "Still talking to that person online? Do they know how pretty you are when you're embarrassed? You blush so delicately-- like a blossom."
Cackle cackle.

Aramis glared at him as he posted a second reply. Pausing, he finished the reply and slowly set the computer aside. Rising with the same deliberate care, he walked across the room and literally towered over his roommate. His eyes still narrowed, he smiled sweetly at Kemekin.
"They don't... but then, if you would like to tell them, I could always tell Du about the last make-out session you and Nina had that I walked in on," his voice was deceptively sweet, a tactic he'd watched Nina use to devastating effect against the other mage. Kemekin probably wouldn't realize what was being threatened until after he'd begun to react. And Aramis fully intended on discovering how well he could strangle the boy with one hand against Keme's numbing magic. Or if his own magic would do any good at nullifying that effect. After all, when Kemekin and Miss Ellie had healed him upon her return, there had been no numbing involved at all. The thought of that agony still made him shudder inside.
