Hitoshi slid back into the pillows, entwining his legs around Alex's. Hitoshi pressed his lips against Alex's, tangling one hand in Alex's hair and the other in the back of Alex's shirt.
He had Alex's shirt about half off when he heard his cousin's voice. It was very lucky for Thrall Alex was currently on top of him.
"You don't sincerely expect me to believe that wasn't entirely deliberate, do you?" he snapped. "And yes, you should."

"Now why the hell would I want to see my baby cousin fucking? Alex isn't bad-looking, mind you, but no." He leaned over the edge of the couch, flashing a wicked grin at them both. He still didn't look any older or much different than he had at 25, just subtly more disturbing. "Just coming to say that Jack's here, and we'll be around for, uh, late lunch work for ya? I'll tell him not to come around and say hi quite yet, huh? Tomi and her bird-bitch still here?"

Hitoshi looked murderous. "They were here yesterday and left. If you're still alive by this afternoon, I'll consider having lunch. And what on earth possessed you to enter a room without knocking?"

"Ah-heh. Your door's kinda open, and I figured you meant to do that." He gestured towards it. "For... some reason. You know? I'll just go now. And close and lock it for ya."
Thrall backed up and began walking back out the door.

Hitoshi narrowed his eyes. "You do that then," he replied. "And don't forget that part about locking the door." A part of him wanted to throw something at Thrall, or react a bit more strongly, or-- But Alex was still there, precisely in the same position he had been before they were interrupted, which was distracting Hitoshi quite a bit from his irritation.
"I'm giving you a ten second warning to get the hell out my living room," Hitoshi announced to his cousin. "After that I'm just going to start pretending you're not there."

Alex was just laying there, half-mortified, half trying not to laugh. (More strictly speaking, he was about a quarter mortified, a third trying not to laugh, a twelfth shocked, and another third distracted by how hot Hitoshi was when he was angry, but those were the two he was capable of devoting brainpower to within the minute of conversaton available.)
"You think this was the universe's way of telling us to go back to bed?" he said into the side of Hitoshi's neck.

Hitoshi ran his hand under Alex's shirt, trailing his fingertips along the ridges of his spine. He made a soft noise in the back of his throat.
"I don't feel like moving," he murmured. He ran his lips gently along the side of Alex's nose. "The door is locked. There are only two people other people who have keys, and Alyn won't be back for a while."
Hitoshi kissed along Alex's throat and locked his legs around Alex's waist. "And if Veronique invites herself in, I couldn't care less if she decided to sit in the floor and watch."

"...Okay. Ok- mm." Alex smirked and tugged at Hitoshi's shirt. "Beautiful angry thing." He nuzzled down towards Hitoshi's mouth and kissed him again.

"Mm..." Hitoshi bent to kiss Alex's collarbone.
Hitoshi had managed to slide out of his shirt and had begun working on the rest of Alex's clothing when he heard the disturbance.
...God fucking damn it. He was not dealing with this.

"Uncle Hitoshi!" Xander howled. Xander jiggled the handle. "Uncle Alex! You have to come quick!"
When the door didn't budge, Xander began thrashing his fists against the wood. "Uncle Hitoshi! Uncle Alex! It's Aisling and Alyn, and that professor woman and she shot someone!"

Alex had both his hands occupied at the moment he heard Xander's screaming. He shot up and off of Hitoshi much more quickly than he had thought possible.
"Hold on!" He frantically grabbed and replaced his clothing, and was mostly decent by the time he opened the door. "What? What is going on?"

Hitoshi's eyes went wide. He cursed under his breath, rolling off of the couch and scrambling around on the floor for his shirt.
What the hell was that woman doing? Was she actually that much of a--
"What do you mean shot someone?" he snapped. "Who? What happened?"
If that woman had actually been stupid enough to shoot... No. She wouldn't. He wouldn't even think it.

Xander's eyes went wide, glancing between his uncles. "We were in the hall, and then something hit her, and she ran off up the stairs and she shot someone, then Aisling ran off and Alyn told me to find you!" he said, all in one breath. "I didn't see who it was but I think it was a boy!"

Alex's mind dashed through several possibilities: it could be another invasion. It could be a terrible accident. It could be one of the less dangerous fae or that little monster she was always going on about, though gods only knew why she would think shooting them would even work.
Or the old cow could've gone senile and decided to wave that gun around at the first annoying sound she heard.
Alex's face hardened into a snarl. Whatever had happened, someone was going to die. "Lead us."

Xander had never seen his typically gentle Uncle Alex that angry. It was somewhat terrifying, but...comforting, also, to know that Alex was going to defend them.
"Downstairs, on the steps between the first and second floors coming in from the lobby," he said quickly. He turned and darted toward the steps.

Eventually, however it seemed to drag on, the day of reckoning drew to a close. Hitoshi had made his decisions. All he could do now was to wait, and hope that he had made the right ones. There were things in the balanced that far outweighed Paula, or Jonathan, or Ian, or any other individual. They had set a precedent. And more importantly, there was no way in hell this would be the last of the problems. Whatever Hitoshi decided, there were going to be a great deal of people unhappy with him. It was a Catch-22.
The steadily downward trend of the events of the day had left Hitoshi simultaneously exhausted and unable to sleep. After about an hour of staring at the ceiling and listening to the sound of Alex's slow, peaceful breathing, Hitoshi decided that, if he was going to be awake, he might as well attempt to get something done.
Hitoshi grabbed his glasses off of the bedside table and slipped them on, then slid his computer out of the floor and onto the bed, with every intention of resuming his work on balancing the budget. He kept getting memos about fixing the espresso machine in the third floor staff lounge because someone apparently didn't want to walk down to the first floor for a latte.
Hitoshi opened up the laptop and began, very softly, typing on the keyboard, attempting to at least do something useful with the time he couldn't manage to spend sleeping. He certainly wasn't going to spend it worrying over Jonathan of all things.

Alex eventually realized the unusually bright light was not the sun outside the car window driving to his mother's house and woke up to a feeling of absence. He spent a moment reaching out for the familiar shape of his husband, sliding his arm between the covers until he grabbed onto what felt like a foot where a shoulder should be. At about that moment, the tick-click-click sound of the keyboard reached his ears.
He slid onto his side from his stomach and leaned up on one shoulder to peer at Hitoshi. "What's that? What're you doing up?" he said sleepily.

"I couldn't sleep," Hitoshi replied quietly. He glanced back at Alex. "I wasn't trying to wake you."
Hitoshi adjusted the brightness of the screen, turning it down as far as it would go. "Is that any better?" he asked.

"Mmdon't want to go back to sleep." Alex slid back down and nuzzled into Hitoshi's side. "If you're up anyway... could we talk?"

Hitoshi looked back at Alex for a moment. "Of course," he murmured, closing the computer and sitting it aside. Hitoshi wrapped an arm around Alex's middle, sliding closer to him. "What's on your mind?"

Alex smirked sleepily and wrapped his arms around Hitoshi, squeezing him close. "Not what it should be. Just... what were you doing? Anything interesting?"

Hitoshi slid down and shifted slightly so that Alex was laying mostly on top of him. "Mostly just the same things I've been working on for a while," he replied. "Trying to keep this place from falling apart."
Hitoshi sighed, playing idly with Alex's hair. "It seems like there was some higher power conspiring against us today. Here I was, hoping that I could manage to get a day to relax..." Hitoshi kissed Alex's forehead lightly.

Alex slid his hand beneath Hitoshi's head and his fingers through his hair. "Sorry, I'm not that not-sleepy," he teased and kissed Hitoshi's cheek. "I blame Thrall, personally. It all started when he came in, did you notice?"
"Anything I can help with..?"

"Mm. I'm sure Thrall will be ecstatic to discover that he's personally responsible for everything that happened today." Alex was warm, and he was beginning the feel better already.
"You're already helping, I think," he said quietly. He kissed Alex softly. For a moment, he was quiet. "Do you think I made the right choice?" he asked. "And I don't mean ethically."

Alex squeezed Hitoshi again and thought about that. "If you don't mean ethically... I can't answer anything but yes. The right answer is the one you make and stick by, and can live with. If they accept that, everything else can be dealt with."
"Or do you mean something else...?"
